While the jury is out on whether or not Charlie Davies will make the World Cup roster, Oguchi
Onyewu is almost certainly a lock.
Back in October, Onyewu suffered a serious knee injury that looked like it might keep the
hulking central defender out of the World Cup. News this week from Carson, Calif.

Quick note:Â We received word from reader Patrick that the new US shirts the ones we discussed
here were recently put up for sale on eBay. The reaction has been surprisingly negative, if our
comments section is any indication. But love 'em or hate 'em, it's looking more and more like
they're the real deal, although we're still waiting for the official press release and fashion
show.

From Suffolk comes the World Cup news England fans have been dreading. A psychic says the Three
Lions won't win the tournament in South Africa this summer. She also has lots to say on a range of
topics but in an unsurprisingly general way. Let's have a closer look.
According to Ipswich's Evening Star, medium Miss Knock has been a psychic for 30 years.

From FulhamFC.com
"During the Blackburn Rovers fixture on Sunday 17 January, Clint Dempsey sustained moderate
damage to a ligament in his right knee. Following the results of a scan, early indications are
positive in that no operation is required. At this stage it is thought that the injury will not
prevent him from featuring for Fulham, prior to the end of the season.

The USMNT has just taken its fourth major hit in recent months. In today's fixture between
Fulham and Blackburn, Clint Dempsey had to come off the field in the 62nd minute with a suspected
knee ligament injury. The prognosis is not good. Fulham manager Roy Hodgson had this to say:
"Clint will be scanned on Monday but we feel it might be a posterior cruciate knee ligament which
would be very bad for us and he would be out for a while.

While scouring that new fangled interweb thing for interesting 2010 World Cup news, I came across
this piece on GhanaWeb.com.In it, the author suggests that the fact that many of Ghana's key
players - Michael Essien and John Mensah among them - are injured for the African Cup Of Nations
is, in fact, a very good thing for Ghana.

Welcome back to World Cup Bafana Bafana 2010, the site for news and views on the road to Soccer
City.
It's 2010 World Cup year, so in keeping with Fabio Capello's low key approach the UK press has this
morning decided to say absolutely nothing new about the tournament, squads etc. It won't last.

I scrambled to get that post about the draw out earlier, so I thought I'd come back after
sitting on it for a while and offer a few more post-draw thoughts.
-I don't think the US could have asked for a much better draw than the one they got. And yes,
I am including the possibility of drawing South Africa.

Now that our rant about the draw is out of the way, it's time to get pumped! The Cup is near
and the draw is here! There isn't much going on this morning before the draw, so et's take some
time to look at the pots and discuss what we would/would not like to see this afternoon.
POT 1
Our opponent out of Pot 1 is going to be difficult no matter who we draw.

As the football world turn their focus on which nation will qualify for World Cup 2010, Sweden,
Argentina, France and Portugal stand as the countries who might not make it to South Africa. If
these countries fail to qualify, then some of the world's best players will not be gracing the
biggest stage in football.

As you've probably heard, there's no English or Spanish-language coverage on US cable television
for the USA-Honduras qualifier. Luckily (I guess), there's a company that's offering the game to
pubs. Ah, just like the good old days.
For a really slow and annoying site with all of the pubs showing the match, visit CopaTV.
