Sacha Kljestan was the only Yank in Belgium to see action this weekend as Anderlecht continue their
winning ways in Pro League action.
Stan Kroenke is going to have to think about changing his nickname. He has been blabbing so much
lately that the ‘Silent' tag is starting to feel a tad ironic, a bit like ‘Little' John (Robin
Hood's giant buddy) or ‘Curly' from the Three Stooges (he was bald) or John ‘Not At All Racist'
Terry.
A pair of all-Yank encounters saw Michael Parkhurst and Nordsjaelland score a win over Chris Rolfe
and Aalborg, while Brad Rusin and Connor O'Brien both saw sub action in SonderjyskE's win over
Koge.
Belgium is kind of boring. So are PK's. But hey a goal is a goal, particularly when it is scored by
a Yank in Europe. So watch Sacha Kljestan get hacked in the box, score the ensuing kick from the
spot and do a silly celebration dance if only so that you can say you to yourself "I already saw
that" when it shows up in your Twitter feed.

Now, a bit of good and bad news as far as Bolton fans are concerned.
First the good. Stuart Holden has just tweeted this photo of him filming the new line-up and
headshot thingamajigs for Sky Sports next season and, as you can see, both of his legs appear to be
working nicely in fact, the Yank midfielder even tentatively returned to light training on Monday
(his 26th birthday, no less) after shattering his knee in a challenge with Jonny Evans over five
months ago.
By Jason Davis - WASHINGTON, DC (Jul 28, 2011) US Soccer Players -- I've dedicated a few words in
this space recently to the question of whether American ownership abroad has any obligation to
promote American players at their clubs. They don't, but that doesn't mean some of them won't
attempt to bolster a presence in the New World by bringing in a Yank or two.
International friendlies aren't exactly intense affairs or even matches that count for anything,
but even friendlies have limits on what you should and shouldn't do.
Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli learned that the hard way after taking a wide-open
scoring chance and throwing it away by trying an absurd spin and back-heel shot rather than burying
an easy scoring chance.
Drogba is so fine. So fine.
Bangkok son. Our boys continue their trek through Asia today in the city of big, nasty, graphic
dreams. Who do we play? A merry, talented band affectionately known as the Thailand All-Stars.
What do I know about them? Absolutely nothing.
What more could you want? Stuart Holden and an ANTI-GRAVITY TREADMILL. How cool does that sound?
Very cool. Anyway, I've mentioned this contraption before as both Holden and Ricketts are using it
as a part of their recovery. It basically allows the players to rebuild their muscle memory (and
muscles themselves) with minimal stress on the joint.

The United States eeked out a 1-0 win over Guadeloupe Tuesday at Livestrong Park to move on to
the Gold Cup knockout rounds and face Jamaica in Washington, D.C. on Sunday.
Tuesday's game was a tale of a fatigued squad two fatigued squads with the States having more
talent than their opponent, enough to subsist for the win.
Good Day SSNers!!
Beppe Signori among those arrested in Italian match-fixing probe, Alan Smith picks a World XI to
beat Barcelona, Top 10 UEFA Champions League goals ever, The Big Interview is Darren Bent, Tim
Vickery provides some perspective on the FIFA situation, Yank Abroad Marcus Hahnemann let go by
Wolves, Jon Carter rewinds to 1985 and the post-Heysel reforms, Fabregas and Van Persie go see the
Mets, The Mill is working around the clock on transfer rumors and much more!
According to the Steven Goff, our DaMarcus is in Mexico meeting with Pachuca. I'm not him and I'm
not a player but if the numbers in Goff's piece are to be believed I kinda think I'd stay in
Germany and collect my check or come home and play for less money before I'd go to Mexico.
Pachuca's a fine club, my favorite in Mexico if I have one, but something about that league as a
whole just seems like the DMZ between playing domestically and playing abroad.
An all-Yank matchup awaits in the third round of the Norwegian Cup, as Steve Clark and Honefoss
will look to defend their home turf against Mikkel Diskerud and Stabaek.
Really, it had to be him. The Yank lit up the Reebok this season, putting in great performance
after great performance. He orchestrated our midfield, sending promising balls through to his
strikers and wingers. He worked hard, making tackles for every ball that he lost and then some. He
celebrated every goal his teammates scored, and got a few of his own back.
by Dru Boyer Very limited action for the Yanks Abroad this week, however the EPL featured a couple
Yank doubles. Until the magic of Wednesday night's CONCACAF Champions League Final, I was going
to make Mo Edu my player of the week for putting in 180 minutes in Glasgow and propelling the Gers
back to [.
Stuart Holden will miss the FA Cup semifinal for Bolton but two all-Yank affairs sees Tim Howard
and Jermaine Jones go head-to-head while Jonathan Spector welcomes Michael Bradley and Brad Friedel
to Upton Park.
By Jon Levy Five months ago I wrote a feature for this site entitled MB Donde: What's Next For US
Soccer's Best Prospect? The piece was a relatively straightforward look into the club team future
of a young Yank on the precipice of his playing prime. Now I'm no Plato or Kant, but in this [...]
The weekend's Danish action could see a pair of all-Yank encounters across two divisions as Viborg
try to escape the basement against visiting Aarhus and Aalborg looking to do the same on their trip
to Brondby.
by Dru Boyer Welcome to another Yanks Abroad round-up. Not too much action with FA Cup matches
taking place in England, but nearly every Yank in action performed for 90 minutes. Player of the
week honors to Brad Guzan and his 13 saves. Consistent playing time has to be a huge plus for
Guzan, and [.
Stuart Holden is the only Yank slated to start in this weekends FA Cup Quater Finals as Bolton
travel to Birmingham in a limited weekend in English action.
By Dru Boyer Not a very exciting week for the Yanks Abroad, although we did witness some hot Yank
on Yank action in the EPL. I'll give my player of the week honors to Steve Cherundolo for being
part of a 3-1 smack down of Bayern and having Hannover on pace for a Champions League [...]
Week 10 in the Mexican Clausura kicks off with Isaac Acuna and Gallos Blancos hosting Edgar
Castillo's Puebla while Pachuca's yank duo of Jose Francisco Torres and Herculez Gomez welcome in
Atlante.
You'll forgive me for the tardiness of this recap, but I needed a 24-hour reprieve from all
things Chelsea to clear my head. This was as hard a loss to swallow as we've endured this campaign.
If you could have predicted this outcome, then you'd probably be a rich man right now- or a
Liverpool fan.

As an All- American standout who has seen success both as a Yank and in the European club
sphere, Charlie Davies has long since been on every MLS fan's list of Americans who need to come
back across the pond. Just as we all hope to see the likes of Jozy Altedore, Michael Bradly, and
perhaps even Freddy Adu back in MLS, Davies was a daydream of an MLS signing.
Jeremy Vuolo has become the latest yank to play in Scandinavia after signing a one year contract
with AC Oulu of the Finnish Veikkausliiga late last week.
What a match. We were suddenly back to the United of old: the careless start then attacking
flair and literal bloody mindedness to win at any cost. There would always be blood, sweat and
tears at Bloomfield Road, just as there was at Burnley last year. I feared that before the match
and especially when we went a goal down early on.
Jonathan Bornstein was the lone yank to see action in the Mexican Clausura as Tigres continued
America's misery with a last minute victory in El Azteca.
Jeff Cunningham could very well become the latest yank in Norway as the former FC Dallas man is
currently on a training stint with Elitserien club IK Start.
