Bookmakers Paddy Power never shy away from the chance to create a cheeky billboard and they certainly never miss an opportunity for some controversial PR. So, they've jumped on the news that Sir Alex Ferguson is retiring as Manchester United manager by suggesting that somewhere a Liverpool fan has just one wish left.
It's like a contest. Try and guess the next banana peel NIGHTMARE APE WAYNE ROONEY, England's
Ambassador to Football and redemptive bicycle kick specialist, will throw into his own path. Will
he get a tattoo of Mike Tyson Chewing Evander Holyfield's Ear on his hairy back? (AHHHHNT: My guess
last time, which was admittedly wrong; instead he hashed opened a leg just to watch it bleed and
thereby abandoned his national side when most they needed him).
Presenting: The latest installment in the never-ending (and slightly past-it's-sell-by-date)
Manchester 'billboard wars'.
A large digital billboard has been glaring above Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre reading
'Welcome to Carlos, Manchester', which has appeared courtesy of the United Supporters' Trust
described on their website as a 'warm-hearted message from some old friends'.

Manchester United fans put a billboard mocking on Carlos incident teasing Manchester City fans. The
billboard was in Manchester "city center" on Friday evening.
I didn't really understand the joke fully till I saw this picture which was was the billboards of
Manchester City in 2009 welcoming Carlos Tevez to the club
I have to add, for a reason or another, no matter whatever he did, I really never liked Tevez.
The posters are back Remember the heady days of the Manchester billboard wars of 2009? Well,
they're back. Salford's Photoshop freedom fighters have been spurred into action by the news that
released Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has undergone a medical at Manchester City.
The England midfielder is no stranger to medical examination as [.
Schadenfreude may not be edifying, but it certainly seems to be a particular preoccupation of the
football fan. Time was when goading your local rivals was confined to a selection of
uncomplimentary chants and maybe the odd rude gesture. Not any more - the bar appears to have been
raised considerably.
Around five weeks ago, "hilarious" bookmaker Paddy Power generated themselves some publicity with the #2ndjobsforsubs Twitter hashtag campaign, teaming it with a billboard aimed at misfiring striker Fernando Torres.
"Fernando, we've got an onion bag you can actually find. It's in the burger van mate.
Remember the Paddy Power billboard situated next to Stamford Bridge that mocked Fernando Torres? After a protracted legal process, Chelsea eventually won the right to have the advert removed on the grounds that it damaged Torres' image rights. But just days after the local council agreed and pulled the billboard down, it's back in digital [.
Chelsea have failed in their attempts to have a billboard mocking misfiring striker Fernando Torres removed. The poster is part of a series of Paddy Power adverts focusing on under-performing Premier League imports. Backed by a TV campaign, the adverts suggest the players should seek alternative employment until they start pulling their weight on the [.
From the bookmaker that brought you Nicklas Bendtner's underpants during Euro 2012 comes a new campaign aimed at rubbing down and out Premier League players' faces in their underachieving ways. As part of a Twitter hashtag campaign "#2ndjobsforsubs" Paddy Power put up a billboard outside Stamford Bridge ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup replay against Brentford last weekend.
Via press release tonight, Seattle Sounders FC announced that they hired CAA to represent their
interests in a new, or renewed kit sponsor after the 2013 season when the current XBox sponsorship
ends. To quote the release;
Seattle Sounders FC has hired CAA Sports to explore opportunities in the marketplace for their
jersey partnership, beginning with the 2014 MLS season, the club announced this afternoon.
Here's a pure football pairing we wholeheartedly support: Seattle Sounders midfielder, Servando
Carassco, and USWNT player, Alex Morgan, are dating. For the past 3.5 years, actually!
In an interview with the Seattle Times, Miss Morgan's MLS rookie boyfriend recently told
how proud he was of her performance at this past Women's World Cup.
Kudos Houston, kudos. After placing a billboard in Dallas saying they are two times better, the
Houston Dynamo marketing folks put this little ad together. Well done.
We're still waiting on FC Dallas to bring a response to the table. The clock is ticking Dallas,
come on!
The Cascadia rivalry gets most of the attention in MLS, but Dallas and Houston are doing their
best to promote the matches between the two teams. The Dynamo recently purchased a billboard
mocking Dallas' lack of championships and prominently showcasing the two Dynamo trophies. Houston
is not the first MLS franchise to purchase an ad in opposing territory, but this represents the
first battle in what promises to be a season long PR war between the teams.
This billboard got things started last year but Saturday's contest with Portland and Seattle
will be an entirely new thing for the league.
As we saw last night, week night is already underway but the weekend slate of games is
jam-packed. Eight games on Saturday and one lone game on Sunday make for one busy weekend.
We know Major League Soccer wants to shove rivalries down our throats, and for good reason too
as they are a big money maker for them and the clubs involved. The Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas are
starting to turn up the heat on their Texas rivalry here this year, ahead of their first meeting
later this month.
Hello there and I hope you're having a fine Thursday. There is still no update to the Robin van
Persie situation, so we're in front of a stop sign at the intersection now. You look to your left
and it's just an empty road with not even a single tree in sight from where you stand, you can see
that the rainbow ends at the end of the road.
Last month during our travels to Malaysia, we tweeted a photo of Gerard Pique on a
billboard as we were driving to the stadium. Many of you asked us what exactly he was
doing and we finally have the answer! Pique was promoting the new Nike Tiempo Legend
IV boots (with a lot of SWAG, Moc Moc!

Posted without comment: Santos' billboard, advertising the club's upcoming World Club Cup jaunt
a tournament that is due, it should be pointed out, to take place in Japan in mid-December...
We used to get made to stand in the corner for doing things like that at primary school just
saying.
The Houston Dynamo planted its flag in Dallas a couple of weeks ago with the above billboard to
build the hype for this weekend's match against Texas rival FC Dallas.
The Red Stripes started their response by flying a "Dallas Til I Die" banner over Houston's
Robertson Stadium, and now and their fans have gotten into the act.
Since this is the inaugural edition of a new daily post, I'll give it a proper introduction!
Welcome to Orange Slices, your daily stop for a roundup of all the Houston Dynamo links and
news. I'll do my best to scour the Internet and find all the news related to the Dynamo that's out
there and I encourage my readers to submit stories either through the comments or via email at

First shot of the new war. 2010.Looking to all the great games this weekend, one stands above the
rest. The Cascadia Rivalry. The Seattle Sounders are hosting their 30+ year rivals the Portland
Timbers. Expect this one to be three things: loud, physical and damned exciting.
Just as the New York/LA game was billed as a battle of the league's most expensive and start
studded teams, this game is billed as the rivalry that never sleeps.
Jose Mourinho has been seen wearing a Chelsea shirt on the streets of London as part of a PR stunt. The Special One appeared in a Blues kit on a digital billboard in Kensington, accompanied by the hashtag slogan #The2ndComing. But the image was just a publicity ploy by the company that owned the billboard.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a ferocious free-kick that makes Roberto Carlos strikes look like apologetic scuffs. Playing mid-week against Universidad de Chile, Sao Paolo's Rafael Toloi ran-up to the ball and smacked it as if he had caught it in bed with his wife. The ensuing abuse of physics [.
Forget what comedy grump Roy 'stick it up yer bollox' Keane said, the Irish fans' performance at
EURO 2012 was worth celebrating, even when their team failed miserably on the pitch. And in
gratitude to the Irish fans' positive attitude and general friendliness, the Mayor of Poznan,Â
Ryszard Grobelny, organised a little gesture of his town's appreciation with this rather nice
billboard.
In the 77th minute of Inter's 0-0 draw against Atalanta on Sunday, Diego Forlan had a moment of
insubordination not entirely unlike when Carlos Tevez "refused" to come off the bench for Man City
during a Champions League match against Bayern Munich earlier this season. Except instead of City
manager Roberto Mancini's approach of publicly stating that Tevez would never play for the club
again before having to go back on that several months later, Inter manager Claudio Ranieri has
taken a calmer approach while still exposing Forlan to the press.
facebook.com While yesterday in the city for New York Fashion Week, Victoria Beckham proved
she has a sense of humor and posed under David Beckham's new underwear billboard while raising her
right hand as if she was grabbing David's family jewels.
Becks actually posted the pic on his Facebook page with the comment:
Ruud Gullit is growing back his famous moustache in support of men's health charity Movember.
Movember, the month formally known as November, challenges men across to show their support for
men's health by growing a Mo (slang for moustache) throughout the month, and this year Ruud Gullit
will be rising to the challenge by growing back his iconic moustache.
Everybody loves Tim Tebow. Denver Broncos fans REALLY love Tim Tebow. A fan upset with Broncos
head coach John Fox for not playing Tim Tebow has purchase two billboards to show his support.
Check out the Tim Tebow billboards pictures below.
These billboards are up in Denver and, honestly, are really ugly.
Credit to Joshua Mayers for digging up this photo that was apparently taken by SoundersFC staff
during the team's visit to Los Angeles. In an interview with the Seattle Times, Servando Carrasco
explained it this way: "That was hilarious. We were pulling up to the hotel in L.A. and of course
we get the red light right (before we) turn left to the hotel and there's a huge Sports Authority
and there's a billboard of her outside.
Nike, long one of the greatest supporters of women's soccer in the United States, has done it
again. Witness the HUGE billboard of Abby Wambach currently residing at 34th and 7th in New York
City. How cool is that? Answer: Very.

For the first few years of Toronto FC's existence, the club, so desperate for a positive spin,
dined out on the media propelled designation that BMO Field had "the best fans in the
league". Boisterous, loud and loyal, the supporters were the only thing worth putting on a
billboard to promote a club so bereft of quality on the pitch.
On twitter last week, I noted the Dynamo's reliance on their cheerleaders (the Dynamo Girls) in
marketing their Party Zone for the first game this year:
Which is eh, but not in itself worthy of a full blog post. However, Amanda at Needs More Kittens
points out that the Dynamo are swapping out actual female fans for Dynamo girls in their promotion
of a soon-to-be-released supporters section of their website:
Amanda:
So, at first I wasn't thrilled with this photo because of how it sexified the female
supporters - I'm a Houston fan and in Texian Army, and while there are a lot of attractive women
around the tailgate, I don't think there are that many half-shirts.
The season is still 10 days away, but branding exercises set in place by our team of marketing
staffers have long been in place. Whether in the form of an ad welcoming Charlie Davies to DC, a
billboard in Adams Morgan, a promotional video truck circling the city, creative packaging for
season ticket delivery, or grassroots activation in action, the talented cast of Kyle Sheldon,
Boris Flores, Amanda Farina, Ben Mahler, Jamie Siegel and Andrew Minucci are at the root of the
project.
