You may have noticed that Everton's win over Man City at Goodison had to be halted last night
for five or so minutes when a fan made his way onto the pitch and handcuffed himself to the frame
of Joe Hart's goal, before having the cuffs taken off with boltcutters, being forcibly removed by
the police and ejected from the ground entirely.
Arsenal's manager, Arsene Wenger, remains confident in his believes that splashing more money on
the winter market isn't the best solution for his team, despite admitting that the current injury
crisis are the reasons for their poor results in the last three league matches.
Speaking after his team's 2-1 defeat against Manchester United, Wenger stated that the results
won't pushed him to commit in the market as he preferred to wait for the injured ones returning to
action again.
I was speaking to an old friend recently, who is also a fan of the Arsenal, and he was pleading
the case for us to sign Gary Cahill in the January window. An idea which he seems to share with
many of his fellow Gooners (or so it seems looking at blog world!), and this got me thinking about
the current squad and the strengthening options open to Arsène come January 1st.
It's taken a while, but the very first stories concerning a serious move for Emmanuel Adebayor
are starting to hit the newspapers this morning, with the majority of reports seeming to stem from
The Sun.
The Togolese international joined the club on loan in August and proved an instant hit at the
Lane, scoring three times in his first two games.
I try and be realistic about the current team, manager, coaching staff, scouting system and Board
but whichever angle I look at I think the club as a whole are taking a huge gamble that the FFP
rule will be beneficial more to Arsenal than nearly every other club in the PL and that the club
firmly believes financial stability is the key to long term success regardless of current results,
but at what cost?
Over the past couple of years, Arsenal have been severely criticised for their transfer policy
and their reluctance to splash the cash on big name players. The Gunners have been accused of
everything from a lack of ambition to manipulating the share price, as their time without a trophy
grows longer and longer and Arsene Wenger's men slip further and further down the Premier League
pecking order.
Following Spurs' 2-1 win over Wigan at the weekend there was much talk of a permanent deal for
Emmanuel Adebayor. After scoring three goals in his first two games for the club, the giant
Togolese striker linked up well with VDV to create the opening goal at Wigan and his manager Harry
Redknapp was full of praise one again.
A tortuous night following Hibs' league cup win against Motherwell from afar.
They got there in the end, the dramatic cruelty of the penalty shoot-out and all that.
The "real" Hibs, said a relieved Colin Calderwood. But they were minutes away from another
defeat.
Cometh the approaching final whistle, cometh the man.
A few things have shaken out this summer. The inability of Arsenal to hold onto their marquee
players who overtly cite the lack of titles as their reason for moving on while also negotiating
better personal terms with their new owners seems to be the new reality. Arsenal's restrictive wage
structure in this free market economy is seen as a liability as they bleed players to clubs who
pony up without ceilings.
Final transfer deadline frenzy mania. Or in other words, something Arsenal hadn't seen in
years.
The transfer window has finally closed in England, and Arsenal fans got a taste of something
they hadn't eaten in a very long time: to the wire, last minute deals for first-team transfers. In
the very end, we got a plethora of deals that could just be enough to improve our season, most
notably the loan signing of Yossi Benayoun and the £10m signing of Everton's Mikel Arteta.
The question we all have to ask our self is "is Arsenal in crisis? In my honest opinion Arsene
Wenger is delusional, he cannot see the obvious occurring at our club or can he? Does he not want
to state the obvious...?
Firstly with comments suggesting Cesc Fabregas is staying at arsenal and is happy at the club to
24 hours later being confirmed as a Barcelona player, there was no reason to state such a comment
in an interview, this lead to allot of fans loosing faith and belief in out club.
Wesley Sneijder is the name on the lips of many a Man Utd fan. Rumours about an upcoming Red Devil
bid for the Dutch maestro have been swirling all summer, reaching a peak this week when Sniejder
refused to rule out a transfer to the rainy north-west.
One stumbling block to a move appears to be salary, with the Dutchman currently on £250,000 per
week, which does not fit into Man Utd's non-Rooney wage structure.

Out of favor Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch is not paying too much attention to the
speculation surrounding his future.
The 30-year old former QPR striker was reportedly closing in on a return to Loftus Road,
particularly after his encouraging comments for the recently promoted outfit.
Tottenham are set to renew their interest in Joe Cole - if Luka Modric is allowed to go to
Chelsea.
Liverpool outcast Cole looks destined to leave Anfield after just a year and he could be reunited
with his old Hammers boss Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane.
Cole is surplus to requirements on Merseyside following the summer arrival of Jordan Henderson from
Sunderland, but the 29-year-old's move south depends on Spurs granting Modric his dream move across
London to Chelsea.
Really surprised to read La Gazzeta Dello Sport today and the particulars of a phone call
between Leonardo and Jose Mourinho last week. It appears that the two speak often, but this call
was different as it concerned a swap between the two clubs involving Maicon and Kaka.
Real Madrid wanted Maicon last season, while Inter are worried that Wesley Sneijder will move to
the Premier League this summer, so on paper the deal makes sense.

Luka Modric has been linked with a move from Tottenham in recent times as featured on here. In the
article I wrote previously I express my opinion that Champions League football would be a big miss
for the big name stars in North London and it could see some of them leave the club.
Well it seems that the player himself hasn't done his club any favours with some comments he has
made about the speculation of a possible move for him this summer.
Manchester United blew their strict wage structure to keep Wayne Rooney at the club after he
revealed he had no intention of staying.
There has been talk of rewarding bad behaviour which could have a negative impact on other
players' contract discussions.
However, David Gill has today revealed that players who have recently signed contract extensions
(Ryan Giggs, Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick) didn't mention Rooney's deal in a bid to improve
their own contract.
Pfft. The transfer window. Waste of time, if you ask this blog.
31 days to sign a new striker. 31 days to add smoe forward firepower to a side in desperate need of
it. A side whose strikers had combined to score a grand total of just five goals in the Premier
League this season, injury-permitting.
Chelsea's Blues: Bizarre transfer window policy suggests deeper problems is a post from: Just
Football
Lying in 4th is one thing. Being outbid for Steven Pienaar by Spurs? A different matter
altogether. Joe Steppel returns to Just Football to look at the underlying
problems at Chelsea.
