The United States Women's National Soccer Team was honored as Sportswomen of the Year by
the March of Dimes New York Division at its 28th Annual Sports Luncheon on November 30, at the
Waldorf-Astoria in New York.

the Waldorf Astoria in New York. World Cup stars Abby Wambach and Hope Solo will represent the U.S.
team.
Mark Teixeira, the All-Star first baseman with the New York Yankees will be presented with the
Sportsman of the Year Award.
The U-20 Seleção won the World Cup yesterday beating Portugal 3-2 during the overtime with a
stellar performance by Oscar. The players of U-20 teams don't always carry through with the
promises that they show at this stage but who knows if some of these will be future World Cup
stars.
The Strikers proved their victory last week versus Edmonton was no fluke by taking out league
leader Carolina Railhawks 2-1 with 10 men and a lot of heart! Over 3,000 fans showed up to a game
threatened by rain and were delighted to see a hard fought Strikers dominated game. As an omen of
good fortune the sky turned red and yellow, perhaps a sign of things to come (See picture).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. The Boston Breakers welcomed back all eight of their World Cup competitors last
night and one of them Kelly O'Hara stepped up with a two-goal effort in a 2-2 draw against the
Western New York Flash before a record crowd of 6,222 at Harvard Stadium.
O'Hara scored in the 20th and 84th minutes, while the Flash countered with goals in the 38th and
87th minutes from World Cup stars Marta and Alex Morgan, respectively.

MADRID — Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo broke the La Liga goal-scoring record with his 39th
and 40th league goals of the season as Real Madrid hammered relegated Almeria 8-1 at the Santiago
Bernabeu on Saturday. Ronaldo poked home from close range on four minutes for his record-breaking
goal to overtake the previous best of 38 [.
Well, there are two games left for us in this season - one a pretty much insignificant one for
us and another one which is worth dying for. The insignificant one takes place to morrow at Malaga
with both teams having nothing to play for. Guardiola has taken this oppurtunity to rest a majority
of his players ahead of the Champions League final clash at Wembley.
