The Seattle Sounders have added a PDL team to their youth development program, partnering with
the Tacoma Tide and rebranding the team as Sounders FC U-23. The team will be coached by current
Sounders academy director Darren Sawatzky and play somewhere in Pierce County, although a permanent
home has not yet been determined.
It only took eight years for the Revolution to get Jeremiah White into preseason camp.
White, who spurned MLS for Europe shortly after he became New England's third round pick 2004,
was long gone by the time the team opened camp that year. And even after his contract with Polish
side GKS Belchatow expired in 2010, it appeared that the opportunity to don the paint-brushed stars
and stripes had long since passed.
It turns out that you really can go home again. Just ask Bianca D'Agostino.
The 23-year-old Longmeadow, Mass. native was signed by the Boston Breakers, the team announced
on Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
D'Agostino was taken 18th overall by Philadelphia in last year's WPS Draft before she signed on
with Atlanta during the 2011 season.

CHICAGO -- The third time was the charm for Eclipse Select Soccer Club alumna and Stanford junior
defender Rachel Quon (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest). Quon and the Stanford defense posted its 18th
shutout of the season, none bigger than Sunday's 1-0 win over Duke to win the NCAA Women's College
Cup in Kennesaw, Ga.
Stanford and Duke advanced to Sunday's national championship game of the NCAA Women's College Cup
with three-goal victories in both semifinals on Friday night. Stanford defeated Florida State 3-0
in the first match, and Duke ran out 4-1 victors over Wake Forest. This year's College Cup was
located at Kennesaw State University's new soccer-specific stadium, about 30 minutes northwest of
downtown Atlanta.
After pounding ACC tournament champion Florida State 3-0 on Friday night in the first
semifinal of the College Cup, Stanford has a chance to play once again for the national title.
The Cardinal advanced to soccer's version of the Final Four by completing its third straight
unbeaten season, a feat that parallels the great University of North Carolina teams with Mia Hamm
in the early 1990s.

LOS ANGELES –- Chandler Hoffman is an opportunist.
His ability to get into the right place at the right time has helped him develop into one of the
most feared attackers in college soccer, scoring 18 goals this season at UCLA.

CHICAGO -- The NCAA Women's College Cup is all the buzz heading into the weekend in Kennesaw, Ga.
Locally, there are Eclipse Select Soccer Club alumni playing for three of the remaining four teams
as Stanford faces Florida State and Duke takes on Wake Forest in Friday's semifinal matches for the
right to play for a national championship on Sunday.
The NCAA Women's College Cup, taking place this weekend at Kennesaw State Stadium in Kennesaw
will be the first NCAA soccer championship held in Georgia since 1968. And one thing is for
certain there will be a first-time national champion crowned at this year's NCAA final.
All four College Cup teams were seeded first in their respective brackets, and include three
ACC schools—Wake Forest, Duke and Florida State—and two-time NCAA runner-up Stanford, making
its fourth consecutive College Cup appearance.
Stanford, Florida State, Wake Forest, and Duke -- all #1 seeds in the NCAA Division I Women's
Soccer championship tournament -- advanced to the Women's College Cup as semifinalists this
weekend. On Friday night Stanford overcame Oklahoma State 2-1 after extra time to complete an
unbeaten home record by the graduating seniors and continue a 50-match winning streak in Palo Alto.
When last we checked on the Sounders Academy alumni in their first year of college soccer, we
learned that three would be continuing their seasons into the NCAA Tournament along with a couple
moving into the postseason in lower divisions. But a week later, only one remains.
NCAA Division I
After a bit of a slide (by their standards) in the second half of the season, the defending
national champion Akron Zips - featuring Sounder DeAndre Yedlin at fullback - missed
out on a bye in the NCAA Tournament and instead had to face Northwestern in the first round.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Brian Span (So., Somers, N.Y.) scored the golden goal with
20 seconds remaining in double overtime to propel the fourth-seeded Virginia men's soccer team to a
4-3 victory over fifth-seeded Wake Forest Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the 2011 ACC
Tournament at Klöckner Stadium.
Though the 2011 season for the senior team has come to a close, we're here to remind you that if
you're a Sounder at heart, the season never truly ends. Our first graduated class of Academy
players is making their mark as Freshmen across the college soccer landscape.
It's been a couple of weeks since the last update and the college season is winding down to the
last few matches before conference tournaments and then the NCAA tournament culminating in the

the match, and broke through when Sabele converted a first-half penalty kick in the 34th
minute.

Michael Lahoud has turned heads this year in more than one way. Apart from his steady play, he's
shown that one of the most notable factors about him is his motivation to give back to the
community. Born in Sierra Leone and now plying his trade for Chivas USA, the former WakeForest
midfielder is an integral part of the "Date a Chiva" fundraiser.
Philadelphia born Jeremiah White is looking to come back to North America, but it won't be with
his hometown team.
White, a former American international, was invited to join the Montreal Impact's evaluation
camp, joining 24 other players for a six day tryout with MLS' next team. The versatile attacking
midfielder joins fellow American, and Orlando City Lions star, Jamie Watson in the camp.
The story of this week is Yedlin, who continues to be a huge factor as a freshman on one of the
top teams in the country. Sounders are also popping up on some of the best Division 2 teams in the
country.

#4 Akron - DeAndre Yedlin
(9/24 - 3-0 W @ Tulsa Assist), (9/28 - 3-1 W v Ohio St Goal)
As we noted last week, Yedlin has involved himself in a goal in every game the undefeated Zips
have played this season other than their one scoreless draw.
The race for the Big Ten championship is just starting out, but early indications are that
Indiana has every intention of regaining its place as the conference's premier program.
The No. 7 Hoosiers sent a big messsage on Friday by knocking off Penn State in their Big Ten
opener, posting a 1-0 victory to stay unbeaten on the season.

The college season may still be in its infant stages but that doesn't mean there are no marquee
matches to watch.
No. 1-ranked Louisville will aim to stay perfect in its quest for a national title, but it will
have two tough road games against ranked opponents in a span of three days.

With each year that the MLS academy system is around, college teams will get a little richer for
a couple years. That is certainly the case this season as several college teams are blessed with
loads of talent from the MLS academy system.
Zack Schilawski
Drafted 9th overall in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, Zack Schilawksi found himself doing something most
kids dream about: being paid to play the game of soccer. It was with the New England Revolution who
gave the Cary, NC native a new home in Boston.
In the early part of his career, Zack was scoring goals for Wake Forest University.
Corben Bone -- Getty ImagesChicago Fire midfielder and 2010 first-round draft pick Corben Bone
spent all of last season waiting for a moment to prove his worth.
Bone saw his fellow draft teammates getting significant playing time, as goalkeeper Sean Johnson
and defenders Steven Kinney and Kwame Watson-Siriboe each logged 10 or more games last season.
Soccer America's Ridge Mahoney writes of the growth of the game in the United States.
Something Landon Donovan said in a February interview got me to thinking about what effect the U.S.
team's performance in the 2010 World Cup might have on MLS.
Despite strong World Cup TV ratings, MLS numbers haven't changed.
Cody Arnoux, the former Wake Forest star who left school early to join Everton's reserve team, has
landed at Real Salt Lake after it won a weighted lottery for the 22-year-old forward held on Friday
afternoon.
RSL had the fourth best odds of landing Arnoux among the six teams that took part in the lottery.
Real Salt Lake's luck heading into an important season for the club is certainly looking
good.
Despite having awful odds (5.4 percent) of winning the Cody Arnoux lottery, Real Salt Lake won
the rights to the former Wake Forest star, Everton reserve and Vancouver Whitecaps Division 2
striker.
The Cody Arnoux saga is hours away from reaching a resolution.
According to MLSSoccer.com (scroll down the link), Arnoux, the former Wake Forest star, Everton
reserve and Vancouver Whitecaps Division 2 forward, has signed a contract with the league and will
be allocated to a team through a weighted lottery Friday at 4:30 p.
What is it with Scotsmen on draft day? There must be something about being "on the clock" that just
makes those bhoys go absolutely batty because they seem to be the most habitually-active players
come draft day. Seriously, if you thought Mo Johnston was unique you'd best think again.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. Coming off the best season of his professional career, Revolution midfielder
Pat Phelan re-signed with the club on Monday. Terms of the deal were not released, per MLS and
club policies.
Phelan, who was originally acquired from Toronto FC for an international roster slot back on
June 4, 2008, saw limited time in the back and the midfield in 2008 and 2009.
At some point today, we'll have a complete list of Seattle Sounders Academy players who signed
National Letters of Intent, but we can confirm at least three players who did, as well as one who
has not yet signed. Defender DeAndre Yedlin has officially committed to the University of Akron;
defender Nick Palodichuk has already enrolled at Duke University; and goalkeeper Ryan Herman has
committed to Santa Clara University.
Glenn Davis seems to think so. Read the link to his blog from the MLS Combine, as well as an
excerpt of it below.
Some might believe that the University of Akron could be re-shaping how we see the game of
college soccer. Others may not be so quick to support this theory but one thing is for sure, Zips
coach Caleb Porter is definetly clear on the philosophical way his team will play the game and is
stirring the pot directly and indirectly with his peers.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on... we won't get fooled again!
Or will we.
Zac MacMath, Goalkeeper
After losing former Maryland star goalie and top five pick Chris Seitz to the expansion draft,
the Union grabbed Maryland star goalie Zac MacMath with the fifth pick in the 2011 SuperDraft.
Major League Soccer's annual draft unfolds tomorrow. There will be game changers taken early who
will meet expectations, there will be a few busts to giggle about and there will surely be solid
role players aplenty plucked from the college and amateur ranks. Nothing new there.
But something is likely to happen tomorrow that is unprecedented in MLS draft history.
Check it out below. This includes only the last college a player attended (if he attended more than
one). It also counts the colleges of pro player who were drafted (which happened in the early days
of the Superdraft).
