Yesterday's Fire news was firmly in the "not good" category. In case you haven't heard, Josip Mikulic is not with the team as he attends to personal issues. He may never return to the club. Combine this with Yamith Cuesta suddenly being gone (loan ended; Fire opted not to buy) the back line is suddenly very, very thin.

Wigan Athletic 0-2 Fulham Premier League October 2011

It's now eight league defeats in a row for Wigan Athletic after Roberto Martinez' side went down 2-0 at home to Fulham.

Despite dominating for large periods of the game, the home side couldn't find a way past Fulham 'keeper Mark Schwarzer, with striker Hugo Rodallega continuing his worrying goul drought.

The Dynamo fought back for a 2-2 draw against a 10-man Columbus Crew. That's right, fought back for a draw against a 10-man Crew.

There are a couple ways to look at tonight's draw.

You could rage against referee Chris Penso for giving a ridiculous penalty against Cam Weaver for a ball to hand in the box and allowed the Crew back in to the game.

Here are the final numbers from the Players Union for base salaries and guaranteed compensation. I don't know about you, but there sure seems to be some wasted money on this list. For example, the Dynamo are paying Carlo Costly nearly a half million in reported pay (there could be more allocation money involved) and all we've gotten is a red card.

During the next few weeks, we'll also visit the back and forward lines. For now, MR will close out your opinion on your starting midfield.

Closing in on a season defining fortnight, I have several questions about our beloved Naranja. We discussed this ad naseum over lunch today. The answers, of course, will mean the difference between attending the playoffs possibly for the last time at Robertson Stadium and watching the playoffs from the depths of my couch (those that are actually broadcast on noncable TV).

Brad Davis is once again shunned despite leading MLS with 13 assists and having an MVP caliber season. What does this guy have to do to get a national team call-up?

Four Houston Dynamo players have been called up by their respective national teams for international matches Sept.

It's beginning to sound a bit like a broken record saying that the next match for the Houston Dynamo is important or a must win, but at this stage of the season with the Dynamo in the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, that's simply going to be the case.

Tonight's match against Real Salt Lake provides an interesting challenge for Houston in both the fact that RSL is still a good team (don't let the record and schizophrenic results fool you) and that Adam Moffat, who's been a revelation since joining the club in a trade, is suspended.

The last time D.C. United came to Toyota Park was on October 16, 2010. It was Brian McBride's last home game and it turned out to be C.J. Brown's last home game too. 306 days is a long time but it feels even longer ago, more distant. The lineup for that game was Andrew Dykstra; Steve Kinney, Wilman Conde, Kwame Watson-Siriboe, Deris Umanzor; Bratislav Ristic, Logan Pause, Peter Lowry, Marco Pappa; Brian McBride, Patrick Nyarko.

It's been over two months since we took a look at the roster construction of the Chicago Fire and since then the team has made a couple of moves and HTIOT has acquired some detailed information on the senior roster vs. the supplemental roster. How will Pavel Pardo fit into things? Where does Sebastian Grazzini fall?

I think it's fair to say that opinions among Dynamo fans are split about head coach Dominic Kinnear at the moment. For the second straight season, it's the middle of summer and the Dynamo's season is already on the verge of collapse and the question must be asked, who is to blame?

I don't necessarily think the problem is as simple as replacing the head coach.

Nobody does the road draw quite like the Houston Dynamo. After an all-together awful first half, Houston was better in the second half but still were unable to generate anything resembling a dangerous attack from the run of play. Meanwhile on the other end of the pitch, Tally Hall was once again the star making several highlight reel saves and single-handedly carrying the Dynamo on his back.

Well, the Houston Dynamo are going to Washington but I couldn't resist shoehorning that headline in this season.

It's been a tough week for Dynamo fans in the wake of last weekend's home debacle against the Columbus Crew. Virtually all the positives energy and hopes for the season have drained away after Houston resumed their struggles after a one-week reprieve thanks to Chivas USA.

The Fire have announced that the team has loaned defender Kwame Watson-Siriboe to the NASL's FC Tampa Bay for the remainder of the 2011 season. The second year center back had fallen behind Josip Mikulic, Cory Gibbs, Yamith Cuesta, and Dasan Robinson for playing time at the position but has seen some action in reserve matches.

Some quick thoughts here. If you check out the link, there isn't much more to the story. The biggest development is the lack of CB options. Josip Mikulic is recovering from a collar bone injury, Cory Gibbs is injury prone, and Dasan Robinson does not look like a player that can go a full 90 minutes.

It was a weird night at Robertson Stadium on Saturday. On one hand you have Koke scoring his first career MLS goal and the Dynamo taking a point off what might be the Eastern Conference's best team, the New York Red Bulls. On the other hand you have the Dynamo allowing a stoppage time goal that cost them the full three points thanks to yet another momentary lapse of reason (hopefully Pink Floyd doesn't sue me for that).

With the recent signing of Cristian Nazarit, the Chicago Fire have filled the roster and used the final international slot. A lot of people have taken note at the large number of forwards we have now, and that our defense is still lacking in discipline and health. Given that, why did we pick up Nazarit, another forward, instead of adding to our depth defensively?

The first half can be described with five words: a dull half of soccer.

Neither team was really able to find any flow to their game and while the Dynamo had the better of possession, they were able to convert that in to scoring chances, let alone goals. Houston struggled the entire half to link up with the attack as Je-Vaughan Watson, playing in place of the injured Geoff Cameron, was virtually invisible.

Watson deal could happen today

According to Jose de Jesus Ortiz's latest blog entry on Chron.com, the Dynamo and Watson's new agency are close to an agreement, and could finalize paperwork and contract today. Something JJO also points out is the Dynamo are also looking at two other players, who JJO says, would make the Dynamo one of the most dynamic MLS teams.

Dynamo and Jamaican Mid Watson return to talks

According to the Houston Dynamo website, the talks with Jamaican midfielder JeVaughn Watson are back on after he showed the door to his previous agent. Sources indicate his previous agent was asking for DP money, and apparently Watson just wants to play with his Jamaican counterparts Taylor and Palmer more than he cares about the amount he gets paid to do so.
