Video: Moroccan pitch invader scores against Cameroon

Off the Post 16 November @ 05:45 AM EST
Another fan forgets that these goals don't count Previous pitch invader goals have included a sweetly struck penalty and a nice team move. This looked more like a Gaelic football goal than anything. Also, if OTP was partaking in such tomfoolery we don't think our venue of choice would be in Morocco. Click to continue reading...

MLS Playoffs: Houston 0 - Los Angeles 2

USSoccerPlayers 14 November @ 02:29 AM EST
The Western Conference Final started late for East Coast viewers and ended late for the crowd at the Home Depot Center, with LA advancing to the 2009 MLS Cup 2-0 in overtime. Two lengthy stoppages due to power outages and overtime pushed the game past the venue's regular 11pm curfew. With chances few and far apart, Houston had the best opportunity in regulation, having a goal waived off in the 80th-minute. Click to continue reading...

Ashley Cole injured.

A Chelsea Fans Blog for Chelsea Fans 10 November @ 05:55 AM EST
I was watching Sky this morning and they announced the England squad and noticed that Ash wasn't included. So I was wondering what was up and wondered if he had been called but withdrew (for a breather for a pointless game at a pointless venue in my opinion coming up to the Christmas period) but then this afternoon an official Chelsea spokesperson has announced the following: "Ashley Cole has Click to continue reading...

S.League Awards Nite 2009 - Behind the scene (my perspective)

BoLASEPaKO - a simple view on Singapore Soccer 09 November @ 09:58 AM EST
The annual marquee event of the local football fraternity returned to Caldecott Broadcast Center after a two-year break, as all involved came together to honour the best of the best of the who and who of Singapore football.
As I was tasked something else in the event, I did not watch the whole proceeding like two years at Suntec City, while hopping in and out of media at Orchard Hotel last year. Click to continue reading...

Wellington 3 v Newcastle 0: '... I'm on a losing streak...'

A seat at the A-League 04 November @ 06:32 AM EST
Brown's in the box dive for a penalty should lead to a suspension - despite the spot kick being missed. Referee Ben Williams should be ashamed of himself the number of times he has waved on legitimate penalties from the Roar, and give this one.
What has become obvious is the home ground advantage for Wellington. Click to continue reading...

Vancouver Using Two Stadiums In 2011?

WVHooligan 29 October @ 01:51 PM EST

The old Empire Stadium in Vancouver.

Here's some interesting news about Vancouver's expansion bid that most may not know of yet. They will have to play in two different stadiums in their first year in Major League Soccer in 2011. The Vancouver Sun is reporting today that due to the renovations to BC Place the expansion Whitecaps (or whatever they will be called) will also play an unknown number of home games at a temporary facility on the old Empire Stadium.

Stadium Spotlight: RIP Ninian Park

Pitch Invasion 20 October @ 02:21 PM EST

Ninian Park, built in 1910, was the home of Cardiff City FC until earlier this year. The last ever game at Ninian Park was on April 25th, 2009, with Cardiff losing 3-0 to Ipswich Town.

Cardiff now play at Cardiff City Stadium, a 27,000 all-seater venue, and Ninian Park is now being torn to pieces to be replaced by a housing development, as this week's stadium spotlight shows.

Now What?

The Offside - Kansas City Wizards 14 October @ 04:05 PM EST

I decided not to comment on our 2-0 loss against Chivas since my arguments are the same as the Houston tie except for the Zoltan goal. This week we didn't even score and it would seem that playing those players in a slump (Wolff, Arnaud, Jewsbury) has brought nothing good.

The game did have a horrible offside non-call on the first Chivas goal, but in all honesty should be blamed on the assistant and not the ref (Mike Kuhn has all the evidence, and the video is clear also).

Barcelona’s Laporta Receives Death Threats

That was the case this recent weekend for Barcelona president Joan Laporta who admitted that he has been receiving multiple death threats in recent months in what police believe to be a series of threats from one subject.

Laporta has done all the appropriate things involving the police in the case and awaiting a word on a possible perpetrator.

Rethinking the MLS Cup Final Location

The Fake Sigi Schmid Blog 28 September @ 12:34 PM EST
I agree there's got to be a better way to do this. How stupid was it to send Columbus and New York fans all the way across the continent on a week's notice last year?
For me, I'd like to see it still be one game at the higher seed's venue on a weekend. Home and home on Wednesdays? It's an interesting suggestion, but you just doubled the logistical nightmare that arises anyway when you don't know where the final will be. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool Can Beat Anyone At Anfield, Says Dirk Kuyt

Anfield Talk 25 September @ 12:33 PM EST
Liverpool FC striker Dirk Kuyt says the Reds can make Anfield a more profitable venue in terms of Premier League points having struggled to break down teams at home last season.
Seven draws against the likes of Stoke, Fulham, West Ham and Hull ultimately cost Rafa Benitez's side what would have been a first title in 20 years as they finished second, four points behind Manchester United. Click to continue reading...
