Good day to everyone. Only 3 days in and we already have our first concern of the international break. Let it be known that none of our players have even played a match yet, not one that is classified as competitive anyway. Yet, it didn't stop an alarm from going off yesterday.
The young guns along with the first teamers who are not getting the requisite playing time take to the pitch in the newly named Capital One Cup tonight, and it should give us a huge insight into the next generation along with the strength in depth the first team have. The game is not going to be broadcast anywhere live, so no streams will be available, which is fine by me as I'm through to the latter stages of an online poker tournament kicking off at the same time.
Ducky's Note: After we featured Joe Allen in our first Liverpool
post in almost as much time as it took Torres to score for Chelsea, we seem to have opened
the floodgates, at least by this site's Liverpool-post-frequency standards. So next up we have
Arunkumar Sekhar, picking through Liverpool's transfer dealings with a numerical
obsession nearing John Nash's.
Arsenal off to a great start in the NextGen series byAM Arsenal's young guns have got off to a
great start to their European campaign in the NextGen series. The Gunners faced off against
Marseille in their first group game at the Underhill Stadium. Arsenal went on to win the match 3-0
in a very [...]
Let's face it, we have all become sick of the story. Arsenal gradually and painstakingly bring
through players from various avenues of the youth development programme only to find they have
Barca DNA, a dodgy hamstring or are just plain unsuited to the Premier League.

Any chance there's a monster of a player waiting to come out?
Still pissed over the RvP thing? Yeah, well so am I. But if you're on any social network, this
topic probably has been discussed to the death and all points exhausted. Thus I'm not going to
touch it on here. Whatever happens, happens.
Micky's post on Sunday: ‘Calling International Gooners', in which he asked why ‘millions of
bright eyed and highly intelligent young guns from around the globe discovered their spiritual
homes at The Arsenal', led to a fantastic collection of comments. It became very clear there is a
great support for Arsenal across the world and that the passion, with which International Gooners
(IGs) support the mighty Arsenal, is equal to that of those who are based on British soil.

ARSENAL's youngsters will grow up considerably over the summer after the experiences of a
topsy-turvy season and the Gunners could well be stronger as a result. That's the opinion of former
Arsenal central defender Martin Keown, who reckons young Guns such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and
Aaron Ramsey can only learn from a campaign that started terribly had a few wobbles along the way
but concluded with Arsene Wenger's side claiming third spot in the Premier League and in so doing a
place in next season's Champions League.
Lieutenant-Colonel Richard DidIt DSO and Bar, otherwise known as My Great Uncle Dick DidIt, was
far from the hero his gongs would imply. The reality is that the man was simply a massive Con
Artist, or what we refer to these days as a Salesman. History is littered with such rogues. Stan
Flashman, Gerald Ratner and Harry Redknapp all spring to mind.

It's well known that before giving his Young Guns a chance to show their skills for Arsenal,
manager Arsene Wenger usually sends the club's young and talented out on loans. There are usually
two loan periods which occur before the player gets to be a first-teamer, and it happened the same
way with Wilshere and [.
Thomas Rosicky has just been rewarded with a new two-year contract at Arsenal despite being 31
years of age, which is a massive departure from Arsene Wenger's policy regarding older players. But
the Czech international thinks that Arsene Wenger's Young Guns need expeienced players like him to
keep them calm when the going gets tough.
Not content to simply score on goalkeepers at a near Ro-Messian rate, Robin van Persie seems to
have made it his mission to break them down mentally, as well. Even if they happen to be his
international teammates.
Throughout Arsenal's match against Newcastle on Monday, Van Persie, who scored an equalizer
seconds after Hatem Ben Arfa put the Magpies up 1-0 in the 14th minute, verbally prodded goalkeeper
Tim Krul.
My apologies for the delay. Last night was taken up by watch the best action-adventure movie of
all time in IMAX, Raiders of the Lost Ark.
A surprisingly young team started against the Timbers on Wednesday night. Casey was given the night
off, Cummings was with Jamaica, and Mullan was given a chance to rest for most of the game after
his Achilles injury in Portland.
Young Gunner Henri Lansbury, currently on loan with West Ham United, has a habit of grabbing the
headlines. Just recently, the gifted midfielder was deputising (rather well) in goal for the
Hammers but against Belgium U21s on Wednesday night, Lansbury scored a rather spectacular goal
early on.
Last night's game was a lot of fun. No pressure to win, no expectations for three points. Really
it was all about having fun and watching our home team challenge a team from one of the best
leagues in the world. More than that, though, it was a bit of a revelation watching the Portland
Timbers young guns strut their stuff in front of an increasingly lethargic starting XI side.
Aston Villa scored late in the first half, but the Portland Timbers young guns didn't give up.
Through hard work and effort the Timbers twice came back from one-goal deficits to tie the game on
goals from Sebastian Rincon and Rodney Wallace. In the obligatory shoot out all but Bright Dike
scored, and the Timbers lost 2-2 (5-4).
Well, that didn't take long. Seven minutes, to be exact.
The Portland Timbers' big summer investment looks to be a worthwhile one as Kris Boyd, the
newly-acquired Designated Player, grabbed the go-ahead goal in the 7th minute of Portland's 1-0
win over Swedish outfit AIK.
Woo! Young guns having some fun, crazy ladies keep 'em on... *ahem*. Here's our list of the top
ten tyros we'll be watching with great interest over the course of the European Championships this
summer. Starting, as is custom, with number one...
Although major international tournaments aren't necessarily the best time to give your young guns a
run out, some of the most fascinating prospects in European football will be in Ukraine and Poland
this summer. OTP chooses the top ten players under 23 to keep your eye on. With a video to

The New England Revolution is preparing to close out a two-match extended road trip (they never
returned to Foxboro after the LA game) against FC Dallas in Frisco. The Revs are brimming with
confidence and enthusiasm after dominating the Galaxy 3-1 in LA. Dallas, meanwhile, was just
spanked 4-1 by D.
Full credit to Osasuna who played like they had nothing to fear against their vaunted
opposition. Pep Guardiola resting Xavi, Iniesta, and Fabregas on the bench for the Bayer Leverkusen
CL first leg sent in Thiago Alcantara, Pedro, and Sergi Roberto. The latter breaking into the first
squad, all of four games old, completed the rejiggered midfield.
Focus is on the stars, the big stars in Alessandro Del Piero and Emile Heskey, but for many fans of the A-League seeing the young players develop is equally, if not more, exciting.
We've seen heaps of players leave for better contracts over the years. Tommy Oar, Matthew Leckie, Luke De Vere, Nathan Burns, Mustafa Amini and many many more and who didn't want to watch these guys?
I've been working on this post pretty much since a very young, John Hackworth-led Philadelphia
Union side took down their older opponents on Saturday night, PDL Mid-Atlantic Division leaders
Reading United AC. Then on Wednesday, the Union called a press conference in which Union supremo
Nick Sakiewicz told the world, "that Peter Nowak is stepping down as our head coach and team
manager.
Quick Recap: Portland started a mix of the first XI and the game day 18 players but it wasn't
enough to keep Valencia from getting the first goal. At the half the subs all came in and the young
guns got their chance to show what they can do but they could not find the back of the net despite
having some good opportunities.
Sunday, May 13, 2012. Stoney's Pub, Wilmington, DE. 3:35pm.
In only the third year of the Philadelphia Union's existence, our worst nightmare came true. Our
club lost to the New York Red Bulls at home.
For the crew of hardcore supporters that were at Stoney's, the fact that our side played one of
the better 90 minute matches we had seen in a while and the fact that a group of young guns help
close - playing with 10 men for most of the game - meant nothing.
Another week in the books and one that saw more movement in the weekly Power Rankings.
Tier one lost a club while a couple clubs inched their way into the bottom mess of clubs. Still,
a lot is going on here and we're starting to get a decent handle on who are the top sides in each
conference and who are the bottom clubs.
There was a lot to like about Sunday's Grand Final. And here's a few that had me thinking.
1. The number of young Aussies getting football experience in front of over 50,000 fans in a
pressure cooker.
For the Roar - Luke Bratton took centre stage no less - Nick Fitzgerald lit up the flank and James
Meyer had a run, while the Glory's Josh Risdon was tested all afternoon and Scott Neville came on
late.
The young guns in Oklahoma City continue to show they are the team to beat in the Western
Conference. On Thursday, the Thunder traveled to Los Angeles for another test against the Lakers.
The result? A 102-93 victory to move eight games ahead of the third place Lakers.
The Thunder were led by Russell Westbrook's 36 points.
Manchester United unsurprisingly failed to advance into the next round of Europa League after
they suffered another defeat against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday, giving the Spanish team a passage
with a convincing 5-3 aggregate.
In a rather similar fashion as United's defeat in the first leg, the scoreline was indeed rather
flattering for the English champion as they were once again outplayed by the Bilbao young guns and
could've faced an embarrassment on the night if it wasn't for the Basque's based team's poor
finishing.
