Where There is Smoke There are a Few Bad Apples

Nedved's Notes 04 October @ 03:44 PM EST
Yesterday's against Newport County was one of the away matches I wanted to see most this season. County are not only bitter rivals (well, as bitter as we get in non-league football) but I guessed Newport would be near enough that Mrs Nedved would not begrudge a day pass. Besides, as she comes from a large Welsh family anything that involves going to Wales is generally viewed in a positive light. Click to continue reading...

Non-league football, the heart of the game, where only true fans live and breathe. I used to be one of them, but remember thinking as I stood frozen on the crumbling terraces of another middle-of-nowhere 'stadium', slurping thermonuclear hot chocolate the taste of sewer water, that it helps if you support a winning team in these circumstances. FC Boro 03 August @ 02:34 PM EST

A 0-0 draw away at Woking on Saturday afternoon signalled the end of Boro's pre-season campaign for 2009. Graham Westley's side played 7 games, winning 3, drawing 2 and losing 2. This year's campaign has been a lot different to previous pre-season's at Broadhall Way with the team being much more settled and no trialists featuring at all.

Boro end pre-season on a high

FC Boro 02 August @ 04:38 PM EST

Stevenage completed their pre-season schedule on a high and go into next week's opener against newly promoted Tamworth brimming with confidence. The double header against Southend and Woking yielded a win and a draw from the two games, but not against the teams that you and I would of expected.

Vincenti signs for Woking

FC Boro 30 July @ 02:55 PM EST

Peter Vincenti has left the club to join Woking. The Cards have confirmed that the Jersey born midfielder/striker will join the Blue Square South club on a three month loan deal. It makes sense for all parties involved really. Although Westley gave Vincenti a new contract at the beginning of the summer, the former Millwall player doesn't look likely to be in the first team plans at Broadhall Way.

Boro 1-2 Morison

FC Boro 26 July @ 03:36 PM EST

It was always going to happen wasn't it?

Steve Morison returned to Broadhall Way for the first time since his summer move to League 1 Millwall and fired both goals as the South London side beat Boro to condemn Graham Westley's side to their first defeat this pre-season. Morison started the game for his new employers and was given a warm reception by the Boro fans as he wore the number 9 shirt for the Lions.

Boro held at Cambridge while Vincenti plays for Woking?

FC Boro 22 July @ 01:16 PM EST

Cambridge City denied Boro their 3rd straight pre-season victory with a 1-1 draw at Milton Road. After an impressive win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, Stevenage were held to a battling draw by the Southern League side. Boro boss Graham Westley opted to start with a weakened 11, with the likes of Ashley Bayes, Eddie Odhiambo and Mark Albrighton playing the full 90 minutes, while reserve players Jerome Anderson and Chris Doyle made appearances too.

Chelmsford Preview

FC Boro 13 July @ 02:51 PM EST

Stevenage travel to Essex on Wednesday night to face Chelmsford City in their first pre-season game of the new campaign, a year after beating Mark Stimson's Gillingham at Priestfield. It will be a good test for the players to face a team who weren't far away from winning promotion to the Blue Square Premier last time around and of course it's the first chance for the Boro fans making the trip to see the new summer signings in action in a Boro shirt.

Kings Lynn, Braintree Town, Demotion & Chaos Theory

Twohundredpercent 22 April @ 04:52 PM EST

The town of Braintree sits near the border between Suffolk and Essex. It's a small town with a population of 42,000 which sits rather in the shadow of its larger neighbours Colchester and Chelmsford, with London looming in the distance, radiating its influence over the whole of the east and south east of England.

Boylan goal secures vital victory

FC Boro 25 February @ 04:10 PM EST
Lee Boylan's strike on the hour may just be one of the most important goals scored at Broadhall Way this season. The one goal was enough to see off a Woking side, who lacked any sort of attacking threat, but gave a honest performance which may help them in their fight against relegation in the [...] Click to continue reading...

Woking next up as FGR are brushed aside

FC Boro 23 February @ 07:40 PM EST
It's becoming like a weekly occurance, but whoever Boro play at the moment seem to be turned over with relative ease and it was no different on Saturday when Forest Green were comfortably dispatched 4-0. The win sees Boro move into the semi-finals of the FA Trophy and a draw against the winners of Wrexham [. Click to continue reading...

FC Boro 02 November @ 08:56 AM EST
At a soaked Kingfield, Boro beat rivals Woking thanks to a fantastic goal from Peter Vincenti. The win keeps Boro in 9th position in the Blue Square Premier, but amazingly we are now only 5 points off the top of the table. Leaders Kettering lost 1-0 at home to Weymouth yesterday, which allowed Torquay to move [. Click to continue reading...

It's A Disgrace

For Girls Who Can't Do Football 10 July @ 12:04 PM EST
I texted Luton Andy today.
Remember him?
He is a friend of my lover and a Woking fan. He is also a major Hatter's fan (hence the name).
My text said:
