Why So Many British Asians Choose LFC

1
The lifelong Red has spent the last year researching and writing a book on the subject.

The Asian Liverbird, which was commissioned by the club after an approach by Bhana, explores how immigrants from Asia came to choose LFC upon arriving in England in the Sixties and Seventies – and why, generations later, their children and grandchildren are still wearing red. Arsenal are considering offering Steven Appiah a contract after the player admitted he would relish a move to the Premier League. The Ghana international is now a free agent after being released by Turkish side Fenerbahce and can still sign for any outside the transfer window.

Arsene Wenger is keen to add to his midfield options after missing out on Gareth Barry and Xabi Alonso during August and Appiah looks a suitable candidate. Click to continue reading...

No Signings Before the Deadline...What's Your Response?

2
Hello all. I'm still alive if anyone was wondering, I just haven't had a good chance to write in ages. Since I last posted we won 3-0 against Newcastle which was a great result, and the transfer window closed last night. I waited up watching the news tickers on and off all day hoping for Xabi Alonso, or anyone else for that matter, and it just never happened. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal signs no one

4

The transfer window has now come and gone. And to a bit of surprise, Wenger signed no one, although reports indicate he did make an effort to go after Xabi Alonso. In fact, the biggest signings for us yesterday were the youngsters Kieran Gibbs and Mark Randall agreeing to contract extensions.

The Alonso signing would be hard to pull off, because Rafa Benitez would be a bit off his rocker to agree a transfer fee to a direct rival without getting much more than the player is actually worth.

Nobody in, it seems, on a mad, bad day for football

4

So transfer deadline day has come and gone with seemingly no activity from Arsenal. I'm told that we were in negotiations with Liverpool over the signing of Xabi Alonso but as yet no announcement has been forthcoming and at this point it seems unlikely.

Had a deal been reached then we'd probably have heard about it by now.

Benitez: Alonso Will Stay

0
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has reiterated that he wants to keep Xabi Alonso at Anfield.

The midfielder has been linked with Juventus and Arsenal throughout the summer transfer window and it was thought he could leave to finance a move for Aston Villa's Gareth Barry.

Good Game - Bad Game vs Aston Villa

0
On the face of it, a 0-0 draw away at a side with genuine top four ambitions isn't such a bad deal especially if your best two players are out injured. Such justifications may be easy to find yet it is wrong to find comfort in them for the truth is that Liverpool could have won at Villa Park. For all the hype surrounding them, with their hyped up wide players being kept quite Aston Villa didn't show anything special. Click to continue reading...

Arsene has big decisions to make

3

The fallout from the Fulham game has not been pretty. Condemnation of the performance and the wafer thin squad has been widespread, and rightly so.

I've already said plenty about what we need to do about it so it is somewhat depressing to hear the manager say we're not close to signing anyone.

Cesc Makes Me Forget About Fulham...Well, Almost

0
Morning all, or afternoon or whatever it is where you are. Yesterday was a miserable day for us. I'm sure you read my rant about Captain Gallas, and that about summed up my feelings for the day. Gallas shouldn't be playing at all and Eboue shouldn't have to play central midfield. Robin van Persie seems to have forgotten how to score and overall the whole thing was bloody awful.
