Each of these word clouds represents the terms used within BBC match reports for each individual
side during the 2011/2012 season. All twenty of the sides that competed in the Premier League
during last season are represented. These word clouds give an indication as to what players were
mentioned most during the season.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish features heavily as does Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez who was
"embroiled" in a race row for much of the season.

They left it late (as I did this season review), but Manchester City won the Premier League
title usurping their city rivals with their last-gasp-exploits over QPR on the final day.

West Bromwich Albion are another club who will be scouring the land for a new manager after the
incumbent Roy Hodgson left to take the England national team job. Players such as Peter Odemwingie
and Ben Foster feature heavily in the word cloud.

from the 2011/2012 season.
Tottenham Hotspur joined the long list of clubs that will be looking for a new manager before
the start of next season. After a successful period at the club Harry Redknapp was sacked as
manager of Spurs. His car window interviews will be missed by the press who loved his "no-nonsense"
style. His popularity with the press is evident from the BBC Match Reports.
Norwich City had a terrific season under Paul Lambert. Grant Holt became a household name and an
outsider for international glory as a possible member of Roy Hodgson's England squad.Â
Unfortunately for the Canaries Lambert left the club at the end of the season to take over at
Villa Park whilst Grant Holt handed in a transfer request.

City's word cloud for the 2011/2012 season.
Pundits appear to agree that Wigan Athletic had a good season. Indeed, they had such a good
season that Latics chief Roberto Martinez has become a pundit himself, sitting on sofas alongside
Patrik Vieira and Roy Keane on ITV's Euro 2012 coverage.

QPR had an odd season. Despite winning the Championship in 2010/2011 they struggled in a
division that the other promoted sides, Norwich City and Swansea City thrived in.
The below word cloud was generated using all of Fulham's match reports from the BBC website from
the 2011/2012 season. The more frequently a word is used, the larger it appears on screen.
I'm a big fan of Clint Dempsey. In fact, I'm a big fan of American soccer players. They always
seem to be really nice guys. Demspey, McBride, Howard, Lalas, Cobi Jones... the list goes on.
Fulham's word cloud features Clint Dempsey heavily, in fact he was the most written about player
in BBC match reports during the 2011/2012 season.

Unsurprisingly Davies features heavily (Bolton have two players called Davies), whilst
goalkeepers Bogdan and Jaaskelainen are prominent after being well worked during the seaosn.
It's been a tough year for Blackburn Rovers. Steve Kean has led the side to a relegation back to
the second flight and the halcyon days of Stuart Ripley, Jason Wilcox and Nick Marker must feel as
far away as they've ever been.

I get the impression that many people who read blogs have very short attention spans. Therefore
rather than writing a long piece on Arsenal's 2011/2012 season I have instead generated a word
cloud that describes the season gone by. The word cloud has been generated from all of Arsenal's
match reports from the 2011/2012 season that were published on the BBC website.
If you've ever wondered what would happen if you took every BBC match report from the 2011/2012
for every Premier League side and put it into a word-cloud, then wonder no longer.

Definition of "word cloud" from wikipedia:A tag cloud (word cloud, orÂ
weighted list in visual design) is a visual representation for text data, typically used to
depict keyword metadata (tags) on websites, or to visualize free form text.
21 year old Hal Robson-Kanu was an unused substitute for Reading in their opening league fixture
at home to Scunthorpe United. With talented wingers such as Jimmy Kebe and Jobi McAnuff ahead of
him in the pecking order his appearances for Reading have been sporadic, resulting in two loan
spells to Southend United and Swindon Town.
