Luis Suarez And so the villain enters stage left. After nine games out, Luis Suarez returned for
twenty minutes on Monday, but it will be his second game that will raise the intrigue this Premier
League weekend. Suarez announced this week that Manchester United fans booing him would simply make
him play better, but one [.
Thierry Henry went from hero to villain in just a matter of days when, following his amazing
match winner against Leeds in the FA Cup, he remonstrated with an Arsenal fan to come onto the
pitch after the game to have a word with the Frenchman.
Arsenal lost the match 3-2 with Swansea playing some excellent passing football, much in the
same style as Arsenal, but won the game following a loose pass from Henry.
It's a bit of an unexpected grab-bag today, with plenty of newsworthy tidbits but not a whole
lot to really sink our teeth into, so we've got a few highlights to hit before getting to the video
that might normally round out a lazy Sunday here on the Liverpool Offside:
* The third round is done, the fourth round is drawn, and because it simply had to happen
it means that Liverpool will host Manchester United in the FA Cup on either January 28th or
29th.
This isn't going to be overly analytical of the game, THFC1882 is about to go
on it's Christmas holidays! Before that though we take a brief look at Tottenham Hotspur versus
Chelsea from The Lane.
On the balance of play both sides will have been satisfied with a point.
Former Liverpool hero turned villain Fernando Torres has come out to defend his choice of
joining rivals Chelsea in January. Torres who has struggled to replicate his Liverpool form with
Chelsea revealed that he shocked by the way his former fans were behaving.
In an interview with Spanish TV station Canal+ Liga, Torres was quoted as saying that
there was more to his move than what many people know or would like to believe.

"People just don't know how good Lucas is," prophesised Rafael Benitez, three years ago to the
month. It was December 2008, and Liverpool had found themselves in a somewhat unfamiliar position
by recent standards. Top of the table, ahead of the pack and with just one defeat for the first
half of the season away to Spurs, the only problem was a smattering of frustrating draws.
When people use the word 'saga', it's usually in relation to a beloved film franchise or some
centuries old epic tale, however this saga doesn't take place in a galaxy far far away or in the
pages of history, it all started when a world class footballer decided to swap the red half of
Manchester for the blue.
Aston Villa 0-2 Liverpool: Bellamy Stars in Reds' Stroll
First-half goals from Craig Bellamy and Martin Skrtel gave Liverpool a comfortable victory over
a lacklustre Aston Villa at Villa Park. The Reds were two-up within 15 minutes and, but for the
woodwork denying them yet again, they could have racked up more against a Villa side which offered
nothing in response.
Villa Park Match Zone: Stewart Downing cements villain status
They cursed his departure in the summer and on Sunday Aston Villa's supporters were reacquainted
with Stewart Downing for the first time since his £20million move to Liverpool.

Here! Have some points!
It's easy to sit here and criticise, of course.
So here goes.
Why on earth did we sit back and (seemingly) play for a 0-0 draw against a fragile team who
let's face it we match up very well against?
When Swansea scored (a fluke, but a fluke that was absolutelydeserved) Fulham woke up and
attacked, and for half an hour gave Swansea a relative pasting.
As pantomime season moves swiftly in, Wolves served up their live performance of Jekyll and Hyde as
the team, and especially their goalkeeper, went from villain to hero over 90 minutes on this soggy
Sunday afternoon. The welcome three points ...

Happy Cyber-Monday everyone! I've been scanning the internet using some of the new apps that
check for deals and its been making things a lot easier. Although it feels like cheating when you
don't even have to work on your search-fu to find bargains. Cyber-Monday is another day for
celebrating the glories of American consumerism by blowing off work.
Thomas Vermaelen was the villain turned hero last night when he scored at both ends of the pitch
to ensure Arsenal earned a point form their fixture against Fulham. The draw means that the Gunners
remain in position 6 in the EPL table.
However, Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger had other reasons as to why his side performed the way they
did.
And so it ends. Ninety-three years of England's ignominious and unpatriotic failure to wear
poppies on their shirts comes to a deserved end, and a nation can rest easy, safe in the knowledge
that now football has fallen into line, people will actually start wearing poppies for the first
time ever.
In defence of Luis Suárez | Scott Murray
The Liverpool striker has become a pariah in the Premier League thanks to little English
football's strange kind of logic Having showcased his Hand of God tribute act at the last World
Cup, and sunk his gnashers into a fellow pro while at Ajax, Luis Suárez was a ready-formed cartoon
villain when he washed up on these shores last January.
If Arsene Wenger's career was a kung fu movie, we would be in the part where the search is on
for the villain who poisoned Arsene's rice. Taking cues from the charismatic Frenchman, all eyes
would be on the usual suspects, the media, referees, disloyal players, Roy Keane, Sam Allardyce,
and the most obvious targets, those pin-stripe-suited figures throwing around Scrooge McDuck money
for fun.
Rangers profit on and off the pitch against lacklustre Liverpool
• Lee McCulloch scores only goal of a drab friendly match • Rangers benefit financially as
4,000 fans follow Liverpool For Rangers, there proved a football benefit to a friendly encounter
which almost certainly had finance as a motivating factor.
Manchester City went two points clear of neighbours United after comprehensively beating Aston
Villa 4-1 at the Etihad stadium today, with the pick of the goals being City's fourth scored by
former Villain James Milner.
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was the villain in the eyes of Everton fans after he was involved in
the sending-off of Jack Rodwell before scoring the second goal in a controversial 216th Merseyside
derby victory.
The Uruguay international was berated as a cheat by the majority of Goodison Park - and appeared to
have a coin thrown at him - after making the most of Rodwell's sliding tackle midway through the
first half.
It is highly likely that the media focus on this game will centre upon Gary Cahill. No doubt he
is a good player (though he was crap against MU) but the interest has little to do with his playing
ability and more to do with the conflict between the clubs off pitch. Should we be surprised that
Gartside decided to go public with the transfer negotiation and made a prat of himself?

Landon Donovan and Mexico go hand-in-hand like meat and rabid dogs. It seems that every time
Donovan plays against Mexico, be it the national team or a Mexican club, Donovan seems to bring out
some emotions from Mexican supporters.
He certainly has drawn some emotions out from the locals here in Morelia.

Stunnah! To me, it was shocking mostly because justice was served at a time that it seemed to have
left the building. Even more than that, it was amazing theater because it had everything required.
Marta ("The pantomime villain" according to Ian Darke), was the perfect foil, diving relentlessly,

WASHINGTON - For D.C. United, how new acquisitions Dwayne De Rosario and Brandon McDonald would
fare in their debuts was the storyline entering Saturday's meeting with the Philadelphia Union. But
for the second straight week, the team's inability to hold onto a late lead at home will steal the
postgame headlines.
For the first time in their history, Argentina's biggest club River Plate have been
relegated to the second division after a 3-1 aggregate defeat to Belgrano at the Estadio
Monumental.
The result was followed by mass riots as furious River Plate fans set fire to cars and clashed
with police outside the stadium.
Call it an episode of Chester Shore.
Shots shots shots-shots-shots. But not much game.
Breaking down the defense
The Union huffed and puffed (and an appearance by Hugh Jackman nearly blew the house down), but
Jimmy Nielsen and shooting display worthy of a Die Hard villain left Philadelphia with a single
point from two matches against inferior competition.

So here it is.
The first blog of a new era at THFC1882.
I had a lot of trouble deciding what I wanted to write about. There are a number of issues
dividing Spurs fans at the moment, not least the future of the manager & the possible return of a
hero turned villain.
In America they have a saying: flags (trophies) fly forever, and surely this applies to
Birmingham City. They've won a major(ish) trophy and ought to be promoted quite quickly. So on
balance I'd say that they had a pretty good season.
Same applies to Blackpool, who had no business going even as close at they did to staying
up.
At the risk of letting light in upon magic, I sometimes prepare a few things to say before the
game starts. Bit of background, some context maybe, the key themes to put the match into the
context of what's gone on before. For this one, as recently as last week I resolved to stand back
from the clamour about this being the 4th place decider.
He shoots from distance. The keeper sees it early and gets everything behind it.
Ultimately it comes down to the keeper. Number one, at the back, unique in that he and only he
has the precious gift of being able to use his hands to repel the voracious attackers. Sure there
are tactics. he's part of a team, the back four is really a back five, with him in a crucial
role.
