"Oi Xavi, stop poncing about, go long... hit the channels, you f*****g girl's

Never one to hide his light under a bushel, West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has eased Hammers fans
fears by reiterating that, despite being linked to the England job (a tiny bit), he is still fully
focused on his job at Upton Park.
Harry Redknapp was found innocent of tax evasion on Wednesday afternoon in London. The court
hearing did not merely determine whether Harry Redknapp was going to find himself imprisoned, or at
the very least fined and reprimanded, for tax evasion but, perhaps just as importantly, whether
Harry Redknapp was still on course for the top job in English football.

The winter transfer window closed this past Tuesday, and a pair of Americans who secured moves
during it will be looking to make their debuts this weekend.
George John and Robbie Rogers could make their first appearances abroad for West Ham United and
Leeds United, respectively, as the Championship gets back into a full weekend swing.

It was, as things turned out, a mercifully quiet transfer deadline day, but the most curious
acquisition of the day ended up involving a young player with just a handful of first team
substitute appearances under his belt but also, it would seem, the capacity for potential
brilliance and and self-destruction in roughly equal measures.

Though he has yet to make his debut for the United States, George John has already impressed at new
club West Ham United. West Ham's official site posted a lengthy article on John's first game with
the reserves. John scored 17 minutes into a 1-1 draw with Gillingham. John is with West Ham on a
two-month loan from FC Dallas with an option to buy.

George John has yet to make his debut with West Ham United, but he soon could after putting
together a strong showing in his first match since joining the club.
John, on loan from FC Dallas until the beginning of March, starred in his first game for West
Ham's developmental squad on Tuesday, putting together a strong defensive outing while scoring a
goal in the Hammers' 1-1 draw with Gillingham.

The German Bundesliga kicks back into full gear this weekend, and with it could come a direct
head-to-head duel between a pair of U.S. men's national team players.
Steve Cherundolo and Fabian Johnson could do battle when Hannover 96 and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim
resume their Bundesliga campaigns on Saturday.

Fort Lewis College men's soccer coach Oige Kennedy announced that English-born player Sameth
Al-Basith has enrolled in classes this semester and has joined the Skyhawks in their defense of the
NCAA Division II national championship.
"Sameth is a player that we are extremely excited to add to our roster for the upcoming spring,"
said Kennedy, who guided the Skyhawks to their third NCAA Division II title since 2005 last
month.

Avram Grant takes over at Serbian champions Partizan
Avram Grant has taken many pundits by surprise by joining Serbian champions Partizan Belgrade as
coach from today.
With fifteen games played so far this season in the Jelen SuperLiga, Partizan have a ten point
lead over arch rivals Crvena Zvezda and already look set to continue their recent dominance by
winning a fifth consecutive title.
Two points separate the top four sides in the Championship going into this weekend's action, with
leaders Southampton in danger of falling out of the automatic promotion spots for the first time
this season.
Nigel Adkins' men wasted no time in acclimatising to life back in the second tier, surprising those
who bet on the Championship to quickly build up a healthy lead over the rest.

George John left the U.S. men's national team camp last week to pursue an opportunity
abroad.
That move has been completed, with John moving to a club in England.
According to various reports out of England, FC Dallas has loaned John to West Ham United.

Wayne Rooney celebrates as Manchester United win at neighbours City
The FA Cup third round saw very few shocks this weekend but did see some interesting results and
a bit of controversy along the way.
In the tie of the round cup holders Manchester City lost in the derby match against record
holders Manchester United by three goals to two.
Guardian: Liverpool 5-1 Oldham Athletic | FA Cup third round match report
Shunning the FA Cup in protest at the eight-match ban handed to Luis Suárez was among the more
ludicrous proposals put to Liverpool by indignant supporters. Mercifully it was given short shrift
by the Anfield club and Kenny Dalglish's team as they ended another turbulent week by overcoming an
obstinate Oldham Athletic to secure their place in the fourth round.
A healthy Josh Gatt and Mexican-American midfielder Isaac Acuña are among the 22 players called
in for the next U.S. Under-23 training camp by coach Caleb Porter.
The camp will take place at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., before the group departs
for Costa Rica to play friendlies against Saprissa reserves on Jan.

Hey, remember that time I was freaking out because I was positive that Fulham F.C. were in a
tailspin and I said manager Martin Jol was on the verge on getting fired if they didn't do well in
their upcoming matches?
It was only two weeks ago.

Clint Dempsey has made quite the statement in 2011, and this weekend will provide him with a
chance to finish it in style.
Having enjoyed a career year, Dempsey's final game of 2011 will pit him and Fulham against
Norwich City in a match that could see the Cottagers inch closer to the top half of the Premiership
table.

While die-hard U.S. men's national team fans probably already have the lowdown on young West Ham
United defender Dan Potts, the reaction to some tweets about the 17-year-old left back suggests
that not everybody is aware of the story behind the latest promising foreign-born prospect eligible
to play for the United States.
Chelsea had championship aspirations heading into the season, but a few stumbles have left the
big-spending Blues trailing the Manchester clubs and now stand closer to falling out of top four
than challenging for the top spot.
If Chelsea is going to stay ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, they will need to beat
London rival Fulham in today's Boxing Day clash.

If the Christmas weekend left you starved for soccer, Monday might just be enough to satisfy
your hunger.
Nearly a dozen games involving Americans Abroad are scheduled to take place on Boxing Day,
including Jonathan Spector's match against his former club, West Ham United.
