It's been a mixed start to life in the AFC Cup, Asia's second tier cup competition, for Indonesia's representatives Semen Padang and Persibo Bojonegoro. Semen Padang, who won the Indonesia Premier League in 2012, have been drawn in Group E alongside Kitchee (Hong Kong), Churchill Brothers (India) and The Warriors (Singapore – formerly known as Singapore Armed Forces)and they have begun the campaign positively.
Siam Sport are reporting that Thai Port trialist, Masahiro Fukasawa (on the right of the pic
below), has signed for TPL rivals Bangkok United. The 32 year old Japanese player had spent a
couple of weeks on trial at PAT Stadium, and even made a couple of appearances for Port in
pre-season friendlies.
It is unclear if Thai Port chose not to pursue their interest in the player, or whether he himself
decided that a move to the Thai-Japanese Stadium would be a better option for his career.
The eighth-time S.League champions will be renamed as Warriors Football Club, as announced during the club's outreach program held in this afternoon at Lot One Shopping Center in Choa Chu Kang.

to lace up the Nike (RED) ambassador boots is midfielder John Wilkinson.
"The only way to rebuild is to ensure that there is a strong pipeline of players coming through
the ranks. With the LionsXII and the Courts Young Lions doing well, we are hoping that the pipeline
will be strong with those new players available for national team selection." FAS president
Zainudin Nordin (17th April 2012) after the assessment of the report submitted by national coach
Raddy Avramovic following the disappointing World Cup qualifiers on TODAY.

I must admit to being quite excited about the new season in Singapore which began last night. Not
because of the new foreign teams which fill me with as much excitement as a trip to the dentist,
but rather among the more established clubs.
SIngapore Armed Forces of course have dominated the title over the last few seasons and will be
strong favourites in the new campaign.

Singapore, 22 February 2011 – Singapore Armed Forces Football Club (SAFFC) welcomes fans to the
Warriors Arena (Choa Chu Kang Stadium) with fun-filled activities, goodies and attractive prizes at
all their home matches.
Fans can look forward to a carnival atmosphere with free popcorns, cotton candies and balloons for
kids.
Far be it for me to go out on a limb here but SAFFC, the dominant force in the SLeague since it's
inception, will not be champions this year.

After losing 'at home' to Balestier Khalsa 2-0 last night the Warriors now sit 7th which, in
Singapore terms, is the bottom half of the table.
The SLeague begins in about 12 days time, no fixture list yet, so I thought I'd scour some of the
teams websites and find out just what they are doing to entice supporters.
Albirex Niigata have one of the better sites and club shops in the SLeague if somewhat overpriced.
Adults can purchase season tickets at a cost of $40 (all prices in Singapore dollars obviously)
which is pretty good value when you consider match tickets cost $6 a game (all prices for adults).

SINGAPORE, 9 April 2010: S.League Champions Singapore Armed Forces FC and Henan Jianye from China
meet in the 2010 AFC Champions League Group G match which will be played on Tuesday, 13 April at
the Jalan Besar stadium.
Hats off to Indonesian football. The FA and clubs have decided to fund football development in less
well off parts of Asia by ingnoring existing rules and regulations thereby incurring fines to be
paid to the AFC. Fair play says I.
AFC Asian Cup 2011 Qualifiers: The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has been
fined USD 11,000 for liability for spectator conduct when plastic bottles were thrown onto the
pitch and pitch invasion by spectators during the match against Oman on 6 January, 2010.
It took a last minute goal from Rahmat Rivai to earn Sriwijaya three points and their first win in
five against Persebaya yesterday after the Surabaya club had taken the lead.
On Saturday the Copa Indonesia winners play Singapore Armed Forces at Jalan Besar in Singapore in
an AFC Champions League Qualifier and you have to say the Warriors will be favourites given the
Palembang's poor results recently.

SINGAPORE, 26 January 2010: S.League Champions Singapore Armed Forces FC (pictured above) and the
Copa Indonesia holders, Sriwijaya FC will contest the 2010 AFC Champions League East Zone play-off
match to be played in Singapore on Saturday, 30 January at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Copa Indonesia winners have yet to impose themselves on this ISL season and find themselves sitting
10th with 15 games gone. Just a single win in their last seven games, and that a narrow 1-0 against
struggling PSPS, shows Rahmad Darmawan's men aren't having the best of times when you consider next
weekend they travel to Singapore to take on Singapore Armed Forces in an AFC Champions League Play
Off.
The draw for the 2010 AFC Cup takes place on Monday 7th December at AFC House, Kuala Lumpur,
starting at 3pm local time (7am UK time). Thai Port are in the East Asia part of the draw. 12 clubs
from the region will be drawn into 3 groups of 4 teams.
Teams 1-9 listed below, have qualified for the AFC Cup.
Adelaide United (AUS), Shandong Luneng (CHN), Cup winners (JPN), Pohang Steelers (KOR)

For the second successive Asian Champions League game at Jalan Besar Stadium Singapore Armed Forces
have had a player red carded.
No doubt the word is going out in referee circles. Watch them Warriors, they're dirty gits. Dish
'em a red, we'll look tough and they won't complain anyway.
SAFFC need to learn sharpish how the mind of an AFC ref works.
With the AFC Cup player registration deadline on the horizon, Sasom Pobpraserd is busy checking out
new players to bolster the Thai Port squad.
As I reported earlier, Masahiro Fukasawa played for 40 minutes against Chonburi in last week's
pre-season friendly, but nothing has been confirmed since then.
