Mike Ashley did this two years ago, before our last game against West Brom, and he's doing it again for our last game against Arsenal on Sunday. Mike Ashley offers £1M in bonuses Mike is offering £1M in bonuses to the non-playing staff if Newcastle can get a win on Sunday, and of course [...]
1. David Luiz is trying to develop a tabloid persona as 'the Smirker'. 2. It's getting tight at the bottom. 3. 'Agh win it late, C!' is an appropriate anagram of Wigan Athletic after Callum McManaman's late winner against West Brom. 4. Indeed, it was a day for late lifelines at both ends of the [...]
Newcastle gave a similar performance on Saturday at West Ham, that we gave two weeks ago at West Brom, and both games got us a decent away point, with the Newcastle side playing well in the first half, and then hanging on for the point in the second half in both games. Jonas Gutierrez [...]
We've had some bad luck this season there's no doubt about that but we have also had enough good luck. Papiss Cisse can he get the goals to save us? Some of the good luck are the three last minute goals scored by Papiss Cisse against West Brom, Stoke and Fulham, all [...]
It was case of good news bad news for Newcastle United today, as we got a very good point at West Ham and a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw, but Wigan are starting the escape they make every season from the drop, by beating West Brom 3-2 at the Hawthorns and now they are [...]
Newcastle gained a good point and a clean sheet at West Ham today when we drew 0-0 with West Ham, but Wigan won 3-2 at West Brom in a surprise result, so we are now 2 points worse off than we were before the game today, with Wigan only 2 points behind us with a [...]
Out of the seven Premier League matches today, six of them could have huge implications on the race for Europe and/or relegation. The only dead rubber is Fulham against Reading, where the fate of both clubs is already sealed.
Depending on your persuasions, the biggest matches of the day could either be the battle to avoid relegation (West Ham vs Newcastle, West Brom vs Wigan and Norwich vs Aston Villa) or the race to finish in the top four in order to qualify for the Champions League (Spurs vs Southampton, Swansea vs Manchester City, QPR vs Arsenal).
Alan Pardew said he was happy with the performance against West Brom yesterday, and said after the game that he thought Newcastle showed exactly what the team needed to show, without getting the three points Gouffran celebrates with Haidara after scoring This is what Alan said immediately after the game: "I'm really pleased with a [.
Tomorrow's game at West Brom is a very important game for Newcastle and yes I say that for every game Newcastle play in the season because it's true. But tomorrow is a little more important than usual, after we were completely humiliated and humbled last Sunday by Sunderland at home beaten [...]
We were wondering if Rob Elliot would be fit for the important game at West Brom tomorrow afternoon, after Rob injured his ankle on Sunday, but he is fit to play and will line up between the sticks for Newcastle at the Hawthorns tomorrow. Rob Elliot needs to be in top form tomorrow Only [...]
...on loan to a club in European competition next season!
As per a report in the written press this morning here, Romelu Lukaku is rumoured to have asked Chelsea to spend another season on loan next season but to a club that is involved in European football and Swansea are rumoured to be interested!
West Ham will have to pay Liverpool £1million if they beat the drop as part of Andy Carroll's loan deal, writes the Sunday People. A clause in the contract which took the 24-year-old striker to Upton Park will be triggered as soon as the Hammers retain their Premier League status. The seven-figure sum was inserted because the undisclosed loan fee was believed to be small – and a drop in the ocean compared to the £25m the Hammers will receive for being part of the Premier League next season when the new TV rights deal kicks in.
Per Mertesacker may have done his captain at Arsenal a huge favour on Saturday. The big German centre back suffered a rush of blood to the head against West Brom, giving away a penalty and earning himself a red card into the bargain. That meant that Vermaelen was brought on for the last 20 minutes, and he will also start the next game against Norwich City because Mertesacker will be suspended.
Why We Shouldn't Ignore The Last 20 Minutes by Dan S.
We were 70 minutes in at the Hawthorns and it was all too good to be true. In a season where Arsenal have routinely buckled under pressure, at a stage of the year where we have to keep on winning (at least until Spurs or Chelsea slip up) it seemed all too straight forward.
Steve Bould has been taking charge of the press duties for Arsenal this week, apparently Arsene Wenger has not been very well. The assistant is understandably happy about the improved defensive performance in the last three games, because he was a part of the famous Gunners back four that reveled in 1-0 victories.
It's a trip to the midlands today and a game against West Brom.
This fixture last year was one of the most tense, nerve-wracking Arsenal games I can ever remember. We took an early lead, let it slip to go 2-1 behind, got it back 3-2 and then hung on for dear life, quite literally at times, to the lead which would guarantee us Champions League football.
West Bromwich Albion vs Arsenal preview, predicted line up and score line by KJ
Arsenal are in some good form at the moment with five wins in seven. However, looking at our fixture list, this could be one of the trickier games in our fight for the top four. Arsenal are currently the hot Even Money favourites to win which seems like an easy way to double your money, and if you take advantage of the bonuses available from FREEbets.
Today we return to the scene of our triumph (if you could call it that) last season. Martin Fulop might want to claim all credits but we still have to put shots at him for him to gift us goals. Andre Santos and Yossi Benayoun, 2 of the goalscorers from last season, are no longer with us for one reason or another.
When Arsenal take on West Brom at the Hawthorns tomorrow, they will be facing a team with a good home record over the season. Their recent form has not been so good, however, with just three wins from the last nine. They came against Sunderland, Swansea and Norwich, so the Gunners should not be too worried.
Arsenal got some good news this week when it was announced that Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere should be able to return from injury soon. However, that means the team will have to do without them again on Saturday April 6 when they travel to Birmingham to take on West Brom. The points are crucial as usual as the race for third and fourth place is still pretty hot and heavy.
Arsene Wenger's assistant at Arsenal, Steve Bould, has given Arsenal fans some much needed good news on the injury situation at the club. Following the devastating blow to the French midfielder Abou Diaby last week, it is a welcome change to hear of some injured players returning sooner than first thought.
Arsene Wenger has come out in support of his Arsenal forward Theo Walcott, rejecting any suggestion that the 23-year old has become complacent since signing a lucrative new contract in July. There have been some people who think that Walcott's failure to score since the end of January is a damning indication that he was just playing for his new deal earlier in the season, so is there any truth in it?
Manchester United travel to the Hawthorn's to take on West Brom in the final game of the season, and look cracking value at 1.83 with bet365 to round off with another victory. Success in the game will see them equal their best ever points haul in a Premier League season (91 in 1999/00), and the [...]
West Brom fans are receiving an unexpected windfall following Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to retire at the end of the season. The Baggies' final match of the season is at home to Manchester United, which means it is also Fergie's last game in the dugout. With United fans desperate to be there to see him [.
Looking around all the hundreds of Arsenal blogs out there in the ethernet, it seems that most Gooners seem keen on Arsene Wenger going for QPR's Loic Remy or Aston Villa's Christian Benteke (who apparently is an Arsenal fan anyway) but in my opinion there is one much better man in front of our noses.
Being out of the cups certainly seems to suit this Arsenal side. Finally showing the sort of form that deserted us at the start of the season, even our Ivorian Messi Gervinho is finally getting back in on the action. Yet when you take a step back, it's all rather frustrating. The defensive stability which looks set to bookmark our season was not there at a time which could have defined our season, and players who spent time in and out of the side playing poorly seem to have found a fighting spirit and determination that could ultimately have helped end the anxious wait for silverware.

Arsenal once again will face another match without several star players from this season. Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott are both still sidelined due to injury and it is likely to see either Gervinho or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the place of Walcott this afternoon. However, the two key players should be back against Norwich next weekend.
There were a couple of comments in the Villa match infographic post which suggested I look at Liverpool's aerial stats. It's a valid concern, given that Liverpool have often struggled against aerially dominant strikers, whether Benteke, Carlton Cole, Jon Walters, or Olivier Giroud, seemingly more susceptible to crosses and set plays.
Wigan are battling for their Premier League lives, and while we were all set to roll out West Brom's James Morrison as our Funny Feeling Friday this weekend to complement our Lukaku choice from just a few weeks ago, it ... Continue reading →
We've had some good success with West Brom Funny Feeling Fridays over the past year, picking the 2% owned Peter Odemwingie to score after six starts without a goal in early 2012, the day before his hat trick against Wolves. That ... Continue reading →
Watch out England. There are reports inThe Mailtonight that Hull City are very interested in making a move for out-of-sorts West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie, so don't be too surprised if you see the Nigerian jumping into his land rover and heading up the motorway to Kingston-Upon-Hull.
Football is like life in that fortune is a fragile mistress. There is a delicate poise between triumph and tragedy at all times. Sequences of events can occur that are beyond our control. There is no mystical, benevolent force powering them. We control and manipulate our own destinies for the most part, but the universe is blind and behaves with complete ambivalence towards our existence.
