In the furious neverending November rain, Fulham made one mistake and lost the game. James
McFadden, a quality player in an average Birmingham side, clipped a ball over the Fulham back four
to Lee Bowyer, Bowyer flipped the ball over Mark Schwarzer, and the ball nestled in the net.Â
1-0.  Bowyer was clean through because only three of the Fulham back four pushed up at the same

The Fulham fans were chanting,' Easy, easy!'. The grim look on Rafael Benitez's face spoke a
thousand words in the aftermath of yet another mauling for his Liverpool team. He probably reckoned
that last weekend's Manchester United win was a one off thing and Liverpool were not out of slump
yet. Liverpool lost 3-1 to Fulham in Craven Cottage.

What goes around comes around eh? Less than a week after hauling Michael Owen down as the last
man, Jamie Carragher got his just desserts. In the first half, Carragher fell in to Zamora in the
penalty area but the referee let him off the hook again. It was a case of three strikes
and your out for Carragher though, with the Liverpool defender finally handed a straight red card
for rugby tackling his opponent.

Liverpool will appeal the red cards shown to Jamie Carragher and Philip Degen; Rafael Benitez has
confirmed. Degen's challenge was more worthy of a yellow than a red; but it was still a bit
wreckless, whereas Carragher's could be rescinded if the FA watch the replays and decide if firstly
Zamora was offside; and the fact [.

Little to say after what promises to be one of the most surreal thirty minutes in recent
memory.
Chronologically:
-Torres off, Ryan Babel on. Apparently uninjured. Maybe with the midweek Champions League
fixture in mind...but after that first half stunner, tough pill to swallow.
-Goal Fulham.

insightful enough to place a bet on Brown to win the Premiership sack race are
probably in for a nice betting bonus, while those of you thinking about doing that now should know
the betting is suspended.

An understated triumph, I suspect.  It was a ragged game for sure, but Basel are a serious
team, and our boys beat them. That's pretty good going, and we're now top of the group.
Hodgson blended possibles and probables, bringing in Kelly, Baird, Smalling, Riise and Greening
