When one thinks about the historic rivalries of Italian football, the Derby della Madonnina, Inter vs. Milan, and the Derby d'Italia, Inter vs. Juventus, are normally the first two to come to mind. Though both of the aforementioned rivalries have produced tremendous fixtures in the past and feature three of the best teams in Italy, it would be an oversight not to include the Rome Derby, when Roma face Lazio, amongst the top rivalries of the Serie A.

There's been plenty of focus on injuries at Spurs in recent weeks and ahead of tonight's Europa League game, there are many questions about the potential make up of our team. Meanwhile, hosts Lazio have suffered an injury problem of their own as veteran striker Miroslav Klose misses the game but how much will the German's absence affect the home side?

Juventus have recovered after suffering a major ego setback when they lost for the first time in 50 Serie A matches against archrival Inter Milan 1-3 on Nov. 3. In the two subsequent games, they demolished Nordsjælland 4-0 in the UEFA Champions League group stages and wrecked US Pescara 6-1 at home in Serie A.
German striker Miroslav Klose will no doubt get a Fair Play Award for his goodwill gesture last-night, however his team-mates and Lazio fans may not take to kindly to his goodwill gesture.
Having admitted to the hand-ball and the goal subsequently being disallowed, Lazio were thrashed 3-0 incidently at the former home of the Hand of God himself Maradona.
Thierry Henry take note, this is how you do fair play. In the third minute of Lazio's trip to Napoli last night, Lazio were given a goal after German striker Miroslav Klose netted from close range from a corner. Napoli's players immediately remonstrated that the goal should not have scored because Kloe had handled the [.
Very early in Napoli's match against Lazio at the San Paolo, Miroslav Klose scored off a corner kick to put Lazio up 1-0. While the Lazio players began to celebrate, Napoli protested the goal, saying that Klose scored with his hand, which he did. Klose then admitted his offense to the referee, who disallowed the goal, and the Napoli players showed their appreciation for Klose honesty by patting him on the back.
Pretty brutal referee last night. Spurs dominated and Lazio managed to smack a nice dipping shot into the crossbar, but this ended 0-0, much to the disappointment of everyone. There was even a Miroslav Klose sighting. Why? You might ask? 3 disallowed goals for Spurs. The first, Dempsey was offsides, close, but offsides.
Everyone can stop taking team photos now because Lazio already won. The annual tradition of clubs taking a class picture to capture the one day that a given set of players are all together before the inevitable transfers, feuds and injuries that will destroy them often lacks any visual stimulation.
It was widely reported last night that Spurs had failed with another summer bid, this time for German international and Lazio striker Miroslav Klose. The player had previously been mentioned as a target for the club before he left for Italy and he confirmed to the local press that a definite approach had been made.

Germany: All-time football records - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Germany has a long and rich history when it comes to the beautiful game with the country divided due to politics until the fall of the Berlin Wall and the demise of the old Soviet Union.
Here are ten football records related to Germany national football team:
Most capped player
No one can get anywhere near Lothar Matthaus who has more caps than any other player for his country with 150.
Germany manager Joachim Low has refused to offer an extensive explanation for his side's shocking 4-4 draw at home to Sweden, admitting that the entire dressing room was left speechless after throwing away a four-goal advantage.
A pair of early goals from Miroslav Klose and a goal apiece from Arsenal's Per Mertesacker and Real Madrid's Mesut Ozil propelled Germany into a comfortable lead in Berlin before chaos ensued in the final half hour.
England, Germany, and holders Spain dominated in match-day three of FIFA World Cup 2014 qualification, emphatically defeating San Marino, Ireland, and Belarus, respectively.
Stand-in captain Wayne Rooney and his Manchester United teammate Danny Welbeck bagged a brace each while Arsenal starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain added the icing on the cake in the Lions' 5-0 win at Wembley.
The last thing you'd want to do after getting unexpectedly booted out of Euro 2012 is to stay
within the confines of your hotel room or see the city. So naturally, the
German national team scheduled the earliest flight out of Poland yesterday morning
their wives and girlfriends in tow and arrived at the Frankfurt airport to be greeted by rain and
smiling men carrying umbrellas.
Miroslav Klose made a record fifth semifinal appearance in a major international tournament
after coming off the bench in tonight's 2-1 defeat against Italy to end a career night in
disappointing fashion.
Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli struck twice in the first half to send the Germans
trailing 2-0 at half-time.
Glückwünsche! After a 4-2 win over Greece tonight, the Germans are through to the semi-finals
of Euro 2012, although admittedly, they were a shadow of themselves in
the first half. Lackluster finishing, passing (Ozil's fish diet clearly doesn't hide his
exhaustion) and poor defending almost cost them dearly, as did Joachim Low's
unexpected decision to field Miroslav Klose, who hardly touched the ball in the
first half.
Germany overcame a wasteful first half performance to defeat Greece 4-2 in Gdansk and proceed to
the UEFA Euro 2012 semis next week.
A brilliant first-half goal from Deutsch captain Philipp Lahm was somehow the only difference
between the two teams at half-time.
The Greeks punished Germany's lack of clinical finishing in the first half by equalizing through
a quick counter-attack of their own, which ended with a Georgios Samaras goal in the 55th
minute.
Holy God! After cruising to a 3-0 half-time lead in Berlin, courtesy of brace from Miroslav Klose and a goal from Arsenal giant Per Mertesacker, Sweden's men looked well and truly shafted (that's a feeble attempted at a Mannschaft pun, by the way.
We'd say 'class act', but we shouldn't really gloss over the fact that Klose did initially try to pull a fast one and score with his hand before hisconsciencehad a word in his ear!
15.08.2012 - Con goles de Khedira (e/c ´46), Lionel Messi (´53) y Angel
Di María (´72), Argentina venció (1-3) a Alemania (Howedes ´81) en el Commerzbank Arena
(Frankfurt).
El partido, que venía parejo (o favorable a los locales), se quebró a los 30 minutos del primer
tiempo cuando (por último recurso) fue expulsado el arquero alemán Ron-Robert Zieler.
Germany cruise into semi-finals - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Germany booked a place in the Euro 2012 semi-finals on Friday night with a dominant 4-2 victory
over Greece in Gdansk, with goals from Phillipp Lahm, Sami Khedira, Miroslav Klose and Marco Reus
sealing the win. Joachim Low's men will now await the winner of England and Italy to see who is
next in their firing line.
In the end, Germany proved to be way too much for upstart Greece to overcome.
Despite a short-lived equalizer by the Greeks in the second half, Germany steamrolled the 2004
European champions, as a 4-2 victory booked the Germans' place in the semifinals.
Germany: Manuel Neuer; Philipp Lahm, Holger Badstuber, Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng; Bastian
Schweinsteiger, Sami Khedira; Andre Schurrle, Mesut Ozil, Marco Reus; Miroslav Klose.
Germany cruised to a comfortable 4-1 win over Greece to book their sport in the Euro 2012
semifinals. The result was not a surprise as Germany were heavy favorites and very few gave Greece
a realistic chance to advance.
It was a decent start both sides as Germany dominated possession and chances while Greece were
able to keep it scoreless.
Germany may have emerged from the Euro 2012 Group of Death unscathed, but the Germans may be
overlooking their quarterfinal match just a bit with a lineup that looks like it's geared toward
resting some players for an eventual semifinal match against England or Italy.
This is my personal list of favourite players of 2012: 10) Cristiano Ronaldo: Ronaldo is one of the most gifted players of our time, but that is also what makes him so frustrating. He had a marvelous season for Real Madrid when they took the Spanish title, but it seems he only glows when things go well for the team.
Será que Ronny, hoje no Cluj, viu o lance em que Miroslav Klose assumiu ter marcado com a mão? O que terá sentido? Orgulho? Arrependimento? Adiram ao blog no facebook em
