Manchester United's U-18 team beat Everton 4-1 today with Mason Greenwood scoring twice and with Largie Ramazani and James Garner also getting on the scoresheet.

Ahead of kick-off, United were just one point clear of Everton, who had a game in hand on us. The win sees us go four points clear of Everton and Liverpool at the top of the table, with both of them having a game in hand.

Manchester United's U-18 team beat Sunderland on Saturday thanks to two goals from Tahith Chong. Chong has missed 10 months with a serious knee injury but since returning he has made six appearances for the U-18s and U-19s, where he's scored four goals and won two penalties.

This game wasn't without incident though, with Sunderland going down to 10 men when the game was level.

Manchester United's U-17 team won the Sparkasse VGH Cup today after beating Austria Vienna on penalties following the 1-1 draw. This tournament is for U-19 teams and this is the second consecutive year that United have lifted the trophy.

They beat Eintracht Braunschweig 2-1 in the first round, Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 in the second round, Mainz 5-2 in the quarter-finals, and Fulham 2-0 in the semi-finals.

The annual study published by CIES Football Observatory has revealed that Manchester United has the best academy in England and the third best in Europe, behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Their statistics are based on the 'training clubs' of players employed for at least three seasons between the ages of 15 and 21 in the top five European leagues.

It could also mean the return of Ravel Morrison who started training with Wigan last week. The 23-year-old left Italian side Lazio after making just eight appearances in 18 months.

It is the earliest photo of Van Basten included in the Getty Images archive, but we just so happened to have stumbled across an official document that includes that features an even younger image of the striker who would ultimately go on to become a three-time Ballon d'Or winner.

With the youngest squad there, United won the trophy in extraordinary circumstances. Goalkeeper Moutha-Sebtaoui received an injury on the last day of the tournament, meaning outfield players keeping goal in true 5-aside style for the final few matches.
