The United Soccer Leagues released a statement this morning in conjunction with a press conference in Tampa this morning, stating that VisionPro Sports Institute (VSI) has chosen to establish an international youth soccer academy in Tampa, Florida. With that institute VSI will move forward in 2012 by operating a PDL, W-League and Super-20 team.

Last summer, former U of M defender Kelsey Hood was in Europe playing in Norway's women's Toppserien or premier division for FK Donn. This season she's playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps USL W-League team. While Vancouver may be closer to her home than Norway it's still a long ways from Ankeny, Iowa where she grew up.

Soccer fans on Friday night got an entertaining match and a win for the home team as the Colorado Rush dispatched the Seattle Sounders 1-0 in W-League action.

Lindsey Horan delivered the lone goal of the evening in the 56th minute at Trail Winds Park in Thornton, Colo. Horan threatened several times during the night before her shot from inside the box found the upper left corner, giving her four goals in four games this season.

Virginia Beach, Virginia –The newly formed W-League Piranhas 2011 squad took on conference powerhouse Charlotte Lady Eagles Saturday night in the season opener of the new campaign. The Piranhas fell short with a final score of 2-0.
