Less than two weeks remain until Wembley Stadium witnesses Carling Cup holders Tottenham Hotspur's
title defense against reigning Premier League and European Champions Manchester United.
Unsurprisingly, fans across the world are actively debating the importance of this Cup final.
Unlike the FA Cup, which is universally acclaimed as arguably the most prestigious club cup
competition, the League Cup has earned itself the notorious nickname of "The Mickey Mouse
Cup," referring to its minor, if any, importance in many circles of football.

2008/09 Portsmouth team assert themselves within the top ten. I'll also to be the first to admit
that Portsmouth have been the second most disappointing side this season (second only to
Tottenham). Now, with Tony Adams out the door and countless stars sold, Portsmouth need a hero.

Chelsea FC just hired their new head coach in Guus Hiddink according to the team's website this
morning and this choice baffles my mind. But, then again, a lot of things that have happened at
Chelsea have baffled my mind. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich moved quickly to hire personal friend
Hiddink to take over the squad until the end of the season and he still gets to remain as coach of
the Russian national coach.

When Manchester City was taken over earlier this season, talks of Galacticos and 10 digit numbers
were floating about. At the turn of the new year, City found themselves embroiled in a relegation
battle that heavily scuppered their worldwide ambitions. With their latest victory over Newcastle,
City have climbed out of the bottom half of the table and into 9th place.

Former England captain David Beckham was once again the talk of the town in the Italian Serie A as
he scored the first goal of his Milan career against Bologna just moments ago. Beckham, on loan to
the Rossoneri in a bid to impress England's Italian manager Fabio Capello, arrived at the end of a

The system needs to be changed - and fast. After watching a Cinderella run come to a crashing halt,
I have seen enough. Burnley were unjustly knocked out of the Carling Cup, and it is all the FA's
fault. In the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final between Tottenham and Burnley, Tottenham came
away with an easy 4-1 victory.

A lot has changed since Round 1 of the Merseyside Derby. Way back on September 27th, Liverpool came

The FA Cup is always good for a few surprise results, and this year has already proved to be no
different. Both Chelsea and Manchester City faced lower league opposition at home in the third
round, and neither side came out with the result they wanted. The more surprising of the two is
perhaps Manchester City's 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest.

As an American, I love nothing better than to watch the Premier League and see a fellow American
being successful. This past week was a perfect example. The match pitted an overachieving Fulham
side against a powerful Chelsea side. Coming into the match, Chelsea was undefeated on the road at
8-1-0, and they had only given up 1 goal.
