The U.S. U-20 WNT has been treated wonderfully by all of the Japanese organizers, fans and many others they have met here everywhere the team has gone during every moment of every day. And with the U.S. team taking time to visit both the Peace Memorial in Hiroshima and a memorial to the fallen in the tsunami-stricken area of Sendai, the Japanese have more more than appreciative and supportive of the U.

The Olympic Torch is of course in London now, but the U.S. WNT players got a chance to share in the relay in a small way when the local organizers were kind enough to let the players hold one of the torches that came through Glasgow, even if it was in the team's meal room.

A bunch of players go to take pictures with the Torch and surely the entire team will be watching the Opening Ceremonies on July 27 when the Olympic flame is lit.

All aboard! For Sarah Killion, Crystal Dunn, Chi Ubogagu and Kealia Ohai

The U.S. U-20 WNT left Sendai city this afternoon via the Shinkansen, the famed Japanese bullet train, and once again the local organizers made the trip as smooth as possible. Of course, the Shinkansen is about as smooth as it gets, gliding between cities at between 150-180 MPH, meaning the USA's train from Sendai took just over 90 minutes.

U.S. players warm-up on the track before training

The U.S. U-20 WNT held its one allowed training at the game venue today, running through an hour practice at the Hiroshima Big Arch Stadium which will host the USA's first two Group D matches.

While the heat and humidity has been a bit oppressive so far in Hiroshima, the temps during the USA's training session, while a bit sticky, were relatively cool and would be conducive to some good soccer for sure.

Happy Birthday Becca (and Kelly)

If there is one thing that the U-20 WNT has learned in its short stay in Japan so far is that that Japanese know how to do birthdays.

Forward Becca Wann, who turned 20 today, as well as forward Kelly Cobb, who turns 20 on the 26th, were given gifts after training by the local organizers here in Hiroshima.

Corner: Brazil 2014

The latest out of Brazil is that they've postponed hosting the Copa America, letting Chile take the 2015 tournament and waiting until later this decade to take their turn. That's not an option with next summer's Confederations Cup or the 2014 World Cup, and it's the FIFA tournaments looming large. Justin Shaffer took us through the issues surrounding the 2014 World Cup, something that both the organizers and world soccer's governing body would've probably preferred.

US Open Cup's Problems Not So Easy To Fix

No one is a bigger fan of the US Open Cup than the guys at TheCup.US. Josh Hakala and company know more about the tournament than just about anyone this side of the organizers, and maybe more. That said, there are some scary facts in this piece. Perhaps the most bothersome is the fact that in the past three years, only nine of 117 matches not involving the Sounders drew at least 4,000 fans.

So they benefited from a "better head start" ??
