The Brazilian midfielder Diego is out of contract at the Bundesliga side Wolfsburg next summer, and he seems to believe that Arsenal are one of the Premiership sides that are willing to take him to England, and he wouldn't turn us down (surprise, surprise!) He was quoted in the Sun as saying: "I know there [.
OK, after the first weekend of the EPL season and, despite league positions being farcical in the first few games, Arsenal are in the bottom three!!! Is anyone genuinely surprised by what happened on Saturday? Did anyone really think we'd start off the season the way we ended last year, given the uncertainty that has prevailed over the summer?
I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news Arsenal fans, if you haven't already heard, but it seems our summer of torment has taken another turn in the wrong direction. We were all happy that the club was finally moving on a player who can add something to the team that we need.
There was more bad news in the media for Arsenal fans this morning after every news site seemed to be reporting that our transfer target Luiz Gustavo from Bayern Munich was set to snub the Gunners and accept a transfer to another Bundesliga club Wolfsburg. However, as weknow from painful experience, until a transfer is officially announced, it is not a done deal.
We have all heard that Arsenal are still `working hard` to bring in some top talent during the summer transfer window, but I would politely suggest that they are not working hard enough and need to `get their finger out` or we will end up seeing every good player snapped up by other clubs.
I really thought that Arsenal would move for Marouane Fellaini from Everton before his release clause expired, but the beginning of the month came and went without any noise from the Emirates.
There is now less than a month to go before Arsenal take on Aston Villa in the first game of the new Premier League season, and the Gunners have still not spent a penny of the now infamous £70 million transfer war chest. To be fair to Arsene Wenger, though, it seems like all of the players he has made moves to sign are ridiculously hard to get hold of, for one reason or another.
There has been all sorts of things said about the Arsenal defence this season, and all three of the central defenders have come in for their share of criticism. Strangely enough, they have all recently been linked with moves away from the Emirates this summer, but have all denied that they are looking for another club and declared their desire to stay at Arsenal.
Per Mertesacker probably gets an unfair share of the criticism directed at Arsenal for the poor defending. His size and general demeanour make him look slow and ponderous, but his statistics are right up there with the best centre backs in the Premier League. The 28-year old is the subject of jokey comments by pundits and a lot of Arsenal fans have been calling for him to be sold in the summer, and it seems that Arsene Wenger would have no problem finding a buyer.

Here in the United States, NBC's Premier League debut was amazing even to the point of engaging non-soccer fans and non-Premier League supporters. The studio shows hosted by Rebecca Lowe were informative and engaging. The only complaint I have was with the large number of commercials in the 7am-7:45am ETPremier League Livetimeslot leading into the Liverpool-Stoke City match.
Referee Wolfgang Stark has apologized for adevastatinghandball decision that led to Borussia Dortmund's 2-3 home loss to Wolfsburg. The unusual act of contrition from an official came after Stark's call resulted in a red card and automatic ban for Dortmund defender Marcel Schmelzer and a penalty for Wolfsburg that completely changed the match in the 35th minute.
Completing the German domination of the Champions Leagues this season, Wolfsburg beat Lyon 1-0 in the women's final at Stamford Bridge. This was a shocking result for two reasons: 1) Lyon had won the last two Champions League finals and over their last 120 matches, they had not lost in regular time.
Belgian midfielder Timmy Simons scored this stunning goal in the 61st minute when he met a poor clearance out of defence on the run and, without breaking stride, scored with a dipping, outswinging volley from 25 metres as Nuremburg came from two down to draw 2-2 with Wolfsburg in this mid table clash.
With German football currently taking a winter break, Eintracht Frankfurt can look back on 2012 with a satisfaction that few other clubs can match. Since their promotion to the Bundesliga last May they have accumulated an impressive thirty points and currently sit fourth in the table, behind only Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund take on Wolfsburg December 8th at Signal Iduna Park where Dortmund will look to get even closer to Bayern Munich at the top of the table. While on the opposite side of the spectrum Wolfsburg need every point possible to avoid relegation.
While not quite as outrageous as Adil Rami's 50-yard exocet in the Copa Del Rey last night, Borussia Mönchengladbach's Venezuelan midfielder Juan Arango for whom wonder goals are becoming a bit of a trademark this season came fairly close in the audacity stakes with an absolute monster of a volley against Wolfsburg.
Former Bayern Munich striker Ivica Olic scores this spectacular bi-cycle kick as his team Wolfsburg came from behind to beat Freiberg in today's Bundesliga tie. His team-mate Vieirinha's goal wasn't half bad either by the way see below.
Last night was a night for some stunning goals following ,a href="http://www.attackingsoccer.com/2012/11/adil-rami-50-yard-opener-v-llagostera/">Adil Rami's 50 yarder in the Copa del Rey came this awesome volley from Borussia Moenchengladbach's Juan Arango as they beat Wolfsburg 2-0 in the Bundesliga last night.
Bayern Munich hosted Wolfsburg this afternoon in the Bundesliga at the Allianz Arena in a match that only needed one goal to decide the winner. Thomas Muller's lone striker was enough to ensure all three points went Bayern's way, but the match was special in that it marked the return of Wolfsburg star Luiz Gustavo to his former club.
Bologna playmaker Alessandro Diamanti is the most fouled player in Europe so far this season. While you might assume that Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi would be on the receiving end of most rough treatment, it is actually the former West Ham player who's taken a bit of a battering this season. According to figures [.
Tottenham's under 19's looked truly impressive in the first half of their NextGen series match against Wolfsburg yesterday. Unfortunately, the lads couldn't hang on to their lead and the Germans forced an injury time equaliser to level the game at 2-2.
Spurs had gone into a two goal lead at the break thanks to a double strike from Alex Pritchard.
