A late Victor Anichebe goal was enough to rob perpetual strugglers Wigan of a vital and rare
victory. The defeat leaves the Latics bottom of the table and looking like dead certs for the
drop.
What had the potential to be a battle of the Americans ended up not happening, with Brad Guzan
giving way to the returning Shay Given in goal for Aston Villa. Tim Howard and Landon Donovan
started in the 1-1 draw. Donovan assisted on Victor Anichebe's equalizer, with a pass that probably
reminded too many of the Everton faithful why Donovan is such an upgrade for their club.

Sacha Kljestan and RSC Anderlecht returned to league action this weekend for the first time
since December, and they both picked up right where they left off.
RSC Anderlecht continued its winning ways with a 3-0 victory over third-place Club Brugge on
Sunday.

Aston Villa 1-1 Everton Premier League 14th January 2012
Alex McLeish's Villa side once again struggled in front of their home fans, drawing with Everton
to make it just three wins out of 10 home league fixtures for the Villans.
Landon Donovan continued his strong run of form for Everton on Saturday, delivering his best
performance since re-joining the Toffees in Everton's 1-1 draw at Aston Villa.
Donovan laid off a beautiful defense-splitting pass to set up Victor Anichebe's equalizer in a
match that also so Donovan's LA Galaxy teammate, Robbie Keane, make his Aston Villa debut.
Late goals were the order of the day in England, most notably at Sunderland where Ji Dong-won's
last-gasp winner earned the home side a surprise 1-0 victory over leaders Manchester City.
Roberto Mancini's side had aspirations of fully capitalising on Manchester United's loss to
Blackburn Rovers 24 hours earlier, to establish a three-point lead at the Premier League
summit.

Would you believe it!!!
Sometimes in life, you realise there are things you only realise you can't live without once

EPL fans showed up for the DC United v. Everton friendly
Everton finished its U.S. preseason tour tonight with a definitive 3-1 win over DC United on a
very hot night in front of almost 13,000 fans. Those in attendance (about half of whom were
Everton faithfuls) got to see some of the EPL team's biggest names on the pitch, including Phil
Neville, Leighton Baines, and Tim Cahill.

Arsenal face Everton on Tuesday night at the Emirates just 48 hours after beating Huddersfield
in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Arsenal will be without their top scorer Samir Nasri, who injured his hamstring in the FA Cup

Everton striker Victor Anichebe signed a new four-and-a-half year contract last week for the
Toffees, and now he is talking about his future with the club and how his injury-plagued career has
helped put things in perspective for him.
"I am 22 now and 17 seems a long time ago. I am not really one to dwell on the past.
According to Everton's official website, 22-year-old Everton footballers
Seamus Coleman and Victor Anichebe has both signed new
four-and-a-half year deals with the club.
Goals from Meireles and Kuyt aren't enough as the points are shared.
For the first 45 minutes, the script seemed to be playing out almost exactly as planned. Kenny
Dalglish back on the Anfield touchline facing Everton in the derby, and Liverpool playing positive,
pressing, attractive football.
