I hate the cold. Have I ever mentioned that? I think I might have. It's cold this morning. The
worst part though is that it's not even really that cold and when it starts to get colder and
colder I'm going to like it even less. I've been campaigning for a Blogs Family move to
Equatorsville where it's warm all the time but as Mrs Blogs rightly points out they have their own
problems there, what with monsters, political upheaval and monsters.

Today was a great result for us, it was, but...nah, I'm only messing. There is no but, I don't even
care that we conceded late on. I knew we would, who didn't? We can concede as many as we like for
all I care as long as we end up winning by three clear goals.
Wolves can bemoan their luck all they want, but if they hadn't have helped the ball on for the
first two and if the ref hadn't blocked them off for the third we'd just have found a different way
to score as we did sublimely with the fourth.

This season in a nutshell, except it's the first draw in 17 games. Ecstasy and optimism followed by
a kick in the teeth. A brilliant Babel opener off the bench, but a sloppy Lopez equalizer in the
90th after Liverpool couldn't completely clear late pressure, ending with a Bastos flick-on to
Lisandro, who out-muscled Kyrgiakos to beat Reina.

Two more goals from Didier Drogba – who now has 12 goals from 13 appearances this season –
were only slightly tarnished by Aguero's injury time equaliser last night. Chelsea are safely
through to the knockout stages of the Champions League, and a rusty performance at the Vicente
Calderon will be forgotten should Chelsea up the ante against United at the weekend.

Right then, football tonight against Alkmaar and I really hope they're just plain old AZ tonight
and not the typical Ronald Koeman AZzzzzzzzz.
Every time we play a Koeman side it's inevitably a truly dire spectacle. A tedious, coma
inducing draw of some kind and I could really do without that tonight.

With apologies to the LA SuperClasico series, there is perhaps no MLS playoff series this year
more intriguing and more tough to call than the Houston Dynamo-Seattle Sounders series.
The two-time MLS Cup champion Dynamo take on the expansion Sounders in a young rivalry that
showed plenty of promise during the season.

3:45pm. As with the last round, it looks like it's only available on ESPN360.com, even though
United at Barnsley is on Setanta today. So, most of us will be stuck with streams. Check the usual
places; my first stop will be MyP2P.eu.
Last 4 head-to-head:4-4 (h) 04.21.09

You guys recently submitted your questions to us picking our brains about everything US Soccer
(and some other stuff, as well). Thank you for participating. Some of the questions are
obviously pretty old, but we don't get that many and we wanted to answer all of them. Now here are
our answers:
HEJDUK FAN Hi guys.

Michael Owen has been a polemic figure throughout his career. At 29 years of age many critics
claim that he is already past his prime; that his workrate has slowed, his injuries have multiplied
and his goal scoring has come to a shuddering halt. Others believe that his best is yet to come;
that he has plenty of energy left, that his injuries mostly come down to bad luck and that he is
still, statistically speaking, one of the most lethal English strikers around.

THE GOOD
• Sunday's Manchester derby was the greatest Prem game
I've ever seen (please note
italics, folks) – even better than the pair of 4-3 belters served up by Liverpool and Newcastle
United in the mid-1990s, or the 4-4 belter between Chelsea and Spurs in 2008.

Fabio Capello has always been consistent with his selections, and in four of England's last five
matches, it has been Manchester United's Wayne Rooney and Aston Villa's Emile Heskey who have been
England's starting marksman and both can be considered as shoe-ins for England World Cup squad.

The Gold Cup is over. While the final was certainly a disappointment, it's important to
recognize the purpose of this edition of the tournament it was an opportunity to evaluate our
fringe players, hopefully identifying who should (and should not) be considered for the
2010 roster.

It was a dream start for D.C. United on Saturday. With a hectic schedule looming, a Christian
Gomez brace had United out to a 2-0 lead at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Missing
midfielder Clyde Simms through injury and Santino Quaranta still on Gold Cup duty, it was a
promising first 21 minutes of the match.

This match exhibited nothing but a lowly underperforming team working harder than a much more
talented team. DC came out to a quick 2-0 lead, and apparently they thought they didn't need to do
anything else for the next 70 minutes. That wasn't true.
There was also some definite bad luck for San Jose.

Only one place to start today, and that is the final confirmation that Adebayor is now a Man
City player. No news yet on the official site, which is clearly lagging a little behind, but the
deal has been done, Wenger sending him on his way with his usual good wishes.
The player himself is making the right noises, stating his ambition for City to become a top
four club while thanking Arsenal, in an interview certainly more PR-laden than his ill-fated stint
on Football Focus at the end of last season:
"I am very happy, very pleased to be here.

Slow old summer, isn't it? Other than the Confederations Cup, the U21 finals, Wimbledon, the
Lions tour and the Ashes, there's been almost no sport on the telly at all.
We're now just six days short of the pre-season curtain-raiser at Barnet though. That came round
fast.
What kind of a state are Arsenal in?

Man, I just finished my Zhirkov. Pure bliss.
Anyway, the man with one brilliant last name has finally, officially, joined Chelsea. Yuri
Zhirkov, aka the Russian Ronaldinho, comes to Stamford Bridge from CSKA Moscow for a fairly hefty
£18 million. Zhirkov inked a three-year contract, supposedly with an option for two more
years.

Whilst I've been fairly apathetic to the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, I
would be absolutely gutted if Wayne Rooney ever decided to leave. His ability, his workrate and his
attitude to the game and our club make him stand out above the rest.
He has today claimed that if Sir Alex Ferguson plays him in his proper position, where he's been
playing for England and scoring plenty, he will be able to compensate for the goals we'll miss
without Ronaldo and Tevez.

Remarkably, it's less than a month until our first pre-season match, against Barnet on 18th
July.
It's gone fast partly because we've had the U21s, partly because of the Confounded Cup but
principally due to the fact that Wenger has made a statement of intent with an early summer
signing.

Rafa Benitez wasted no time in acknowledging the importance of his Argentine midfielder Javier
Mascherano at the weekend after a superb performance against arch-rivals Manchester United.
However, he was not alone in praise as the New Football Pools Pundits and Liverpool legends John
Barnes and Alan Hansen joined in with the plaudits.

I was questioning yesterday whether Juande Ramos was happy with the performance of the Spurs
hierarchy in the transfer market. Well it seems like he is judging by his interview with
tottenhamhotspur.com
"I have little doubt that we have a squad of greater overall quality now than when I began at
this club a year ago," Ramos said.
