Uncle Ed
Throughout Sports history there are fans who have become an insignia or symbol of a team. The
Lakers have Jack Nicholson, The Knicks have Spike Lee... The Miami Fusion had Burrito.
Very little is know about this mysterious and solitary soul. According to Burrito he was Born one
cold night in the year of our lord 1998 in the city of Toluca, Mexico.
Hola Amigos! Burrito been in the dawg house (Liter-ally) lately. Pero no problem, He back now!
It's been a year since MLS Commisionado El Don Garber came to South Florida to talk to Burrito's
compadres the Miami Ultras. Burrito was mad cause they no let in dawgs to Hotel that day pero
Burrito was able to steal pictures from Uncle Ed's cell phone and si the picture not good qualities
pero thats life.
As the United States men's national team gets ready for their showdown with Honduras this Saturday
8th at 6 PM (Tickets still available!) South Florida American Outlaws and all fans of the beautiful
(including the Miami Ultras) game were honored to spend some time with forward Jozy Altidore, a one
time South Florida resident.
Burrito not write in long times cause he peed-off with Los Estrikers!
The team is playing like poopoo! They need to play with huevos! Don't they know who used to wear
the Red and Gold? Don't they know Burrito's compadre Ray Hudson used to wear #4? Or that Teófilo
Cubillas used to wear #10?
Burrito ponders, Burrito chews on chew toy, then bites an old chicken bone, then back to chew toy.
Hola Amigos! Burrito been in the dawg house (Liter-ally) lately. Pero no problem, He back now!
It's been almost a month since MLS Commisionado El Don Garber came to South Florida to talk to
Burrito's compadres the Miami Ultras. Burrito was mad cause they no let in dawgs to Hotel pero

This past Saturday the Fort Lauderdale Strikers flew up to Minnesota to play the first leg of the
NASL Div2 Championship versus the NSC Minnesota Stars.
Unfortunetly the Strikers lost 3-1. It was a heart breaker to see the team play timidly compared to
their past few playoff games. Was it the cold weather up North?
It seems like a dream but it's true, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers made it to the NASL finals and
will meet the Minnesota Stars in a 2 game series that starts next Saturday in Minnesota.
Over 4200 people showed up to see the Strikers beat the Islanders 2-1 (5-2 aggregate) thanks to a
brace by Brian Shriver.
Ex Miami Fusion captain and current Fort Lauderdale Strikers Assistant coach Jim Rooney was our
guest last night on Miami Ultras Alive.
Rooney was gracious enough to answer our questions about his Fusion days, including a number of
anecdotes concerning Ray Hudson's underwear and a his own sports bra (In tribute to Brandi
Chastain's World Cup goal) inspired celebration during the MLS All Star game.
Strikers fans made the trip to St Pete to support their team. It was a tough loss but it was a fun
experience.

Did you listen to Miami Ultras Alive yesterday?
This weekend we have a soccer Saturday in South Florida.
It begins at 7:30 pm when the Fort Lauderdale Strikers play against the Puerto Rico Islanders at
the Mecca of South Florida soccer, Lockhart Stadium.
The Strikers are on a 5 game undefeated streak and look to extend that at home against an Islanders
team that come off a 3-1 victory over the Atlanta Silverbacks.
The Fort Lauderdale Strikers were able to steal a point from Montreal this weekend and keeper Matt
Glaeser gets another clean sheet.
"Today our guys earned a hard fought point in a tough environment," said head coach
Daryl Shore. "We felt like it should have been 3 but overall we are satisfied with the
result.
The Ottawa NASL rumors have been floating for months. Now word out of Canada and the US is that

On the most recent Miami Ultra's podcast called Miami Ultra's Alive, hosted by Pieter Brown and
Uncle Ed, guest Tim Robbie, president of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers mentioned let slip that
Ottawa will indeed be joining the NASL for 2013.
The latest Miami Ultras Alive show hosted by Pieter Brown and sidekick Uncle Ed was honored to have

Pieter and Ed started off talking about WPS side MagicJack and then went on to an interview with
midfielder Brian Shriver who scored a brace and continued with a quick interview with Strikers
coach Daryl Shore.

The fun doesn't stop there.
A busy soccer weekend just passed and it's leading into more football goodness all week with the
start of the Gold Cup.
But first off, some of the American Outlaws decided to meet up at Fox & Hound close to Lockhart
Stadium stadium to watch the USA vs Spain game. this was a pinful game to watch as the American's
were schooled by a much better Spanish side.

This past Saturday marked the return of MLS Futbolito to South Florida. This year the Miami Ultras
signed up to play in the tournament for the first time. Uncle Ed, your humble bloggererer was
signed on as the Coach. Here are my notes and comments of my debut as coach.
1.- The coach was the last to show up.
MLS Futbolito is here in Miami and it starts this Sunday May 22.
Come out and check out this great 4 vs 4 tournament! It's at Kendall Soccer Park located at 8011 SW

MagicJack remain undefeated as they defeated the Atlanta Beat 2-0 in a Women's Professional Soccer
League game played Sunday at FAU Soccer Field.
The magicJack outshot Atlanta 17-1, including putting 10 shots on goal and having the
edge 6-0 on corner kicks.
Pressure was applied early by magicJack with Masar scoring at the 23-minute mark from inside five
yards on an assist from Lindsay Tarpley.
We start our weekly review of everything soccer in South Florida, with our also weekly Blog Talk
Radio show called Miami Ultras Alive hosted by Pieter Brown and yours truly, Uncle Ed. The show has
now been extended to one hour and will be moved starting next Monday to 10 pm. This will happen
every week until you get tired of us.
Much is being said in the media about the MLS Miami meeting that took place at the Marriot Harbor
Beach Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. South Florida soccer supporters, the Miami Ultras have for months
worked on a campaign called MLS Miami Bid with the purpose of attracting followers and investors
willing to bring a team to this area.
Everything you want to know about the Strikers you can find out by just going to
www.ftlauderdalestrikers.com It's a site created by Jeffrey Duly, a soccer fan who grew up
following the most successful team in South Florida soccer history. Jeffrey was kind enough to
answer a few questions about the Strikers of old and the Strikers to come.
This past Saturday Miami FC defeated the Rochester Rhinos 1-0 in injury time thanks to a Christian
Gomez header. The Blues had dominated the game for most of the match clearly outmatching the
Rhinos. With the loss Rochester went down to second place, while Miami secured its 4th win in a
row. This game took place at Fort Lauderdale Stadium.
Si, Burrito's new girlfriend, Veronica Paysse is now on the radio! You never heard of her? Well,
Burrito's love affair with her began many a futbol years ago.
In 2001 The Miami Fusion was shut down. Burrito's heart was broken and Burrito swear he would never
see another MLS game again. EVERS!
Pero, one day when Uncle Ed was changing channels, and as Burrito was chewing on a bone, there,
there, out of the corner of Burrito's eye he see a real mamacita!
Following you will find pictures and fan video taken during the meeting with MLS Commissioner Don
Garber. None of the video is professional so bear with us. the video it does give you a little
taste of what it was like to be there.
I've seen much criticism out there from fans from other cities concerning the number of fans that
showed up to the event.
The Rest
WOW, this was a great show! On this weeks Miami Ultras Alive we spoke to Fort Lauderdale Strikers
head coach Daryl Shore.
We didn't pull any punches, asked him what the heck is going on with the Strikers. Started out
telling him that 1-5-2 is not good enough. Coach Shore did a great job and made no excuses and
promised that they will do everything within their power to turn this team around.
