The first soccer operations move the Union made was the one that sold me on the team. When, in
2009, the Union announced the hiring of United States U-23 coach Peter Nowak as manager, it
signaled--at least to me--that the team was putting careful thought into how the team would be
constructed. Nowak, even before becoming the face of the Union--and due respect to, at different
times, Danny Califf, Sebastien Le Toux, and the Sons of Ben, he is--has been considered something
of a legend in Major League Soccer.
By Michael Lewis - HARRISON, NJ (Jul 16, 2010) US Soccer Players -- The names line up like a who's
who of soccer greats in the past 20 years or so. They are the Chosen Ones. Roberto Donadoni Branco

were World Cup champions.
Are we at all sure that Youri hasn't been hired by Red Bull already?
The French legend has been planting seeds in France, playing Red Bull ambassador in the hopes of
attracting his countrymen stateside through interviews like the one he had with football-ravageur,
a French footy outlet.
He has some great insights on the successes and short comings of David Beckham, the measure of
MLS against other leagues and the possibility of including more French players to the league
structure.
After the transfer of David Beckham to Major League Soccer (MLS) has had increased exposure and
interest from abroad. Many of the European players now view MLS as a realistic choice, especially
as they wind down their careers. The success of Freddie Ljungberg with the Seattle Sounders has
only increased the interest from European players.
Mark Chajkowsky of the Philadelphia Soccer Examiner is reporting that Inter Milan midfielder
Patrick Vieira is interested in Major League Soccer. The French national team star revealed the
breaking news in an interview with Orange Sport.
"I still have a year left on my contract and I think it will be my last in Europe at the highest
level," Vieira told Orange Sport.
Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira's future could soon land him in MLS.
Vieira revealed on Saturday that this will be his last year playing football in Europe, and that
he is considering plying his trade in the United States in 2010. Vieira also stated that former
French international Youri Djorkaeff had a role in convincing him of playing in MLS.

Could aging French International Patrick Vieira be showing up in the US next summer? So far it
doesn't seem to be much more than Vieira making a comment in the press about maybe doing it. The
ol' soccer equivalent of "I'd like to get married someday".

Football and music often goes hand in hand. Unfortunately for modern spectators, this relationship
is less obvious nowadays as footballers choose to channel their musicality more passively. The

BWFC24's round up of Premier League Previews for the 2009â2010 season which starts tomorrow,
Saturday, August 15, 2009.
Overall, the predictions for The Wanderers is fairly grim, as you might expect. On average
Bolton are expected to finish around 13th or 14th. Personally I think BWFC will finish higher than
expected, hopefully in the top 10 and may reach the semi-finals in either the FA or Leauge Cup.

Italy are one of the toughest rivals to play against and their record says everything, even though
there are other teams who are playing well in the tournament.
For as bad a stadium as The Swamp could be, Giants Stadium was the backdrop for a few of the most
outlandish goals you'll ever see. Mathis' marathon goal against Dallas, Woly's infamous upper 90
banger, and Youri Djorkaeff and Juan Pablo Angel's zero-angle game-winners were all set in that
soccer purgatory in East Rutherford.
Former France international and MetroStars/New York Red Bulls player Youri Djorkaeff spoke to
media at halftime of the final game at Giants Stadium Saturday. Djorkaeff was asked if he had
spoken to Thierry Henry, who is reportedly seeking a spot on next year's Red Bulls squad. While not
mentioning Henry by name, Djorkaeff's answer was nonetheless telling.
As I swallow the last bits and pieces of vomit stuck in the back of my throat from the W
Connection game, and the subsequent silence from the Austrian Overlords, I think I am ready to get
back to work!
Tomorrow.
So until then, enjoy this little bit of Metro Memories . . . Youri's first goal as a
Metrostar.
RED BULLS PREVIEW - 2008
Let me begin by saying - this is completely based on the team as currently configured. I know April
15th is right around the corner, and 2 signings can change everything, but this is the current
situation.
With that said . . .
Lets begin with a Haiku . .
Thierry Henry, once again, has stated his desire to play in the United
States.
In particular . . . . New York.
Big thanks to Ives, who is absolutely the most reliable source there is in the MLS. When is he
ever wrong?! Especially when he gets it from the Times! Love ya.
This is not the first time Henry has expressed interest in our little team.

1) The Columbus Crew's home unbeaten streak in all competitions is over with the CONCACAF Champions
League loss to Cruz Azul. You may have heard that they broke the record for the regular season with
19 straight games back in July. However, they also managed to just do enough to break the overall
streak as well.
After the success of the Showdown in Chinatwon, Stevie Nash has decided to take the show(down) out
west to Vancouver. Highlights and inteviews in the clip above, including an appearance by one of
the best players ever to grace MLS, Youri Djorkaeff, in the 7th minute.

Will Mark Noble fulfill his potential in the heart of West Ham's midfield? The local East Londoner
(pictured above, top) is one of the gems of Tony Carr's famed Youth Academy, and Hammers supporters
warm to him even more than most because he was born and bred as one of them.
