English Premier League Match Predictions 12 February 2012 - The 90th Minute Soccer Blog
Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has named a 24-man squad for the upcoming international
friendly against the Czech Republic in Dublin on February 29th.
Speaking after the squad announcement, the Irish boss said, "This game is the beginning of our Euro
2012 preparations.
"As we face this fixture, it is important for our players to remember the attitude and performance
that brought us qualification.
West Brom's Peter Odemwingie was last season's Fantasy Premier League surprise star. 15 goals
scored. 9 assists. 28 bonus points. Super. But the Nigerian has only scored 4 goals this season and
had one of the 'misses of the year' ... Continue reading →

West Bromwich Albion 1-2 Swansea City Premier League 4th February 2012
Swansea registered only their second away league win of the season at the Hawthorns on Saturday,
after a hard fought victory against West Brom.
Manchester City moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League thanks to a convincing
3-0 win at home over Fulham.
Heading into the Fulham match a lot of questions were being asked about a City side that had
lost four of their eight matches in 2012, exiting the FA and League Cups and seeing Manchester
United draw level with them on points at the top of the Premier League.

With six days since the last match, there seems little need for drastic changes from the side which
beat Wolves three-nil.

Given the furore at Leeds yesterday, we thought it would be fairly timely to
put together Pies' pick of the ten English-based football managers that, for one reason or another,
are almost impossible to foster a begrudging respect for let alone take to your heart.
The Football is Fixed prediction of a seriously brand damaging scandal within the British game this
year is coming to fruition nicely - not just with Redknapp/Mandaric, Portsmouth FC and Rangers FC
but with the occurrence of both "a betting accident live on tv" and the inappropriate control over
the selection of match officials as well.
Newcastle United are up to fifth in the Premier League after they beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0,
while Arsenal's poor run of form continues as they were held 0-0 at Bolton.
Newcastle took a 12th-minute lead when Blackburn's Scott Dann deflected a 25-yard shot from Ryan
Taylor past stranded Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

Clint Dempsey did it again.
Dempsey scored another goal for Fulham, tallying the opener in the Cottagers' 1-1 draw with West
Brom on Wednesday. Costa Rican international Bryan Ruiz slipped Dempsey a pass inside the area, and
the American turned and finished with a right-footed strike in the 69th minute to add to his
current run of form.

In three short hours we face a stiff test. No, Bolton aren't that good. But for this is a test
for Wenger and the boys.
We've lost three games in a row in the league for the first time since 2007. We should have
drawn all three, and we could have won any of them. We're in 6th spot in the league, six points
behind Chelsea and have a worse defensive record than West Brom.
After Blackburn got their very own Olsson twins yesterday, we look at the best of twin team-mates
to grace English football. 1. Rafael and Fabio Da Silva Arguably English football's top-achieving
twins to date, in tag team terms. Unlike some sets of footballing twins, the talent seems to be
fairly equal between the pair.
The transfer window for English club's slammed shut last night at 11pm, with Everton grabbing
former midfielder Steven Pienaar from Tottenham on-loan on the final hour.
Harry Redknapp one of the shrewdest managers in the transfer market surprisingly
signed injury prone Everton striker Louis Saha, also in the final hour after
losing Roman Pavlychenko for £8m to Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow .
Arsenal have signed this guy to partner RVP. Alive and kicking?
If you are an Arsenal fan, your level of excitement should be deader than a dodo.
Wayne Bridge goes to Sunderland and Arsenal can heave a sigh of relief. Ravel Morrison, the Man
Utd teenager with a self destructive streak but the skills of a young Paul Scholes, goes to West
Ham.
Goals from Daniel Agger and Dirk Kuyt saw Liverpool get revenge for last season's FA Cup at Old
Trafford as they beat Manchester United 2-1 at Anfield. Elsewhere Chelsea beat QPR and Newcastle
were shocked by Brighton.
While the clash at Anfield got all the headlines this week, the biggest story took place on the
coast as Brighton boss Gus Poyet once again haunted Newcastle in the FA Cup.

Tim Ream was married all of 24 hours and on the brink of going on his honeymoon before he got a
phone call that would alter his plans.
Getting ready to head to Tahiti with his wife, Ream received a call on Jan.
It's funny how the English media mock the quality of Major League Soccer, but guess where
Premier League teams turned to this month to help their sides? Yep, MLS.
First we had the Galaxy's Landon Donovan going back to Everton on loan and then the NYRB's
Thierry Henry returned to Arsenal, where he promptly scored the winner in their FA Cup tie against
Leeds.

Just a quickie to keep you abreast of the fact that Peter Crouch has reportedly escaped a
three-game game ban and, indeed, will be allowed to get away scot free for his sneak-attack 'finger
of doom' eye-poke assault on West Brom centre-back Jonas Olsson's corneas at the Britannia at the
weekend a crime that would almost certainly land you with a six-match ban at the very least in a
game as uncivilised as rugby.
Even Homer could rig a football match more professionally than the British criminal classes.
It is little wonder that your sport, this game of football, is TOTALLY controlled by Asian
underground bookmakers whose expertise on both the sport and the behaviouralisms of another culture
show you up as the psychopathic antisocials that you are.

Newcastle's hopes of taking advantage of Chelsea's draw at Norwich were stopped by a five-goal
second-half blitz from Fulham as they lost 5-2 at Fulham.
Fulham were poor in the first-hald and it was no surprise that Newcastle scored first thanks to
a Danny Guthrie thunderbolt from outside the area.
Last time out George got 6 results right including 1 perfect score. Not bad at all.

Landon Donovan is coming off an outstanding match in Everton's 1-1 draw vs. Aston Villa last
week, and he will look to post an even better performance against struggling Blackburn today.
Donovan will look to jump-start an offense that has has its share of struggles, but an offense
that could have a field day against struggling Rovers.

For the U.S. men's and women's national teams, it's a big weekend.
The women kick off their qualifying campaign for the 2012 Olympics Friday night in Canada, going
up against the Dominican Republic. Just a couple of days later, Pia Sundhage's charges are at it
again, facing Guatemala and hoping to secure maximum points before a final group showdown with
Mexico.
We've seen the rumours linking Jermain Defoe with a move away from Spurs before but while the
stories surrounding a move to Arsenal in the summer seemed unlikely, could today's Liverpool link
be more plausible?
The story seems to have broken in The Daily Mirror and may just have come from adding up a
sequence of possible events: JD has a new agent with supposed ties to Liverpool who in turn might
be looking to offload Andy Carroll while needing to cover the loss of Luis Suarez.

Less than two months ago Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane were combining on a game-winning goal
that helped lead the Los Angeles Galaxy to an MLS Cup title. Today, the two will square off on the
other side of the planet as Donovan's Everton and Keane's Aston Villa do battle.
Manchester United will look to keep the heat on Manchester City by knocking off Bolton, which is
awaiting a work permit for newly-acquired defender Tim Ream.
