Manchester United seem to have suggested that midfielder Michael Carrick voted for himself in the Players' Player of the Year award. A report on the club's official website says that Carrick was the "unanimous" choice after a vote by members of the squad. If nobody else received any votes, that means Carrick must have picked [.
The 2012 season has finished for Major League Soccer. We know who is in the playoffs and who is starting their off season campaigns. But all of this means it is the start of award season for MLS.
It started yesterday with the announcement of the Golden Boot winner.
On Tuesday, the Seattle Sounders announced that they will hold a vote among Sounders FC supporters to decide who will become the next general manager of the club.
A new general manager being decided by the fans is something unheard of in North American professional sports.
Montreal midfielder Patrice Bernier is Major League Soccer's Player of the Month for August, MLS
announced on Tuesday. Montreal was a perfect 4-0-0 over the month with Bernier scoring three times
with three assists. Bernier got eight of the 19 votes, tying Seattle's Fredy Montero. Bernier got
the nod with five 2nd-choice votes to Montero's four.
In this post game video blog I celebrate the heart shown by TFC midfielder Terry Dunfield, the
"bedding in" of Darren O'Dea, I take a look at Paul Mariner's surprisingly decent road record as
TFC Head Coach and I try and get a grasp on the scale of the task ahead for Toronto on Tuesday as
they face Santos Laguna in the return of the CONCACAF Champions League.
In this post game video I take a quick look back at the abject road loss that saw Toronto drop
three more points on the road, this time in Columbus. I also take a personal look at the increasing
level of apathy and resignation among the hard core support for this team, I take a quick look
ahead to the last meaningful home game of the season, I come out in DEFENSE of Paul Mariner and I
ask Toronto FC if its time to announce a 2013 price freeze.
Darren O'Dea signs for Toronto FC. I take a look at his signing plus explain why I think it was how
Julian De Guzman left Toronto that meant that it was O'Dea and not Olaf Mellberg that joined the
Reds...not that this was necessarily a bad thing.

Some brief video thoughts on a lacklustre display Saturday past by Toronto FC at home versus
Houston Dynamo that saw TFC go down to defeat 2-nil at home. I also address the recent controversy
surrounding TFC Fromt Office staffer Earl Cochrane and take a look ahead to the possible debut of
Eric Hassli on Champions League night this coming Wednesday.
Sammy Ameobi is currently leading our Man of the Match poll with 36% of the vote, but Gabby Obertan is not far behind with 32% of the vote after leading in the early voting. Shane Ferguson currently 3rd in the voting And not surprisingly Shane Ferguson is currently 3rd in the voting so far, [...]
FIFA have announced that the name of the official 2014 World Cup matchball will be the 'Adidas
Brazuca' after over a million Brazilians voted in a poll run on the FIFA website.
'Brazuca' (which is apparently a Brazilian term which refers to the 'national pride in the
Brazilian way of life') received 70 per cent of the vote, beating 'Bossa Nova' and 'Carnavalesca'
into second and third place respectively.

The 99th U.S. Open Cup tournament comes to a close Wednesday night, as Sporting Kansas City
attempts to end the Seattle Sounders' three-year reign of the annual knockout competition at
Livestrong Sporting Park.
A capacity crowd is expected for what should be a great end to a memorable tournament.
There will be an important election this fall, and no, we're not talking about that election.
For the first time in team history, supporters of the Seattle Sounders will vote whether or not to keep Adrian Hanauer as general manager. The Sounders announced the first fan vote for general manager in U.

One of the most talked about things surrounding the Seattle Sounders as an expansion team was the notion that every few years their fans would be able to vote on their General Manager's position.
The first Coaches vote has been released for the Class 3 programs in the Ozarks. The Nixa Eagles
just edge out the Kickapoo Chiefs. As I noted in my game coverage last week, the two teams will
meet on September 20th at Nixa. The game will be the biggest yet for the Eagles in their new home
on the artificial surface at the High School.
I guess I could put up a photo to go with this story but that might tip my hand. Suffice it to
say that my choice isn't the same as the early leader. If the boys at O Zone are going to troll for
traffic this way, might as well ensure there is as large a vote as possible.
Poll Question: Who is Ozarks' top boys soccer player?
First off, the leader is Chris Wondolowski and unless San Jose starts to fade or the stretch run
has someone go made (maybe like another couple 6 goal months?) he should be the MVP. There is no
doubt he is the Most Valuable Player in the league right now. Where it gets interesting for
Sounders fans is that they have four players that received at least one vote on the 20 ballots.
Yesterday afternoon the Timbers managed to not lose for the first time in six games as they tied
FC Dallas 1-1. After looking outclassed at times in the first half, the Timbers gave up a goal
early on after half-time but struggled back and, thanks to a red card to Dallas's Zack Loyd and
some persistence from captain Jack Jewsbury in keeping pressure on the shorthanded Dallas
back-line, the team managed to pull even.

EA SPORTS will be creating custom covers with players from each of your favorite MLS Clubs.
Three of these players will join the winner of MLS's 24 under 24 on the custom MLS FIFA 13 cover.
Which three of the following players do you think deserves the honor of being on the cover?
Even though Alex Caskey probably had the most impressive goal of the week, he wasn't nominated
for Goal of the Week. Eddie Johnson and Fredy Montero were, though. We'll let you decide which one
deserves your vote.
Kickettes, would you rather... A) Play puppet to Andres Iniesta the master for a day, or B) Sleep
soundly with your soft and cuddly Thomas Müller doll forever? We each currently own two life size
David Beckham cardboard cut-outs (one for the office and one for our flats), so naturally our vote
is in favour [.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will go up against each other again for Uefa's Best Player in
Europe award.
Last year's winner Messi is joined in the final three by Barcelona team-mate Andres Iniesta,
while Real Madrid's Ronaldo makes it two years in a row on the shortlist.
The winner will be announced on 30 August in Monaco on the same day as the Champions League
group stage draw.
A video look back at an all to familiar scoreline Saturday night as Toronto FC drops three points
away to the Chicago Fire. I try and explain that there is there is a difference between losing away
without really a chance to be compete to losing away even though you had an excellent chance to win
or at the very least draw.

Afternoon folks! I'm delighted to announce that I've been shortlisted for the Sportskeeda Blogger Awards! I must admit I've never come across the site before but was very happy to receive the email this morning and I've since had chance to look around, it's a very comprehensive sports website and it would be brilliant to receive an accolade from the folks over at Sportskeeda.
MLS has sent out the information for year end voting for the season awards. The media get 33.3% of the vote, the club gets 33.3%, from the CBO's, Technical Director/coach, and communications/community relations, and the final 33.3% from the players themselves. The club and players are prohibited from voting for players on their own team.
Democracy in sports, y'all! Thanks to the Alliance Council, Sounders season ticket holders now have the opportunity to vote on the design for the scarf that will be distributed to STH's in 2013. This was originally conceived as a chance for the fans to design scarves and use a contest to decide the winner, but scheduling constraints led to a compromise in which the team's designers would come up with 4 alternatives and let the fans vote on the winner.
Quiet weekend in American soccer, so I thought it makes sense to start the week off with a new
poll. With beIN Sport the sole television outlet for Americans looking for the USA/Jamaica match,
I want to know how you followed the game. Vote in the poll and then drop a line on your thoughts
about the new soccer heavy network.
