Former US international and current Fox Soccer broadcaster Eric Wynalda may be called many things, but one of them is definitely not "shrinking violet." Wynalda, at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Convention in Kansas City, Mo.

While there's still much for us to discuss re: the Barcelona/Real Madrid CL tie since our last recap, we've elected to keep things short and sweet this time around.

Monterrey will join Real Salt Lake in the CONCACAF Champions League final.

Humberto Suazo's 81st-minute penalty kick sealed a 1-1 draw at Estadio Azul Wednesday night, lifting Monterrey past Cruz Azul, 3-2 on aggregate in their CCL semifinal.

Cruz Azul, looking to reach the CCL final for the third consecutive year, looked to be on its way after Cesar Villaluz scored in the 24th minute to level the aggregate score and give Cruz Azul the edge because of its away goal in the first leg.

It was fifteen years ago today that Eric Wynalda tallied the only goal of the Inaugural Match in Major League Soccer.

There were those who said it would never, ever survive, but here we are fifteen years later, with an 18-team league that's on its way to 20.

The season is just over a week away from starting. Seriously, containing my excitement for the season is getting hard to do. While I still have my questions about the team, I'm so ready for this season to start. I mean a week from now I'll be in LA for the opener against Chivas USA. At first it's something like Where's Waldo: FA Cup Song Edition, largely because it's impossible to distinguish airplane movements from your average terrible music video dancing (scientific fact).
