Manchester United are through to the Youth Cup quarter-final following a 5-1 victory over
Swansea. Gyliano van Velzen scored twice and the other goals came from Jack Barmby, Sam Byrne and
Tyler Blackett. Barmby and Blackett particularly shone.
United will now play against the winners of the Charlton and Tottenham tie on a fortnight.

so bleak after all? And now, let's drop back down to earth by contemplating the weekend's fortunes
of our senior so-called professionals [.

Liverpool FC youngster Marc Pelosi revealed on Twitter a few days ago that he was mugged by a
couple of 'angry scousers', which is not the greatest welcome to a new city (!). Thankfully, Pelosi
wasn't hurt, and he seems to be settling in well despite that experience.
Speaking after the draw with Stoke in the FA Youth Cup, the midfielder, said:
"I'm really liking it.

This team is rapidly becoming one of the most technically gifted youth teams the club has ever
seen. Under the spotlights at Moss Lane on a cold rainy night, United's young hopefuls made light
work of a determined Torquay United side that set up, at times, with 7 men at the back. Goals from
van [...]
It's difficult not to dwell on last years tremendous journey through the stages of the competition

expectations; this seasons is [.

If I asked the majority of United fans ‘what's been the most disappointing moment of the

So? What did we learn at Bramall Lane last Tuesday night? Well, I think we learnt that after
disposing of Aston Villa in the semi-final we were right not to underestimate Sheffield United's
young Blades. Did United's players underestimate them? I don't think so. But, I do believe they
were a tad shocked when they woke up from the dead after thirty five minutes!
The most startling stat surrounding the 1st leg of this FA Youth Cup final is that more than
29,977 expectant fans turned up to watch the match. The attendance is even more startling given
that it's Sheffield United's highest gate of the season (yes, including all competitions at all
levels) beating the previous highest by fully 6,000 (cue the chant "Come to see United, you've only
come to see United.
A record 19 League titles, another record 11 FA Cups and with a great chance of lifting a tenth FA
Youth Cup which will keep Manchester United ahead of Arsenal on seven. How can anyone possibly
argue...

It's here, and it's not going unnoticed despite being surrounded by other events and
achievements gained by the club's more illustrious and decorated first team squad. There's a
certain hype about this year's FA Youth Cup final, nothing emphasised this more than the 24,000
tickets that had already been sold by Wednesday last week, Bramall Lane holds just shy of
33,000.
While you are watching the first-teamers take on the Brummies at the Bridge tomorrow, please
spare a thought for the youth boys as they play the second leg of the FA Youth Cup semifinal
against the Mancs.
Or, you can try to multitask like me put the first team on the television and mute it, then pull
up Chelsea TV on the laptop to watch the Youth Cup.
The good news is that Yossi Benayoun played 20 minutes for Israel yesterday, Alex has returned
to full training with the squad, and it seems that our first teamers emerged unscathed from the
international break.
The bad news is that one of our star players in the Youth Cup run, Billy Clifford, injured his
knee in training yesterday.
Manchester United Youth team captain Paul Pogba stepped up to take a penalty during the FA Youth
Cup quarter final against Liverpool at Anfield. The spot kick was successfully converted but

Manchester United came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Anfield in the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals,
in a game that saw two players from each side sent off. Larnell Cole scored United's first from the
penalty spot, after Paul Pogba was bizarrely shown a second yellow for dummying his penalty kick.
Ravel Morisson went on to score two goals, the second of which five minutes before time, to see
United through to the semis to face Chelsea.
Liverpool's starlet Raheem Sterling netted five (5) goals in 9-0 rout of Southend at
Anfield.
The comprehensive victory moved the Under 18 footballers into the quarter-finals of the FA Youth
Cup.
Sterling's first goal came in the 18th minute, and completed his hat trick in the first half, he
concluded his five goal haul in the 85th minute.
That Billy Clifford. He can play.
So, too, can Josh McEachran. But you already knew that. Nathaniel Chalobah, he's the monster
Chelsea are obviously trying to keep under wraps. On recent displays, the world will soon know of
the native of Sierra Leone.
They're not alone.
Thai Port Under 19's had to settle for a 1-1 draw against BEC-Tero Under 19's in today's FA Youth
Cup tie. The game was due to be played in Khlong Toei, but was switched to Tephasadin Stadium
because the repaired and partially re-laid turf at PAT Stadium is not yet ready for use.

The last and only time Wolves have been victorious in the FA Youth Cup was back in 1958 over 50
years ago but we have reached the final six times. But that was not to be this year. Wolves lost to
