... And no, I'm not freaking about it. Yet.
I think you need a good half-season of attendance numbers to really judge where everyone is at.
This allows time for games on a variety of days, allows teams to see quality and/or regional
opponents; allows games in better weather; and some of the other competing sports clear out as
college basketball, the NBA and NHL end.
Clearly the Redskins are king in the nation's capital, I mean just look a Brian Orakpo
(center).
But I think D.C. United has got a leg up on the Nationals. Santino Quaranta (left) is looking good
and representing the sport well -- you'd never guess he used to have a drug problem.
Ryan Zimmerman (right) looks a little ridiculous -- especially from the waist down.
He scored 150 goals for Manchester United in just five seasons - yes 150 goals - and he's currently
on the books at Real Madrid - but reports in England suggest that Ruud van Nistelrooy could move to
Blackburn of all places.
This is essentially MJ to the Washington Wizards redux. (Michael Jordan, not Michael Jackson,
relax.
Below is the PSA Devon McTavish shot for the Century Council. From the Century Council blog:
In addition to sponsoring Major League Soccer's D.C. United club
again this season, The Century Council is proud to partner with the team's star midfielder, Devon
McTavish. Devon is appearing in a public service announcement (PSA) currently running in the
Washington, DC area on Comcast SportsNet.
United goalkeeper Milos Kocic and midfielder Ben Olsen took in the Washington Wizards-Miami Heat
game last night at the Verizon Center. Unfortunately, the Wizards lost 93-89 despite Gilbert
Arenas' 32 points.
Tuesday night at the Verizon Center, the Washington Wizards will honor Ben Olsen after
the third quarter of its game against the Philadelphia 76ers. D.C. United fans wishing to attend
can purchase $14 tickets to the game in honor of the Black-and-Red's legendary #14.
