Honduras was already going to be without a number of regulars for its friendly against the
United States on Saturday, but a recent development means that Los Catrachos will be even more
shorthanded than previously thought.
Stoke City defensive midfielder Wilson Palacios has had to withdraw from Honduras' roster due to
a knee injury, according to reports from Honduras, and he won't take on the U.
Honduras has announced its roster for the Oct. 8 friendly against the United States in Miami, a
roster that does not include a few regulars while carrying a bit of an MLS feel to it.
Sporting Kansas City's Roger Espinoza, FC Dallas' Marvin Chavez and Houston's Carlo Costly were
all summoned for the match.

The fifth day of Gold Cup action took place at FIU Stadium in Miami, Florida on Friday night,
and it saw one team qualify for the knockout stages while another put on a finishing clinic.
Jamaica stayed in first place of Group B and reached the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup for the
first time since 2005 with a 2-0 win over Guatemala.
Only one of Sporting Kansas City's Gold Cup call ups made the field tonight. Shavar Thomas started
and played the full game for Jamaica as they took out Guatemala 2-0 thanks to two goals by Demar
Phillips. The Jamaicans now sit on top of their group as the only team to win both of their games
with a plus 6 goal difference.
Philadelphia Union striker Carlos Ruiz and the Guatemalan national team fought their way to a
scoreless draw Monday night with Honduras in each team's opening game of the 2011 Gold Cup despite
going down to nine men.
Ruiz, who went ninety minutes, did not enjoy many chances on goal himself but was able to create
some chances for other players, such as the Chicago Fire's Marco Pappa.

The 2011 Central American Cup in Panama came to a close on Sunday, and World Cup participant
Honduras walked away victorious.
Honduras claimed its third Central American title, defeating a 10-man Costa Rica side, 2-1, in
Panama City. Los Catrachos took an early lead through a rifled finish from close range by Walter
Martinez in the 8th minute, and Emil Martinez added a second off a free kick in the 53rd.
The Copa Centroamericana has been decided in favour of Honduras who defeated record champions
Costa Rica in the final by two goals to one. Walter and Emil Martinez scored the goals as Honduras
secured their first title win since 1995 and both finalists secured qualification for the CONCACAF
Gold Cup along with El Salvador, Panama and Guatemala.
2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers Honduras withstood a late comeback by Costa Rica to win the Copa
Centroamerica 2011 final 2-1 on Sunday night. The victory gives the Hondurans their third Central
