Arsenal Caption Competition No. 93

As there has been a lot of talk of one Arsenal legend returning to Arsenal, I'll give you four points for the funniest caption regarding one of the biggest:

And so the show goes on

So, it's official, Kolo Toure is now a Manchester City player and we, like him, must move on. We'll miss you.

And thank you.

It had to be said.

We had a match last night which started off quite dull but saw us put in our best display of the pre-season.

There are many reasons we love Paddy, most receoently being his decision to put his Arsenal reputation above that of playing for the Spuds, tell him how much you love him, I'll give you four points:

Is this the definitive end of an era?

LadyArse at related • 4 views

Summer transfers bring to and take so much from a club, but none moreso than the potential transfer of Kolo Toure to Manchester City. In terms of squad development, if we get £15m+ for him and use that to buy an adequate replacement we will be no worse off, in fact, a case could be argued that we will be better positioned.

For four points:

Fantastic Five

LadyArse at related • 1 view

Thank goodness there was football last night or I would have nothing other that Super Nik's assertion that he is going nowhere and looking forward to his future with Arsenal to talk about. I really think he is going to be a revelation next season and will score 20+ if given the chance.

Let the fish comments begin (for three points cause it's just too easy):

Long Live The King

LadyArse at related • 1 view

Is it me or do the Spuds and Sunderland seem to be linked with every player linked to us? What's going on there? Are they just saving on scouting and piggy-backing on our system? Are they aiming above themselves or are the papers trying to drag us down to their level?

If a midfielder is available for £5million and goes to Sunderland instead of Arsenal it means we didn't go for him.

Don't go....tell him how you feel for five points:

It seems to be all about Manchester today

LadyArse at related • 0 views

You know, some mornings it's just hard to get out of bed, knowing you have to write a blog which will contain nothing but speculation. Speculation that Eboue will be of to Fiorentina for something stupid like £8million, more crap from Adebayor telling the Emirates Stadium it should come and join him at City and other useless crap.

A whole lot of more nothing

LadyArse at related • 1 view

Good morning all...I've said it before, but I feel it needs mentioning again - Saturdays without football just wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Rumours, rumours, rumours, that's all we seem to have. Everyone connected with Kolo seem adamant he won't be tempted to Man City as they are nowhere near as big a club as Arsenal (well duh!

As I forgot to do a comp yesterday I'll give you double points today (8):

Confusion Reigns

LadyArse at related • 1 view

I reported yesterday that, having watched Arsene's post SC Columbia interview he was reporting that Eduardo would be back in two months. It might have been that I had a migraine brewing, or I wasn't listening properly, or that Arsene misspoke, but it seems that there is nothing wrong with Eduardo and he is raring to go on Monday.

Who forgot to pay the injury fairy again?

LadyArse at related • 1 view

Well, I wouldn't believe it til I heard it from Arsene's mouth, but it seems Eduardo will now not be available for around two months.FFS. We wondered where he was after he appeared on the first day of training only to disappear without explanation. This still doesn't explain it, but at least we don't have to sit around wondering where he is.

Abu's gonna get you...i'll give you four points if you can defend yourself with wit:

Time to do the injury hokey cokey once again

LadyArse at related • 0 views

You put an AM in, you take an AM out, in, out, in, out kick 'em all about...My Man U supporting mate wanted to know if we did kick-boxing in training? Well do we? Who did it? My money's on Vermaelen, he looks like a leg-breaker and possibly hasn't got used to the new kit and thought Nasri was opposition.

Who else was I going to use after today's awful news:

Five points:

Do you hear that? No, neither do I

LadyArse at related • 0 views

Snooze....

Has pre-season started? Why did it go so quiet? So quiet in fact, that Arsenal are even confirming transfer speculation on their website WTF! Since when do we comment on players we are interested in? We say nothing. When others talk, we say nothing. When others bullshit, we say nothing.

Think he's glad Adebayor's gone? Or is it something else...I'll give you three kudos points for the funniest:

And so it returns...or doesn't as the case may be

LadyArse at related • 0 views

Lulled into a false sense of completion, I felt as if the summer was truly over (in a non-footballing sense) after all the commotion of Saturday. I wasn't counting on Sunday.

All Sunday consisted of was gloating by Arsenal fans that Adebayor had gone, and gloating by City fans that he had arrived.

Make us laugh...I'll give you four kudos points:

So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye...Hello Rosicky

LadyArse at related • 0 views

Well, well, well, what went on yesterday? A match, a return, and a departure. It was quite a day.

Let's get the departure out of the way so we can move on permanently and Adebayor has officially left and is now Manchester City's problem player. For the doubters there was even a picture of him looking strange in Man City's kit, followed by an interview in which he talks in that typical Adebayor way.

In hounour of Rosicky's return today at Underhill, a game which finished 2-2, I'll give you four points:

Adebayor finally joins CIty?

LadyArse at related • 0 views

Well, well, well, here we are on a footballing day. OK, so it's a friendly, and it's against Barnet, but that's not the point. The squad was announced yesterday and while Rosicky was included Eduardo was not. Given that he returned in the first wave of players it is hard not to be concerened about his abscence, butI'm still half asleep and my worry-circuits aren't fully functioning.

Let's hear them for five points:

Almost there

LadyArse at related • 0 views

In a last ditch attempt to save what is left of his reputation (a few tatters and a shred from what I hear), the 25 has asked for a few days to 'consider' his move to Man City. From what I can tell, he is concerned how the move will be perceived in Togo and he wouldn't want to give the impression that he was only moving because of the money.

Arsenal Caption Competition No. 81

LadyArse at related • 0 views

Two points...who deserves them?

Has he gone yet?

LadyArse at related • 1 view

So yesterday consisted of another round of waiting. And waiting. And waiting. Still Adebayor was an Arsenal player. He passed his medical (allegedly), the fee rose from £22m to £25 to an estimated £28 after add-ons (which I seriously hope are not Opta-linked). He has been on the verge for days now, won't someone just push him over?

Underused in this competition and the squad in general, for 4 points let's have 'em:

Things are shaping up

LadyArse at related • 0 views

So yesterday we all got ourselves a little bit excited at the thought of the 25 heading North. We then spent the entire day waiting for, waiting for, well, waiting for fucking something, anything. And what did we get? Mark Hughes saying 'yes we're in discussions with Arsenal but no we haven't agreed anything.

LadyArse at related • 1 view

Well, well, well, you throw a hissy fit over lack of news one day and looks what happens...the 25 has half his lazy ass out the door and on his way for 'footballing' (LMAO) reasons to City for a cool £20million. Say it with me T.WE.N.T.Y.M.I.L.L.I.O.N.P.O.U.N.D.S. 20. Million. LMAO stopped laughing yet?

It's bad enough when almost every newspaper, website, and blog (by people who should know better) jump on the Laporta bandwagon and run with a different version of the same 'Cesc to Barca' story, it really is, but this summer has surpassed anything which has come before. Now, not only is Cesc apparently off to Barcelona, they are using Hleb and Gudjohnsen to 'sweeten' the deal.

Good morning peeps, sorry about yesterday, wasn't feeling to great and to be honest I'm still not this morning so apologies for whatever state this ends up in.

In a way, I'm kinda glad I didn't blog yesterday as Arsenal 'news' and blogs were dominated by the farce of a story that is 'Cesc to Spain'.

Yes, Van the Man finally signed (OFFICIAL) a new long-term contract (so what's that four years?). Finally. So I guess he's liking what he's seen so far this summer and hopefully has been hearing about all these other wonder-players we've got lined up for 11.

No Eboue, no Adebayor, no Van Persie, no Kolo no explanation, yep, the first photos from pre-season where released yesterday and they pose quite a few questions. Cesc and Theo were absent from them also but they came with an explanation, and, to be fair, there were a few others missing from the shots which you can see here.

Nike finally manage to get something to look good

LadyArse at related • 31 views

It is a sad, sad reflection of the dearth of news out there that my title story is about the ethical deviants that are Nike. Despite their (usually successful) efforts to turn everything Arsenal-related about our kit into something generic, they managed to make our not-so-bad, not-so-great keeper look like a world-beater, or should that be world-saver?

OMG is it over yet? Has the football returned? Can I have some Diprivol until it starts? There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING going on out there in the world of Arsenal.

There has been no official confirmation of VP's resigning, Adebayor is staying if he must but will probably go, we haven't signed anyone else, FC Burgerbap have still not signed (or even bid) for Arshavin and Michael Jackson is still dead.

Just in case, he's on his way, let's honour Ebour today by using a photo of one of his finer moments for5 points:

now for some shameless advertising:

Hello Melo, Bye-Bye Eboue?

LadyArse at related • 5 views

This is a strange little story. First we wanted him, then we didn't, then we did only for him to turn round after the Confederations Cup and sign an extension with Fiorentina. As he only had one year left on his contract everyone assumed it would be so that Fiorentina could get the best price for him next season.

6 points just cause I didn't forget this one today:

Morning folks and another quickie today as my head is absolutely bouncing. This heat is playing with my sinuses in a totally inappropriate, non-hayfever way and it is driving me insane. Do you care? Probably not, but trust me, you would if you had to listen to me moan all day!

So, according to the Independent VP has finally remembered how a pen works and signed a new deal keeping him at Arsenal until 2014.

LadyArse at related • 2 views
Well we do, and not only do we know that he's is a wonderkid who will become a wondergrownup, we also know that he has committed his future to Arsenal. Long term contracts rock when they aren't signed by anyone called Silvestre, Gallas, or Adebayor. VP? Any chance?

There seems to be some confusion over whether Gallas is wanting to stay or away, but I don't really care to be honest.

So I made a grand statement in my comeback blog yesterday that I had a funny feeling about Benzema and the rumours surrounding our alleged interest in him. Turns out it was a strange feeling, but it was indigestion rather than any sort of psychic ability. Pop a Rennie and Benzema heads to Real Madrid for €far more than we would have paid.

The LadyArse Returns

LadyArse at related • 0 views

Good morning all, LadyArse is back from her summer holidays and raring to go. Why I'm talking about myself in the third person I have no idea, perhaps it's the heat and my brain has finally melted. Who could tell if that was the case?

Something I feel I should start with is the transfer window, which, despite the widely held belief, does not start today, it started at midnight after the last game of the season.
