Wigan pulled off one of the biggest shocks in recent FA Cup final history to record a surprise 1-0 win over favourites Manchester City. Ben Watson's late goal was enough to secure win for Roberto Martinez's side, whose attention will immediately turn to trying to secure Premier League survival. You can see extended highlights of [.
With the odd snipe here and there over the summer, it's easy to get the impression that Andre
Villas-Boas hasn't quite got over his Chelsea exit and now we have the video evidence to prove it.
Well sort of. Off The Post contributor Will Watson, who served us up a tasty FA Cup exclusive [...]
Regular Off The Post Podcast contributors Dan Jarvis and Will Watson nipped along to a rather
entertaining Q and A with world renowned rap star and occasional footballer John Barnes. Like all
former England internationals, the jewel in the crown of Barnes' entertaining anecdotes gravitated
around Paul Gascoigne.
Paolo Di Canio's Swindon, in League 2, shocked Wigan three levels above them. Callum McManaman
got the ball rolling for Wigan seizing the rebound after Ben Watson's penalty struck the post. But
Swindon playing some really good football staged a comeback through Alan Connell and Paul
Benson.
The Houston Dynamo announced the trade of Jamaican midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson to FC Dallas for a second round 2015 MLS SuperDraft pick. With the trade, the Dynamo seemed to clear the way to move Hearts midfielder Andrew Driver to the club since Watson's move opens an international roster spot.
Earlier today, the Dynamo confirmed interest in Driver and could be set to make the move official in the coming days.
The Houston Dynamo may have failed to win their last two MLS games, but that pair of poor results
did not stop them from grabbing a convincing victory in their CONCACAF Champions League opener.
The Dynamo got their campaign in the regional competition started with a 3-1 win over Salvadoran
club C.
New Dynamo DP is having an easier than expected transition from the Honduran League to MLS. He
has already help set up a goal and has played "well on both sides of the ball" in three 90 minute
shifts. (MLS Soccer)
Jonathon and Eddie discuss the upcoming home stand, players returning from injury, and DC
United.
I've been debating whether this tidbit of transfer rumor deserves any traction from DynamoTheory
or not. More and more sites are picking up on it, indicating there may be something more to it than
just heresay and conjecture. As recently as yesterday, I began seeing reports on Twitter of
interest in Sone Aluko, ex-Rangers left-footed Winger, from multiple clubs.
A match preview from the Houston Dynamo website for today's game against the Scorpions. If
Houston wins they will play the winner of Dallas/Charlotte. (Houston Dynamo)
Dynamo reserves will get a chance to shine this week with a USOC game against San Antonio and
an international friendly against Valencia.
In the 67th minute, Co-Captain of the Houston Dynamo, Brad Davis opened his account with El
Banco. The first goal to be scored in BBVA Compass Stadium will also be remembered for not only its
significance, but for how right the moment felt. It was fitting for Brian Ching to score the first
and last goals at Robertson Stadium, and it was fitting for Brad Davis to score the first goal at
BBVA Compass Stadium.
The Houston Dynamo just released this video today of last Saturday's 4-0 win over SMU, the
team's first with Brian Ching back in the lineup. The Captain mentioned on Glenn Davis' program
last night that Brad Davis told him he thought this might be Dynamo's most technical-oriented squad
ever.
Portland came out in a 4-5-1 and Nagbe saw his first action of the pre-season as Portland
defeated the Houston Dynamo 2-0. The goals came from Captain Jack Jewsbury (on an assist from Ryan
Kawoluk) and James Marcelin.
From the tweets Bright Dike started as the lone man up top and the defense was pretty shaky in
the early goings.
Watson and Taylor Join Jamaica for World Cup Qualifiers
Jermaine Taylor and Je-Vaughan Watson join Andre Hainault and Geoff Cameron on international
duty. Kinnear has some holes to fill in the defense for this weekend's match in Vancouver.

Chicago Fire vs. Michigan Bucks in 3rd Round U.S. Open Cup play. It's halftime and the score is
tied 1-1. Corben Bone scored a goal in the 28th minute. Kenny Uzoigwe opened the scoring when he
put the Bucks up 1-0 in the 9th minute. Chicago has not looked good and they are fortunate to have
the game tied 1-1 unfortunately.
Sporting KC got an early goal from Soony Saad off an assist from Luke Sassano, and that was all the
Swope Park Rangers needed to get the 1-0 win. Things got testy towards the end, as two Chicago Fire
players, Daniel Paladini and Kwame Watson-Sirboe both picked up red cards in the 87th minute as the
Fire finished with 9 men.
The Chicago Fire have taken what appears to be a major step in improving their back line.
According to reports out of Germany, the Fire have agreed to a one-year deal with Arne
Friedrich, a German national team centerback. Friedrich confirmed the signing on his own
website.
Peruvian-born, Miami, Florida based midfielder Fabrizio Pittaluga traveled over 1,300 miles and
emerged from a group of 160 players to capture the Chicago Fire's annual Open Tryout. Pittaluga
will join the Fire for the first phase of preseason training camp in Ave Maria, Florida, located
less than 120 miles away from his hometown of Miami.
It's that time of the year again when the MLS Players Union releases the latest player salary
information. There's no real surprises for the Dynamo. Brian Ching's salary is way down compared to
last season (we knew that), Brad Davis is the highest paid player on the team and Tally Hall got a
massive, and deserved, raise.
Cory Gibbs has suffered yet another injury centerback.
The veteran, but oft-injured, defender will miss the next 4-to-6 months after undergoing surgery
for a torn right meniscus on Tuesday. According to the Fire, the injury was suffered in training
during last Wednesday.
It's a pretty nice Monday morning for Dynamo fans out there. Two road victories in a row, and
two shutouts: this is probably way above what most of us were expecting, and a great way to prepare
for a tough trip to Seattle (honestly, I'd sign for this 1-1 draw we ended up with last
season).
But still, it's the beginning of the season and there's plenty of room for improvements.
The Dynamo fought back for a 2-2 draw against a 10-man Columbus Crew. That's right, fought back
for a draw against a 10-man Crew.
There are a couple ways to look at tonight's draw.
You could rage against referee Chris Penso for giving a ridiculous penalty against Cam Weaver
for a ball to hand in the box and allowed the Crew back in to the game.
Here are the final numbers from the Players Union for base salaries and guaranteed compensation.
I don't know about you, but there sure seems to be some wasted money on this list. For example, the
Dynamo are paying Carlo Costly nearly a half million in reported pay (there could be more
allocation money involved) and all we've gotten is a red card.
Wigan Athletic 0-2 Fulham Premier League October 2011
It's now eight league defeats in a row for Wigan Athletic after Roberto Martinez' side went down
2-0 at home to Fulham.
Despite dominating for large periods of the game, the home side couldn't find a way past Fulham
'keeper Mark Schwarzer, with striker Hugo Rodallega continuing his worrying goul drought.
In the comments, please elaborate whether your choice may change if we bow out of the play off
race. Does your choice mirror your wishes for next season, assuming there is no big midfield roster
addition?

With the MLS transfer window now open, it should be a pretty lively next few days for the Men In
Red. From Alex joining the club to players getting shipped out to make room for a potential signing
or two, the roster is going to look a bit different in the days ahead.
The Philadelphia Union bested the Costa Rican under-20 national team today, beating the
potential Olympic squad 3-0.
Rookie striker Chandler Hoffman, Colombian midfielder Roger Torres and Supplemental Draft pick
Antoine Hopponet scored for the Union in the win.
The video for this second friendly is not as clear as the one for the team's first friendly, but
Josue Martinez, Porfirio Lopez and Keon Daniel are easily spotted early on.
Watson for England By the age of 25, it's normally time to settle down in a job, accept that Phil
Collins does indeed have a few catchy numbers and limber up for a begrudging jog towards
reproduction and sensible haircuts. Certainly, the fantasy of becoming a respected figure on the
global footballing stage is over.
Yesterday's Fire news was firmly in the "not good" category. In case you haven't heard, Josip
Mikulic is not with the team as he attends to personal issues. He may never return to the club.
Combine this with Yamith Cuesta suddenly being gone (loan ended; Fire opted not to buy) the back
line is suddenly very, very thin.
So, West Ham unveiled their new mascot 'Hammerhead' before their 1-0 win over Barnsley at Upton
Park on Saturday...
Saints be praised, it looks like he's got a back story too:
"Foundered in the Thames Iron Works many decades ago, the workers who crafted a new champion
drew on the spirits of heroes old and new to create the ultimate goal machine.
Closing in on a season defining fortnight, I have several questions about our beloved Naranja. We
discussed this ad naseum over lunch today. The answers, of course, will mean the difference between
attending the playoffs possibly for the last time at Robertson Stadium and watching the playoffs
from the depths of my couch (those that are actually broadcast on noncable TV).
