1. Wingers in Wales- As Wayne Routledge wheeled away in celebration after scoring Swansea's second
goal, Brendan Rodgers probably popped an Aspirin. For newly promoted sides selection dilemmas are
few and far between, making each individual one all...

Swansea vs QPR
Swans: Michel Vorm, Angel Rangel, Steven Caulker, Ashley Williams (capt), Jazz Richards, Kemy
Agustien, Leon Britton, Joe Allen, Wayne Routledge, Scott Sinclair, Danny Graham.
It's apparent that the standards at Newcastle have been raised fairly substantially since Alan
Pardew arrived at Newcastle almost a year ago. James Perch congratulates Colo on late winner at
Nottingham Forest After Pardew assessed the squad in his first few weeks on Tyneside, and he seemed
sure that Wayne Routledge, as one example, would not make the grade at Newcastle [.
The game went ahead amidst many calls for its postponement following the tragic news of Gary
Speed's death. The result doesn't seem that important in the scheme of things right now, but it's
probably a point that will prove invaluable at the end of the season.
Following a heart warming and entirely spontaneous round of applause in place of the planned minute
of silence, the first half didn't provide any shocks.
This game will go ahead despite the tragic news that Wales manager, Gary Speed, has apparently
taken his own life. Naturally, with the game being in Wales and a number of internationals
involved, the game will inevitably be effected in some way. Such sad news.
Alex McLeish has promised a better performance than we were treated to at White Hart Lane and,
in all honesty, it would be difficult to be much worse.
Striker Andy Carroll was the fall-guy for Liverpool after missing a first-half sitter in the
goalless draw at home to Swansea.
For the second successive home match against a newly-promoted team Kenny Dalglish's side failed to
convert their chances.
Carroll's was the miss everyone will remember, although there were enough opportunities created
afterwards to have prevented a third home draw in a row.
Brendan Rodgers claims Swansea City are a better team after ten games in the Premier
League
The Swans boss says his side are better equipped than they were at the start of the season, and
praised the performances of Wayne Routledge and Michel Vorm against Liverpool

Liverpool 0-0 Swansea City | Premier League match report
Swansea deservedly gained only their second away point in the Premier League with a performance
that had the Anfield crowd cheering them off at the final whistle. The Welsh team were indebted to
Michel Vorm, Holland's No 2 goalkeeper, for two outstanding saves at the death, but the quality of
their football merited a point.
Frank Lampard's hat trick helped Chelsea rout Bolton on Sunday while Fulham thrashed QPR 6-0 in
their London derby and Swansea beat Stoke 2-0 in Sunday's other games.
Chelsea is third in the standings after Lampard led the Blues to a 5-1 victory at bottom-place
Bolton.
Daniel Sturridge set the tone for Chelsea's emphatic win at Bolton by heading in a second-minute
opener before setting up Lampard to score his first.
So here it is, the start of the new season. And unlike the rest of you, I can say that since I
really haven't watched a game yet which is an unexpected nice feeling. Yes, we all know the season
really three weeks in and we have only garnered one point and basically made a bile of manure out
of the summer and anything else you can think of, but we need to get on with it.
When Andy Carroll left Newcastle United back in January the fans were told that all of the £35
million would be invested in players. Here are the players we've signed since then:
- Yohann Cabaye (around £5 mil)
- Demba Ba (Free transfer)
- Silvain Marveaux (Free transfer)
- Mehdi Abeid (Free transfer)
- Davide Santon (Undisclosed thought to be about £5 million)
- Gabriel Obertan (£3 million)
- Rob Elliot (Thought to be around £250k)
In that same time period, we have let go or sold the following players:
- Sol Campbell (Free)
- Sheki Kuqi (Free)
- Kevin Nolan (£4.
With the new season just a few short hours from kick off, Toon fans everywhere take stock of the
events of the past few months and are no doubt wondering what kind of start we'll have given the
merciless squad upheaval. Since the transfer window opened Geordies have sat around with baited
breath hoping for [.
So, the time has finally come as Swansea City fans gather up their scarves and hats, don their
new shirts, check their sat navs and AA Road planners, pick out their toilet stops and plan their
trip to Manchester City and a journey to the Etihad Stadium.
For the converted, a four and a half hour drive is in order from Swansea as a convoy of 2500
fans make the trip north from South Wales to face Roberto Mancini's ‘fantasy' football side on
Monday night.
Quick Reminder, Real Life Finishing in a dead heat (on points) for third in the Championship with
Welsh rivals Cardiff City, the Swans made the grade in the playoffs on the strength of a Scott
Sinclair hat trick against Reading. An odd team, they were the 2nd strongest defensive team in the
league and managed an impressive 23 clean sheets.
How much have the EPL's promoted teams have spent so far? - originally posted on
Soccerlens.com
When writing a piece for the Montreal Gazette concerning how much each promoted side had paid to
assemble their roster, it was interesting to note the circumstances of each team. Queens Park
Rangers, though ostensibly backed by the capacious pockets of Bernie Ecclestone and perhaps Lakshmi
Mittal, have spent a miserly ₤1.
It seems Newcastle United have decided that Wayne Routledge simply does not fit into the Newcastle
squad and have sold the lad to Swansea for a reported £2m. Wayne hasn't had much luck in the
Premier League and received criticism when he left Crystal Palace for Tottenham Hotspur from the
then owner, Simon Jordan.

Newcastle United are allegedly negotiating to take Swiss winger Tranquillo Barnetta from Bayer
Leverkusen whilst Enrique is off to Liverpool pronto. According to The Journal, we're already
making a move to sign Tranquillo Barnetta from Bayer Leverkusen, although The Journal in a Daily
Mailish fashion simply states this as fact rather than offering [.
Newcastle did not fare well in the January transfer window. Tranquillo Barnetta new target to

had trouble bringing anybody into the club,. And to cap it all they sold Andy Carroll on the last
day of the [.
Newcastle United's Wayne Routledge only needs a medical to complete a move to Swansea. Meanwhile,
Joey Barton's situation continues to dominate the NUFC headlines. Unfortunately, besides the Barton
furore there's little else happening at the club just now. It seems that Wayne Routledge has agreed
personal terms and has all but signed for Swansea City [.

In the wake of Joey Barton's being transfer listed by Newcastle United and Wayne Routledge signing
for Swansea, I've been running the rule over the squad trying to piece together how they'll play in
the upcoming season. This may get repeated in our season preview, but so be it. This is really more
of a first draft documentation of my thought-process.
Joey Barton's tirades on Twitter has been very well publicised, as have many other players comments
on the social networking sites. Jose Enrique, Wayne Routledge and countless others from teams
across the UK and this has prompted the Premier League to consider rules and regulations for it. Of
course, everybody is entitled to their opinion [.
Alan Pardew gave his post match interviews yesterday before Joey Barton sent those tweets
blasting the Newcastle hierarchy. Carver and Pardew Erdinc deal dead? And of course it will do
absolutely nothing to help Joey get a new deal at the club, and could even hasten his departure
from Newcastle. Jose Enrique was also [.
