The Indonesian based Bakrie group have taken ownership, 100%, of Brisbane Roar.
With Clive Palmer, Tony Sage, Nathan Tinkler and all the Billionaires in and around Sydney FC
ownership it can't be too hard for the hard-nosed progressive Aussie businessmen to see how they
might get an opportunity to meet and greet and get introduced to some very rich men.
After an impressive two game road trip that earned six points, third place Wellington Phoenix
return home to host fourth place Melbourne Heart in a crucial A-League game at Westpac Stadium on
Saturday.
Over the weekend, Alex Smith and Wellington Phoenix came up with another important road victory in
Australia against the Newcastle Jets to move into third place in A-League.
After signing a contract extension this week, Alex Smith will hope to feature in for Wellington
Phoenix when they visit the struggling Newcastle Jets on Friday.
American midfielder/forward Alex Smith signed a contract extension with Wellington Phoenix for the
remained of the A-League season.
With his future very much in doubt, Alex Smith put in a strong performance on Sunday to help
Wellington Phoenix defeat Gold Coast United and move into fourth place in the A-League.
Wellington Phoenix will travel to Australia to take on last place Gold Coast United in a game that
is very important to American forward Alex Smith.
Wellington Silva in his Fluminense days
Arsenal player Wellington Silva has switched Levante for Alcoyano who are currently sitting 17th
in the Spanish second division.
Silva signed for Arsenal from Fluminense at the start of 2010 for around £3.5 million when he was
just 16. He officially joined the Gunners when he turned 18.
Numerous times this season we've hoped for that elusive turnaround. The kind of match that sets the
tone for the rest of the campaign. Sunday's win over Wellington may just have been the type of
result we were looking for. I was mostly happy with the performance. Going forward we were
excellent, with Hernandez and
American forward Alex Smith returned to action for Wellington Phoenix and scored his first goal of
the season but it was not enough to achieve a result on the road against Melbourne Victory.
To build a football brand in Brisbane, the Roar had to win last night. While the crowd had already
halved from 20,000 to 10,000, Roy Morgan found this week that Brisbane is the most watched (TV)
soccer team in the A-League. A shock for Melbourne Victory perhaps.
That was one disappointment from last night.
Brisbane thrashed Perth Glory with a stunning display against arguably the most inept visitors
since....well Adelaide United.
How good do Wellington look compared to these two teams. And this a Perth team that did so well in
Melbourne just last week. What does that tell us about Melbourne?
Alex Smith and Wellington Phoenix will aim to break a five game winless streak in the A-League when
they host Sydney FC on Saturday at Westpac Stadium.
Wellington Phoenix changed their home stadium for Saturday's A-League game against Adelaide United
to Auckland's famed Eden Park but they were only able to play to a disappointing draw.
After an impressive draw against Brisbane last weekend, Wellington Phoenix will hope to continue
their momentum in the A-League when they host Adelaide United on Sunday.
Brisbane Roar will be hoping to not loose to Newcastle so that they get the payoff at the game for
their next home game - 26 November - next Saturday night.
16,400 for Wellington will look minor if they can get to Brisbane to battle for the record.
Wellington Phoenix ended their three game losing streak with a dramatic draw on the road against
A-League power Brisbane Roar.
It is anxious times for a Brisbane Roar fan. I mean hell, the undefeated streak stretches to 34
games. But it's hard not to notice that the last two games have presented a new challenge. It's
hard not to notice that we have not scored from open play in the last two games.
In week one, Central Coast tried to handle us the way they almost did last season, with their
half-open, counter attacking game, but once again, came up short.
At 16,400 the crowd was best on ground.
The Roar were a mile better than Wellington in the first 20 minutes. Then some really crap

changed the game to favour Wellington. How could the ref make rulings that were opposite to ben
Williams last week?
Issey was found out badly in this game.
Check out the video and you'll know how to stop the Roar!
If you watched the recent Wellington Roar game you'll have seen Ivan Franjic played in time and
time again a la the above video training drill. Four men in the box, the ball played back or across
to a Roar player.
In the drill there were only defenders - against Wellington and Victory there were 7 or 8!
Good morning. Unbelievably, its week six of the A-League already. Moving fast isn't it? Although
its been a slow start for the Victory, after last weeks spirited performance things are looking up.
Given the strong showing against the reining Champions and a good result the previous week in
Wellington, a little bit of the pressure has
Andrei Arshavin is supposed to have "warned" Arsene Wenger he may quit becauase he is "glued to
the bench" but it won't be in the January window. So despite this perceived threat, the story is
that he is not leaving.
AA23 told the Telegraph (amongst others): "Right now I don't think about changing clubs.
After a wild year that has seen its share of ups and downs, American forward Alex Smith is finally
settling into the A-league with Wellington Phoenix.

If you're team is bottom you aren't usually happy - and few neutrals would ever tune into watch the
bottom teams in England, Scotland, Spain or Germany.
In Australia it's different - the Melbourne Heart and Adelaide United Dutch Coached teams are
bottom of the A-League but both play good football, or aim to.
Wellington Phoenix will be aiming to move into third place in Australia's A-League when they host
Melbourne Victory on Saturday at Westpac Stadium.

After parting ways with Gold Coast United in the preseason, American forward Alex Smith has signed
with Wellington Phoenix of Australia's A-league.
Hi all,
Welcome to the blog. My stomach feels a bit funny after one mammoth drive back to the big smoke.
It's probably not a good idea to drive for about seven straight hours to Perth in the middle of the
night.
But anyway, I'm temporarily back in town, and it is interesting to see the growing optimism in camp
Glory after Sunday's win.
Like a horse and carriage Bambang Pamungkas and Persija are a partnership many thought was
timeless. With the exception of two years in Malaysia with Selangor and a few months in Netherlands
with EHC Norad Bambang has spent the last 12 years with Persija. An unheard of period of time in
Indonesian football.
Top group:Favourite - Adelaide - amazing recruitment
Victory (Kewell factor?)Roar
Bottom group:Perth, Wellington, Heart, Newcastle (great start guys:) )
Question marks:Sydney (will Emmo make the difference), CCM (will their Roar style no marquee
approach pay dividends?), Gold Coast (will their Dutchmen payoff?

The Capital doesn't have an A-League team, the FFA don't want the Capital, it can't be maintained
with the Brumbies and Raiders and now GWS in the city.
You've heard it all before.
But when you step back from the emotion it's Canberra's intelligence that can and needs to get it
over the line.

Geylang United have been in fine form recently, it's just that Home United have been in better form
and the league leaders breezed out of Bedok Stadium last night with a 3-1 win and three points
extending their lead to five points albeit with a extra game played. Qiu Li continued his fime form
this season netting twice.
