As the Galaxy's leading scorer for four consecutive seasons, which was topped off with a
career-best 17 goals in 2010 before his departure overseas, Edson Buddle will go down as the best
goal poacher to play for the club since Carlo Ruiz. Well, now Edson Buddle is back - and

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has launched a scathing attack on the foreign players in
English football, arguing that they brought the 'curse' of diving into the English game.In his

'pathetic card-waving antics', and insisted that 'the Italian needs to be stopped before this nasty

I don't know about you, but the increasing number of American players playing pivotal roles in the
EPL for various clubs is among the reasons my interest in the league has picked up and is the
subject of this week's column. Incidentally, in case you missed the news, the Galaxy's
Dave's note: Abbott will be joining the Sounder at Heart crew with a nearly
weekly column. His FanPosts opened our eyes to the idea of adding someone with a
different voice who could provide regular columns about roster construction, lineup management and
other stuff.
It's not, you understand, that I resent my regular Tuesday column being held to an as yet
unspecified day. It's that, if it is held, it's for a better reason than that obscene excuse of a
game of pointy-ball college football I had the misfortune to catch in a desolate
Andy Carroll signed for Liverpool one year ago today, and it's fair to say that the big man has
still not settled in at Anfield. The question is, will he ever do the business for Liverpool? Stan
Collymore doesn't think so, and believes that the best way forward would be for Carroll to return
to Newcastle.

Prior to last Wednesday's game at Wigan, Liverpool players were proudly prancing around in Luis
Suarez T-Shirts in an (arguably) misguided show of support. It was uncomfortable to watch, but
Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson believes there may have been method behind Kenny Dalglish's
madness.
Hot on the heels of Liverpool legend Jan Molby claiming Andy Carrol would never make it Anfield,
former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has argued that the former Newcastle man is a 'waste of
money'. In his weekly column for The People, Collymore - who formed a lethal partnership with
Robbie Fowler between 1995 and 1997 - expressed some sympathy for the struggling striker, but

Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger have proved to be a superb defensive partnership for Liverpool over
the last month, and their excellent performances have helped the club achieve the best defensive
record in the league.Liverpool legend John Aldridge recently described Skrtel as an 'accident
waiting to happen', but in his weekly column for the Liverpool Echo, the former striker seemed to

England and Spurs legend Jimmy Greaves has questioned Liverpool's decision to spend such a vast
amount of money on misfiring striker Andy Carroll. In his weekly column for The Sunday People,
Greaves - who scored a fantastic 220 goals in 321 games for Spurs - argued:"If Fernando Torres was
vastly over-priced, then what about the fella Liverpool drafted in on the same day, Andy Carroll?
Former Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers midfielder Robbie Savage has blasted Luis Suarez for
getting caught on camera making a gesture to Fulham fans, but he has also defended the Liverpool
striker over the 'crazy' charge handed down by the FA. In his weekly column, Savage was his usual
blunt self: "The FA charge against Luis Suarez for raising a finger to Fulham supporters is crazy.
Will keep the Galaxy and Chivas USA very busy. Read the column here. As if to confirm that, Chivas

Despite the weather, it was a picture perfect third MLS Cup triumph Sunday for the Galaxy.
It has been a long time coming.
The Galaxy first won MLS Cup in 2002, the year before moving to Home Depot Center, almost a
decade ago.

If there is cause for worry for Galaxy fans ahead of Sunday's MLS Cup showdown between the
heavily favored hosts and the Houston Dynamo, it's that LA are overwhelming favorites.
Liverpool legend Alan Hansen believes Liverpool were 'sluggish' and 'lacked fluency' against
Swansea City at the weekend, but he's confident Liverpool can bounce back with two wins against a
'struggling' Chelsea team in the coming weeks.
In his weekly column for LFC Magazine, Hansen bemoaned Liverpool's failure to create as many
chances as in previous games, but called for Kenny Dalglish's fledgling team to be given more
time:
"As disappointing as the result was, it has to be remembered that this Liverpool side is still
gelling as a team, and there will be days when they just don't get going.

the silverware they really want is the MLS Cup trophy (Photo by Staff Photographer Sean

One more game. One more win. After Sunday's vintage performance against a very good, but
weakened, Real Salt Lake team just one more step remains for the Galaxy to claim a third league

Landon Donovan has never been afraid to criticize anyone, even David Beckham (who incidentally

It's exactly 27 days until MLS Cup 2011 at Home Depot Center.
High time then to take a look at this tear's muddled race for MLS MVP, which is what I spent
Monday (and much of the weekend) doing for today's column.
I'd like to say that after writing that column I filled out my ballot successfully.

Did fans like these in Seattle and players like Sounders goalkeeper Kasey Keller make this
the best-ever MLS season (AP Photo)?
It was while watching the uninspiring Galaxy-Chivas USA game Sunday that I realised just how
good much of the rest of this MLS season had been this year by comparison, especially games like
the Seattle Sounders-San Jose Earthquakes contest I witnessed 24 hours earlier.
It's a good thing the Galaxy have wrapped up the Supporters' Shield, right, with two MLS games
remaining before the playoffs start in the first week of October because the word out of Europe
this morning is that striker Robbie Keane could be out four weeks, which would have him returning
for the Galaxy right around the time they open their playoff campaign.

I've largely been ignoring a largely terrible Chivas USA this season.
Last weekend I checked in on them expecting to write their season obituary. Instead the club is
alive and kicking and building for next season with renewed hope and expectatation.
There's a long way to go, but Coach Robin Fraser has a vision and he's sticking with it.

Eye on the prize: Robbie Keane scores Saturday against Vancouver for his third goal in four
starts since joining the Galaxy (Getty Images).
I spoke with Robbie Keane Monday at Home Depot Center after his just what the docotor ordered
start to his Galaxy career.
I'm guessing he'll do most of his talking on the field.
Former Arsenal captain Lee Dixon is backing his old side to come good against Blackburn Rovers
this weekend. The defender turned pundit believes that the Gunners have turned a corner since
their 8-2 thrashing at the hands of Manchester United three weeks ago.
