Reports suggest that one of our crocked strikers, Dexter Blackstock, could make a return in
tomorrow's match at Middlesbrough, but also that Nathan Tyson will remain on the sidelines for a
few weeks yet. Chris Gunter missed Wales' match last week but should be fit to resume tomorrow. For
all you stats fans, Forest are now [.

Burley's assistants, Terry Butcher and Paul Hegarty, were also released, 48 hours after Scotland
succumbed to a 3-0 friendly defeat by Wales. The SFA had decided against dismissing Burley last
month following a review of the national squad's failure to reach the World Cup qualifying
play-offs. But Saturday's humiliation in Cardiff proved .

Scotland's 0-3 defeat to Wales at the weekend has all but sealed Burley's fate, however, and
reports from Bonnie Scotland state George will soon be on the dole. But who would replace Burley?
And are Scotland's failures really a management issue? Graeme Souness may have just crossed himself
off a few Christmas card lists as he told the press he wouldn't want the Scotland job primarily
because the country has produced no talent to work with.

Ramsey was incandescent in Wales 3-0 victory over a disjointed Scotland side. The third goal
reminded me of the way Fabregas took off against Spurs for his goal. And now George Burley faces
the axe.

Once more, with a little less feeling. That probably sums up another abject Scottish performance as
well as anything could. This was bad, bad, bad. Scotland were humiliated again by Wales. The
question remains: how many of these performances can we endure before a change is made. Before the
game George Burley justified his selection of a full back, Danny Fox, because "he'd worked ever so
hard"

The Italy U-21's continued their very disappointing qualifying campaign with another loss, this
time away to Hungary. The Azzurrini needed a win to get back on track, but now qualification is
getting more and more difficult. The Hungarians won 2-0, with goals coming from Nemeth and Koman
(both players played on the Hungarian side that knocked the Italy U-20's out of the U-20 World Cup
last month).

Hannover 96 and Germany goalkeeper Robert Enke has died after allegedly committing suicide. The 32

If there is one thing that really grinds the Yank's gears it is when athletes that commit a
stupid act try to defend it weeks later rather then just allowing the situation to pass and
admitting their own stupidity.Â
Manchester City player and Wales team captain Craig Bellamy was recently a guilty party of such
a crime.

There are few better places to score a last minute goal than Cardiff. Fans from Yorkshire and Wales
are graceless winners and volatile losers. They celebrate goals with a goading, Neanderthal
insolence that has a tendency to leave visitors feeling three inches tall. By the same token they
respond to misfortune with crimson-faced rage and [.

The great Dylan Thomas once wrote, "Wales is the land of my fathers, and my fathers can have it."

in good voice ahead of their side, Cardiff's tie with Nottingham Forest. The teams strolled out,
once again, as with the Forest [.

Its funny how often we discuss rule changes and things we would like to see happen. As many of you

At 3.32 on this video Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey puts away a terrific free-kick. Yes it's
only against Liechtenstein but this set piece would have beaten any top level keeper. Struck on the
sweet spot it angles nicely and picks up speed leaving the goalie with no chance.

It is over.
There are those who claim the Interlull only truly ends when the real football begins but I
consider it done and dusted once the internationals are complete. And so they were last night. I
know Andrei Arshavin scored for Russia, and Aaron Ramsey's back held up enough for him to score for
Wales, but in terms of the rest our lads involvement last night I am clueless.

(Sadly the wit and wisdom of Brian Clough - or at least my attempted tribute to it in the last
line of that column is apparently lost on the copy editors here; it should read "the top one,"
singular, not plural).

Yesterday's against Newport County was one of the away matches I wanted to see most this season.
County are not only bitter rivals (well, as bitter as we get in non-league football) but I guessed
Newport would be near enough that Mrs Nedved would not begrudge a day pass. Besides, as she comes
from a large Welsh family anything that involves going to Wales is generally viewed in a positive
light.
