Manchester United, Everton, Sunderland, and Birmingham. All of them have entered, but not one of
them has exited for the better.
As I've mentioned on many occasions, Turf Moor is one of the worst places for a visiting team to
travel to. The crowd is insane, and Burnley always are ready to impress their fans.

Lately he's been a man on a mission, and the Republic of Ireland international is hoping to
continue his current form. That's right, I'm talking about Aston Villa center back Richard Dunne.
The man is doing it all for Aston Villa right now, and it is paying major dividends for his
club.
Let's rewind back two weeks you know, before that extremely boring international weekend?

Patience is a virtue, and for two of the Premier League's best players, that patience has
finally paid off. The crazy thing about it all? These two players are on the same team! And the
lucky team is Sunderland.
It was just last season that Sunderland were in the heat of the relegation battle.

In what could be the most obvious Wednesday Wonder to date, Robbie Keane is this week's pick
after his stunning performance on Saturday against Burnley. I'll admit that I've overlooked a
hat-trick for the Wednesday Wonder before and picked somebody else, but there is something special
about that fourth goal.

The Hammers were out to get over a dismal start to the season. Liverpool was ready to steady a
shaky ship say that five times fast and improve on their 4-0 win over Burnley from the week before.
Both teams came to play at Upton Park on Saturday, and neither time gave in throughout the entirety
of the match.

Stoke City may be a small club, but that never seems to faze them when they walk out in front of
the crowd at The Britannia. Saturday was no different.
Chelsea was visiting, and they brought their undefeated record with them, too. Stoke was ready
for a battle, though. It's pretty hard to describe how different Stoke is as a team when they are
playing at home.

It seemed like every week last season somebody from Everton was deserving of the Wednesday
Wonder. This season, though, as short as it has been, has not been the case. With expectations
extremely high at Goodison Park after a fantastic season for an exciting Everton squad, their start
to this season has been less than impressive.

Could Burnley be the Hull of this season? Highly unlikely, but only time will tell. That aside,
what Burnley did over the past week has been very impressive, and it is certainly Wednesday Wonder
material.
It all started midweek last week. Manchester United fans worldwide - myself included - were
salivating at the chance to obliterate this newly promoted Burnley side.

It's that time of year again! Yes, a new Premier League season is under way, and you know what
that means! The Wednesday Wonder is back - whether you like it or not! It seemed like just
yesterday that I was writing my last Wednesday Wonder about Newcastle - and look where THAT landed
them.
That just goes to show that you don't have to show up every week to win this prestigious
award.

It's time - yet again - for a whole team to get some recognition. All season long we haven't
been seeing teams capitalize on opportunities presented to them. That all changed on Monday when
the proverbial golden egg fell into Newcastle's lap, and they actually took advantage of it! With a
late match on Monday night at home against fellow relegation candidates Middlesbrough, Newcastle
was forced to sit tight and watch while the rest of the Premier League battled for position on the
table.

After a fantastic performance by Manchester United in the second leg of their Champions League
semi-final at the Emirates, United winger Park Ji-Sung has cemented himself as this week's
Wednesday Wonder. The man of many names (Park Ji-Sung, Ji-Sung Park, Three-Lung Park) has now had
two consecutive great performances for a Manchester United squad that is rolling.

Given the somewhat weak performances from players around the Premier League this past weekend, I
believe that now is the time to give credit where credit is due. Seventeen years after winning his
second PFA Young Player of the Year, Ryan Giggs was voted as the PFA Player of the Year last
week.

If this news story is any indication, then Arsenal is in for a pretty good 2009/10 Premier
League season. Wolverhampton is back in the Premier League for next season, after securing their
promotion spot this past weekend, by beating QPR at home 1-0. The last time that Wolves were up,
during the 2003/04 season, Arsenal had their glorious undefeated season.

As the saying goes: "There's a first time for everything."
Here at Premiership Talk we like to mix things up a bit every once in awhile. The Wednesday
Wonder is no stranger to this. Although the Wednesday Wonder is normally reserved for a player that
stood out over the past week of football, there have been a few exceptions.

Every little kid dreams of scoring the winning goal for their favorite football club. On Sunday
at Old Trafford, that dream became reality for one kid.
After a Gabriel Agbonlahor goal put Aston Villa up 2-1 in the 58th minute, Sir Alex turned to an
unsuspecting bench player. Federico Macheda, a mere 17-year-old Italian boy, was given his first
playing time for United in one of Manchester United's biggest matches of the season.

I guess he doesn't mind all of this extra weight. With the fate of Portsmouth's season resting on
his shoulders - or better yet, his feet - Peter Crouch has been enjoying a great amount of
consistency on the pitch. Crouch, a 6′7″ striker, has been quietly amassing goals.
Having scored 11 goals in his team's 29 games, Crouch now finds himself in the thick of the race
for the Golden Boot.

The title says it all. The English goalkeeper has been hailed by many as the future of English
football, and his performance in the Carling Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday is
exactly why. With the likes of Edwin van der Sar and Tommy Kuszczak getting the bulk of the playing
time, appearances for Foster are normally few and far between.

Stoke is doing everything in their power to stay up for next season. James Beattie is leading that
charge, and last week it was his turn to step up. It seemed as though a relegation-ready Portsmouth
side was going to walk out of Britannia with all three points in the bag. Coming against a Stoke
squad that has rarely lost at home this season - 3 times to be exact - would be quite the
accomplishment.

Baby steps. That's what most people take when recovering from injury. Eduardo took a few and
decided he was good to run. One year ago - almost to the day - Eduardo suffered an injury
that not many people come back from. The injury? A compound fracture of his ankle. The images?
Sickening to look at.

Manchester City really missed the boat on this one. Jo certainly made sure that he would be missed
by the fans at the City of Manchester Stadium. Everton, meanwhile, are pleased to have Jo on their
side. In his first match playing for Everton, Jo was able to find the back of the net not once, but
twice.

I may be going out of the realm of the Premiership on this one, but rightly so for this footballer.
Over the past weekend, we had an FA Cup weekend instead of our regular weekend jam packed with
Premiership matches. So who stepped up over the last week? Sure there were Premier League players
who carried their teams to victory - but in most cases it was against Championship-level
competition.

With injuries mounting quickly along the Manchester United back line, somebody has needed to step
up. Left back Patrice Evra was out for a long time, came back for the Chelsea match, got injured,
and is now out for 3 more weeks. Center back Rio Ferdinand's injury woes continue (although he may
be back for United's FA Cup match this coming weekend).

As an American, I love nothing better than to watch the Premier League and see a fellow American
being successful. This past week was a perfect example. The match pitted an overachieving Fulham
side against a powerful Chelsea side. Coming into the match, Chelsea was undefeated on the road at
8-1-0, and they had only given up 1 goal.

So close. That is what Marton Fulop was thinking as the whistle blew at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Fulop had played his heart out for all 90 minutes - stopping shot after shot from relentless United
attacks. As the final minutes ticked away, Fulop seemed to have helped Sunderland secure 0-0 draw
against the defending Premier League champs.

What more could Everton ask for after locking up their new midfielder in April? How about a game
winning goal at Spurs? Well that is exactly what the 26 year old South African did on Sunday. After
going into the half tied 0-0 a piece, Pienaar came back onto the pitch with a slight problem - he
was wearing the wrong jersey.
