By AriesArsene Wenger doesn't think that van Persie has a cat in hell's chance to play against
Chelsea next Sunday but the player himself was so insistent about getting permission to fly to
Serbia that Wenger had to let him go."I let him go on his insistence. However, I doubt that the
treatment will provide the publicised results.

After 2 weeks wait our team failed us, what went wrong? I don't really know, a slight attitude
problem I would guess. We need more desire to win. We need to believe..
If we still need to find a scapegoat we cannot for a change point the finger at our favourite
villains Diaby, Eboue or Bendtner.

Sunderland went ahead with a Darren Bent goal in the 71st minute and held on for the win. A
somewhat lucky goal but the they are getting quite the reputation as the club that the big four
fear the most. Liverpool and Man Utd have had their share of difficulties with them, so it was
never going to be easy for Arsenal.

If there was any consolation, this was the first time this season we had really deserved to lose:
both the defeats to United and City were particularly galling because we were the better team.
Credit Sunderland. While their performance wasn't out of this world, they did what they had to do.

On recent evidence, probably not. If you came thinking this was going to be another intense post
after the previous one, I'm afraid it won't. Previewing a Sunderland match just doesn't have the
same amount of appeal as say, previewing, I don't know a match against Newcastle. Whoops. Cross
that out.

So, France made it to the World Cup at the expense of the Republic of Ireland. Expected? Maybe.
Still, the way Les Blues made it through is far more than questionable.
For those of you who were hibernating during the past week and somehow don't know how France
qualified, Thierry Henry handled the ball 13 minutes into extra time and passed it to William
Gallas, who headed the controversial goal allowing France to reach next year's finals with a 2-1
win on aggregate.

The final international break of the year is over. How good does that sound?
Real football returns tomorrow, and unlike many Premiership weekends, it is Saturday that looks
the tastier of the days. Liverpool and City play each other at lunchtime, United face Everton in
the evening, Chelsea are involved and we have a very tricky trip to Sunderland to negotiate.

The appetite for commentary on the farce in Paris still seems strong, and I thought Arsene
Wenger had a very wise take on the entire situation today. Wenger is, obviously, a French
supporter and very close with Henry. In fairness to the Irish fans, the world football community,
and for the sake of Henry, he called for the game to be replayed.

A bit of conjecture here. The injury news is looking a bit more positive but that might not be
what could be worrying Arsene Wenger now.
He has to get William Gallas and Bacary Sagna to refocus on club football after the Ireland
France odyssey. Gallas of course was one of the principal characters in the France farce and might
be in for some stick with fans with Irish national players in their club like City and Aston
Villa.

That's an expression I really dislike!
Being the sufferer of bad bones as I am, in the days when I lived with my Mother and would be in
dreadful pain and discomfort, she would often say, well think youself lucky, look at so and so up
in the village, she's in a wheelchair with her Arthritis!
