Having had a great win at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City in the Carling Cup on
Wednesday night, expect to see Kenny re-introduce the likes of Jose Enriqué, Maxi Rodriguez as
well as the combination of returning Captain Steven Gerrard to play alongside Charlie Adam in
midfield in the absence of young Jay Spearing who did his hamstring on Wednesday.

Stoke City ended Tottenham's six-match Premier League winning streak while Martin O'Neill's
Sunderland left it late to heap more misery on Steve Kean and Blackburn Rovers.
Simon Vukčević's early goal seemed destined to give Blackburn their second consecutive victory
and lift them out of the bottom three.
A plethora of former Tottenham players suited up in a Stoke City uniform and fully played their
part in ending the Spurs' 11-game unbeaten run with an impressive 2-1 win at the Brittania
Stadium.
Matthew Etherington, who was a Spurs player between 2000 and 2003, scored twice in the first
half, with his opening strike being assisted by Peter Crouch, who just left White Hart Lane this
summer.

now send him an apology. Taking his squad to a European Championship finals is a massive
achievement.

Ireland confirmed their place at next summer's European Championships with a 1-1 draw against
Estonia in the second leg of their Euro 2012 play-off.
Already four up from the first leg, Ireland looked to be coasting when Stephen Ward fired home the
opener after keeper Pavel Londak failed to hold Kevin Doyle's header.
Irish central midfielder Glenn Whelan is confident that ' The Boys In Green ' will qualify
for Euro 2012 and that the team will use the play-off defeat to France two year's ago as motivation
for the two-legged encounter with Estonia.
Ireland travel to Tallinn for Friday's play-off first leg clash against Estonia, before next
Tuesday's return fixture at Lansdowne Road, with a place at the European Championships in Poland
and Ukraine up for grabs.

England legend Paul Gascoigne has revealed that Kenny Dalglish tried to sign him for Liverpool
during the 1988 season.
Gascoigne, who went on to sign for Spurs instead, remembered:
"Kenny was the first one to come in for me. He said ‘I want to sign you'...Ian Rush was playing
at Juventus at the time.

Stoke City 2-0 Fulham Premier League 15 October 2011
After an utterly dismal first half, this game came to life (ish) in the second-half, with the
home side eventually securing a deserved 2-0 win.
The Cottagers are usually rubbish on the road, so cranky Dutch boss Martin Jol won't be too
disappointed with the result.

Ireland secured a Euro 2012 play-off spot after a dramatic 2-1 win over Armenia, but it
came at a price as Kevin Doyle was sent-off in the second half.
The striker is now certain to miss the first leg of the play-offs and will need some generosity
from UEFA to avoid a two-game ban.
Ronnie Whelan scores arguably one of the Rep. of Ireland's greatest goals, at
Euro '88 against the USSR with a suberb volley from just outside the area to beat Dassayev in the
USSR goal in a 1-1 draw in Germany. Note it was a shinner but who cares?
Simon Cox will start in attack alongside Kevin Doyle for Ireland in tomorrow's vital Euro
2012 qualifier with Armenia in the Aviva Stadium. It was widely expected that in-form West Brom
striker Shane Long would partner doyle, in the event of Robbie Keane failing his fitness
battle.
Stephen Kelly comes in for the suspended Stephen Ward.
Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has named his team for Friday's Euro 2012 Group 2 qualifier
with Andorra.
John O'Shea replaces Stephen Kelly with Sean St Ledger coming in for the suspended Richard Dunne
from Ireland's last game in Russia.
Trapattoni has resisted the temptation to bring Keith Fahey into the midfield after he hinted at
using the Birmingham midfielder in training earlier this week.
Craig Bellamy has made a great start to the second part of his Liverpool career, and former players
Ronnie Whelan, Gary Gillespie and John Aldridge believe he has a big role to play this season.
Ronnie Whelan has been impressed with Bellamy's commitment to the cause:"Craig Bellamy will give
you 100 percent wherever he goes, whatever team he plays for.

Stoke City 1-1 Manchester United Premier League September 24
Manchester United saw their perfect start to the new Premier League campaign come to an end
after a very difficult encounter with Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.
With Wayne Rooney sidelined with a hamstring injury, Antonio Valencia filling in at right-back
for Jonny Evans, who limped out of the pre-match warm-up, and Michael Owen coming on for the
injured Javier Hernandez after just 11 minutes, it just wasn't going to be United's day.
Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has named a 27 man squad for the Crucial Euro
qualifiers against Andorra and Armenia next month.
Jon Walters and Seamus Coleman both return to the squad and Wigan's James McCarthy is also named in
the Irish midfield
Shay Given Aston Villa
Kieran Westwood Sunderland AFC
David Forde Millwall AFC
John O'Shea Sunderland AFC
Kevin Foley Wolves
Stephen Kelly Fulham
Stephen Ward Wolves
Richard Dunne Aston Villa
Kevin Kilbane Derby

Liverpool legend, Ronnie Whelan has brought out his autobiography: "Walk On: My Life in Red".
Its a very good piece of work, from his humble beginnings in Dublin to having a glittering career
with the Reds from 1979-1994.
During that time he won six League Titles, one European Cup, three League Cups and two FA Cups.
Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trappatoni sprung a surprise after naming Shane
Long upfront for their 2012 Euro qualifier against Slovakia tomorrow night alongside
Robbie Keane who usually was partnered by Kevin Doyle, the only other change is Stephen Ward who
replace's injured Kevin Kilbane who misses out for the first time in 12 years in Competitive action
for the Republic.
Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has rewarded Shane Long for his strong start to the season
at West Brom with a starting place for tomorrow's vital European Championship qualifier against
Slovakia, with Kevin Doyle the player to miss out.
Kevin Kilbane has failed to recover from a back injury and will return to Derby County this
afternoon.
I would have imagined that Ronnie Whelan was watching the Euro 1988 final with his friends or
family and reflecting back on his great year, great Euro, and most important, his great goal that
would be undoubtedly win the memory of the world as 'goal of the tournament'.
Ronnie goal was against Soviet Union in the first round, and after Republic of Ireland defeated
England 1-0, they almost did the same with Soviet Union, but the game ended 1-1 tie.
