Real Madrid's latest win (4-2 over Levante) gave Jose Mourinho's squad a 10 point lead (and a
comfortable margin of error) over Barcelona in the race for the La Liga title. It would fair to say
that Los Blancos are nearing on the league title after years of dominance by their bitter rivals
from Catalonia.
Manchester United to end 2011 top of the table - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
The New Year weekend will most likely see Manchester United end 2011 at the top of the table
(albeit having played a game more than City), although City will be away to Sunderland on Sunday
and it should be business as usual at the top of the table for them come Monday morning.
Another Premier League game, another 1-0 win. For the 7th consecutive Premier League game, United
scored only one goal against their opposition. But following our horrendous defensive performances
at the start of the season, who would have thought that the single goal would be enough to win 4 of
those games?
I had the honor of working with Robbie Church for four years at Duke University, and not only is he
one of the top coaches in the women's game, but is also one of the true gentlemen in the sport.
Although his Duke Blue Devils fell short in the national title game to Paul Ratcliffe and Stanford,
it was clear that Church has firmly placed his Duke side among the nation's elite.
1. Mario Balotelli responded to his latest bout of controversy with a typical shrug of the
shoulders, but he put it to great effect on this occasion. 2. Feed the Yak some Venky's chicken and
he will score. 3. The 'Kean Out' protests are always likely to sound a tad more hollow after a 4-2

Well well, who expected the Houston Dynamo to make it to MLS Cup 2011?
Without Brad Davis?
If you answered yes to the first question, you are probably a Dynamo fan. If you answered yes
to the second question, I call BS.
Plenty expected the Galaxy to be here.
So who is going to win it?
Kansas City 2 - Colorado 0 (KC 4 - Col 0) There will be a new MLS Cup champion, with Colorado's
title defense ending on Wednesday night at LIVESTRONG Park. With Sporting already up two goals from
the opening leg of the series, they added two more to win 4-0 in aggregate. Aurelien Collin opened
the scoring in the 28th minute and CJ Sapong made it 2-0 on the night in the 76th.

After the fluke round with five 0-0 draws, this weekend action was packed with several brilliant
games and high scoring. AC Milan came back from three goals down to win 4-3 at Lecce. Juventus drew
2-2 at home against Genoa in a brilliant game and Udinese end top at the weekend after a brilliant
home win over Novara Saturday October 23rd There were two games on Saturday evening, the first of
which.
Brazil left it late to secure a 2-1 win over Mexico in an international friendly played at the
Estadio Corona stadium in Torreón last night. Goals from play maker Ronaldinho and Marcelo were
enough to give coach Mano Menezes the much needed win.
The night however, belonged to Flamengo striker Ronaldinho who scored a superb free kick that
left Oswaldo Sanchez for dead then setting up team mate Marcelo 4 minutes later to effectively seal
the Mexican's hopes.
Arsenal take on Bolton at the Emirates, and despite a 3-1 win by a second XI over Shrewsbury in
the Carling Cup on Tuesday, the Wenger Boys still have plenty of points to prove.
Arsenal are short priced favourites with all bookmakers for their game against Bolton, but once
again Unibet offer you the very biggest odds on the planet!

To say Charlie Adams wanted to get tossed out of this game was an understatement. Two yellows in
the first 30 minutes saw 'pool go down a man and then another sending off for Liverpool in Skrtel
saw Spurs crank up the screws. Modric scored early and then it was all cruise control as Spurs go
on to win 4-0 with a brace from Adebayor.

The whirligig that is international week has left me struggling for time as we approach the mundane
predictability of the SPL.
So this week's SPL preview has been drawn entirely at random.
Not by me.
I've shipped in a glamorous assistant, a glamorous assistant who is the number one draw every
Wednesday night at a "gentleman's club" cabaret in Newcastle.

What we have here is grizzly footage from before Sivasspor's recent friendly with FK Rad
Belgrade, in which the Turks kick off preceedings by getting a tarpaulin down on the touch line and
slitting a live lambs throat (to a ripple of warm applause) before smearing the claret all over
their boots.

Clint Dempsey may not have been on the U.S. men's national team's roster for its friendly
against Mexico, but his season with Fulham officially begun on Thursday.
Playing in the third round of the UEFA Europa League, Dempsey helped Fulham advance as the
Cottagers knocked off Croatian club RNK Split 2-0.
The soccer continued around the league while the Seattle Sounders had a much deserved weekend
off. It was generally an exciting, and high scoring weekend around the league. Thierry Henry picked
up his 11th goal of the season and now leads the golden boot race. Alvaro Saborio's dive against
the San Jose Earthquakes opened up a game that Real Salt Lake would win 4-0.
An offensive explosion the likes of which the Colorado Rapids haven't produced in three months
proved to be not quite enough on the road against the Seattle Sounders.
Wells Thompson and Jeff Larentowicz scored in the first half to put the Rapids up 2-1 at the
break. Seattle came back with three second-half goals and held on after a late Caleb Folan strike
to win 4-3 on Saturday.

Tomorrow night at LiveSTRONG Sporting Park KC will continue another quest for silverware, in the US
Open Cup proper. The Cup is entering it's third round this Tuesday, and all 8 MLS teams that
qualified for the tournament are entering at this stage. Kansas City's opponents, the Chicago Fire
PDL came into the tournament in round 1.
1. Given the success most of the team had against Guadeloupe on Tuesday particularly the back
line and center mids Bob Bradley will only make one change to this afternoon's
lineup. Chris Wondolowski will be benched, Clint
Dempsey will pair with Jozy, and Alejandro Bedoya's
recent substitute performances will be rewarded with a start on the left wing.

Although his team didn't come out ahead, D.C. United forward Blake Brettschneider still turned
in another impressive performance to capture SBI MLS Rookie of the Week honors.
Brettschneider scored his first league goal, taking a pass at the top of the area, turning and
firing with his left foot to beat San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch and level the score at
2-2 in the first half on Saturday.

1) The USA's loss to Panama is only their 6th in 51 Gold Cup games, and first in the group stage
(as you might've heard by now). Previously, they had only lost to Brazil and Mexico. Both the
Americans and the Mexicans now have six defeats each, though the USA have played three more
games.
2) Ominously for the US, no team has ever won the Gold Cup with a loss.

The Good
- It's over. Speaking personally as an Arsenal fan, that means the loosening of a feisty
nutcracker on my testicles, but I believe it's much the same for most teams. Team and fan burnout
is bound to happen eventually, and it's time for the body Duracells to undergo their yearly
recharge.
With a 1-1 draw against Levante, Barcelona clinched their third consecutive La Liga title with
two games remaining and confirmed themselves as the best team in Spain, and possibly Europe. The
Catalan side have looked imperious under Pep Guardiola's tutelage, and will want to continue their
dominance over Spanish football in the 2011/12 season and Europe, where they play their third
Champions League final in six years (their second in three years against Manchester United).

Nixa vs Pershing, Middle School Girls
The Nixa Middle School varsity squad held on for a 3-2 victory last Tuesday night at the Greenwood
Stadium Field. A 3 goal lead almost didn't stand up as the Pershing Generals fought back with a
pair of late goals to narrow the gap. It was the first goals the Eagles had given up this season.
So, this is it. This is the day we've been waiting for. At the start of the season when the
fixtures are released, these are the days you pick out. To play Chelsea three games before the end
of the season, you're hoping that you're within a chance of winning it then, whilst also preferring
you won't be relying on three points in that game to stand a chance.
The Jays have traveled across the State to take on a pair of St Louis powers. First stop,
Incarnate Word, just South of I-70 near UMSL and today St Joe's, near Frontenac. I'll have pictures

Coach Annie Beekman was channeling her inner Mourinho in Friday's game, coming out in what I would
describe as a 4-1-4-1, in the hopes of blunting not only Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year Shea
Groom (pictured) up top but also the Jay's quality midfield.
Manchester United will meet FC Barcelona in the final of the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League on May
28th in London following their win 4-1 (6-1 on aggregate) over Schalke 04 at Old Trafford on
Wednesday. With several regulars rested, United dominated the match and got goals from Antonio
Valencia's, Darron Gibson and Anderson (2).
The Sun in the early hours this morning is reporting that Roman Abramovich wants more "thrilling
and sexy football" and intends to bankroll another £80m this summer to bring in players to three
areas that have been identified that need bolstering. The three positions are:
- A creative midfielder
- A flying winger
- A solid right back.

It was a good weekend for the leaders of Europe's top five leagues. Each of the table-topping
clubs either maintained or extended its lead with a victory this weekend, and no club helped itself
more than AC Milan.
The Rossoneri asserted their dominance over derby rivals Inter in less than a minute with the
first of Alexandre Pato's two goals in the match, and even though the visitors had their chances to
pull back into the game, Milan was able to pull off a convincing 3-0 win.
