Has Chelsea Manager Never Watched Chelsea Before?

Republik Of Mancunia 09 November @ 09:10 AM EST

"The Manchester players protested a lot. I don't know why. I don't like this."

Oh, the irony.

John Terry said he 'loved' Didier Drogba's disgraceful reaction to their result against Barcelona last season. Remember the one? He had to be dragged away from the referee before shouting "it's a fucking disgrace!

Hughton: focus was the key to win

Newcastle United Blog - NUFC news, blogs and debate. 08 November @ 04:00 AM EST
Chris Hughton claims that the team's focus was the key to Newcastle United's win over Peterborough yesterday. Cardiff lost away to derby rivals Swansea and West Brom managed to beat promotion hopefuls Leicester, which means a bit of a gap has opened up between the top 2 and the chasing back. After the game, Hughton said: "We have [. Click to continue reading...

Portsmouth To Win The Premier League?

SoccerLens 02 November @ 02:50 AM EST

About six weeks ago I did a piece predicting West Ham to win the Premier League based on their league position this year and Manchester United's league position last year after 5 games.

That prediction hasn't been working out too well (hopefully you didn't think I was serious...although I'm pretty sure I still managed to annoy some Millwall fans.

Wenger names 18-man squad for Carling Cup

Arsenal Insider 28 October @ 07:47 AM EST

by JAMES CURTIS Imagine breakfast in the Wenger household and you might hear Mrs Arsene snapping at her husband's indecision whether or not to play his Young Guns against Liverpool tonight: "Oh for heavens sake, let the kids play why wont you," she trumps.

It's a point well made, as for Arsenal fans the more exciting prospect of Carling Cup football is the chance of seeing the talented youth in a real pressure setting.

Different games, different midfields

Oh, You Beauty... 26 October @ 07:25 PM EST
In the midst of the Alonso summer saga, I posted the results from different midfield pairings. Lucas/Mascherano's line looked like this:
6 wins, 4 draws
2-0 West Brom, 3-0 West Ham, 4-1 United, 1-1 City, 1-1 Wigan, 0-0 Stoke, 5-1 Newcastle, 3-1 PSV [4-4-2], 0-0 Fulham [4-4-2], 2-1 Marseille
Let's ignore the PSV and Fulham games because of the 4-4-2 formation in Gerrard's absence (and Torres' against PSV). Click to continue reading...

Are Giggs And Neville Right About Footballers’ Salaries?

Republik Of Mancunia 15 October @ 03:00 AM EST

Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have both surprisingly spoken out about the controversial issue of football players earning every penny of their astronomically large salaries.

When the starting salary for a nurse is £20k a year, a teacher is £21k a year and a police officer is £22k a year, it's hard to argue that John Terry deserves £160k a week!
