As the football world turn their focus on which nation will qualify for World Cup 2010, Sweden,
Argentina, France and Portugal stand as the countries who might not make it to South Africa. If
these countries fail to qualify, then some of the world's best players will not be gracing the
biggest stage in football.
As you've probably heard, there's no English or Spanish-language coverage on US cable television
for the USA-Honduras qualifier. Luckily (I guess), there's a company that's offering the game to
pubs. Ah, just like the good old days.
For a really slow and annoying site with all of the pubs showing the match, visit CopaTV.
The draw is over. The results are in. And the US has a real shot at making out of the group
stage. Here are the groups:
Group A
South Africa
Mexico
Uruguay
France
Group B
Argentina
Nigeria
Korea Republic
Greece
Group C
England
USA
Algeria
Slovenia
Group D
Germany
Australia
Serbia
Ghana
Group E
Netherlands
Denmark
Japan
Cameroon
Group F
Italy
Paraguay
New Zealand
Slovakia
Group G
Brazil
Korea DPR
Ivory Coast
Portugal
Group H
Spain
Switzerland
Honduras
Chile
Let me rephrase what I said above: we have no excuse not to make it out of our group.
From USsoccer.com The United States Men's National Team will face fellow 2010 FIFA World Cup
qualifiers Denmark on Wednesday, Nov. 18, in Aarhus, Denmark. Kickoff at NRGi Park is set for 8:30
p.m. local time (2:30 p.m. ET), and television details will be announced in the near future.
Here's the story. I'd write more, but I have to go test my mute button.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is it. Tomorrow is the official draw for the 2010 World Cup and I can
tell you now that I'm incredibly excited, as I'm sure you are, at the prospect of finding out which
countries will be in what groups. I can't wait!
This is a perfect opportunity for me to share EPL Talk's "blueprints" about the World Cup
coverage you can expect over the next 24 hours and the next 7 months as we build up to what is the
biggest soccer tournament in the world.
Now that our rant about the draw is out of the way, it's time to get pumped! The Cup is near
and the draw is here! There isn't much going on this morning before the draw, so et's take some
time to look at the pots and discuss what we would/would not like to see this afternoon.
POT 1
Our opponent out of Pot 1 is going to be difficult no matter who we draw.
I scrambled to get that post about the draw out earlier, so I thought I'd come back after
sitting on it for a while and offer a few more post-draw thoughts.
-I don't think the US could have asked for a much better draw than the one they got. And yes,
I am including the possibility of drawing South Africa.
