BESOS! Check out Argentinean club's Velez Sarsfield's
new jersey... which has kisses imprinted all over it! Interestingly, there is a cool concept behind
this. To celebrate their love for the club, Velez fans were invited to kiss the
jersey and have it published as part of the "My Love For Velez" campaign.

Ecuadorians LDU Quito have managed to secure their place in another Copa Sudamericana final
following their 1-0 second leg victory over Argentinians Vélez Sársfield on Tuesday evening.
The 2009 Sudamericana winners were already leading 2-0 from the first leg played in the
Ecuadorian capital last week and it was first leg hero Hernan Barcos who made sure of Vélez's
departure from the competition by scoring the only goal of last night's contest in the 48th
minute.
25.11.2011 - "La historia no suele recordar a
Carlos II de Inglaterra (1630-1685)
como el hombre que entregó tierras a
William Penn (1644-1718) o le dio el condado de
Sandwich a
Montagu (1718-1792), sino por otro motivo más personal: la cantidad de hijos que
tuvo fuera de su matrimonio.
LDU Quito have given themselves a great chance of reaching this year's final by defeating
Argentinian giants Vélez Sársfield in the semi final, first leg.
Following a goalless first half, LDU Quito had Hernan Barcos to thank for scoring the goals
which have allowed the Ecuadorians to put one foot in this year's final.

Finding themselves 2-1 down at Odd Grenland as the game ticked over into injury time, Tromso
threw everybody forward in search of a late equaliser it wasn't to be, as Odd midfielder Jone
Samuelsen took the resultant opportunity to seal the deal, heading home from the 50-yard
mark to seal a 3-1 victory.

Boca Juniors had a disappointing debut in this Apertura Championship, being held to a scoreless
draw by Olimpo last weekend. Julio Falcioni is already under pressure, especially with a possible
presidential election looming, and would love a victory over Union on Monday (8:15 p.

The highly anticipated clash between Chivas de Guadalajara and Pumas UNAM on Saturday failed to
live up to the billing, ending in a disappointing scoreless draw. It was the marquee matchup in the
fourth round of Mexico's Apertura Championship, with the two teams sporting perfect records
entering the match.
Velez Sarsfield's Ricardo Gabriel Alvarez
While there are many stars which are being observed this transfer window, there are always a few
hidden gems which catch the eye of some of the biggest clubs. Often these are late bloomers,
players who have suffered an injury or have taken a bit more time to mature and grow.

There are reports this morning saying that the Italian giants Inter Milan are attempting to hijack
Arsenal's talks with Ricky Alvarez. It seems that Inter have been having talks with Velez Sarsfield
and the Velez president Fernando Raffaini has announced that Arsenal could lose out on the
Argentinian playmaker.
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is closing in on his long awaited £32 million move to
Barcelona with a deal set to be put in place by the end of the week.
The Spaniard has been the subject of much transfer speculation this summer with Pep Guardiola
having pinpointed the Catalan-born star as his number 1 priority ahead of the new season.
"You can't have my goolies, Zamparini, you hear me"
Can Arsenal have a straight transfer story for once? Football's groundhog day is surely the
inevitable summer ritual of Cesc Fabregas's "will he won't he this time around." Now, we have the
story of Velez Sarsfield winger Ricardo Alvarez suiting up in Arsenal kit.
Late May the news hit the internet and other media outlets that Arsenal had signed Velez
Sarsfield winger Ricardo Alvarez. The story soon became muddied by talks of other clubs
interested in the player; the story continued that Arsenal executive Richard Laws had visited
Argentina but broke off talks once the figure of £12M was mentioned.
It's not time to panic, the transfer window does not officially open until 1st July, the season
only finished 4 weeks ago, however, signs of a busy summer as stated by both Arsene Wenger and Ivan
Gazidis, we not seen.
Matters started well with Arsenal rumoured to have agreed a deal for Argentine winger Ricardo
Alvarez.

It doesn't get much worse for one of the proudest clubs in South America, as River Plate lost 2-1
at home to Lanus on Saturday, finishing the season on a seven-match winless streak. Los Millonarios
now face the ignonimity of a relegation playoff against Belgrano, and defeat would certainly
represent the worst moment in River history.
"El Loco" Bielsa might be taking over at Inter
Fast moving stuff with Massimo Morratti doing a series of flip flops first denying contact with
Marcelo Bielsa, Chile's national coach and then acknowledging having phoned him after being
exposed. Then walking that back by saying someone else had established contact.
Three domestic championships were decided in South America this weekend. Vélez Sársfield
claimed their eighth Argentinian championship having defeated Huracan 2-0 on Matchday 18 with goals
from Santiago Silva and David Ramírez sealing the win whilst their only title challengers CA
Lanús lost 1-0 at home to Argentinos Juniors, Nicolas Blandi scoring the only goal of the
game.

Velez Sarsfield took care of business on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Atletico Huracan, then
watched on television as Lanus fell to Argentinos Juniors, handing the Clausura title to Ricardo
Gareca's side with one round remaining. Velez was the best team throughout the competition and
likely would have secured the trophy sooner had it not been pre-occupied with the Libertadores.

Even Boca Juniors players expressed amazement this week at the predicament in which archrvials
River Plate find themselves, fighting for top-flight survival with just two rounds remaining this
season. Los Millonarios are now winless in five league games and no longer control their own
destiny heading into Sunday's matchup with Estudiantes (3 p.
Almost 50 years later, Penarol will get its chance at revenge.
The Uruguayan club received a crucial away goal from Matias Mier Thursday night that proved to
be the difference in its Copa Libertadores semifinal matchup with Argentina's Velez Sarsfield.
Velez' Santiago Silva missed a 76th-minute penalty that would've put his team through, as Penarol
advanced, 2-2 on aggregate, to become the first Uruguayan side to advance to the final of the
tournament since 1988.

The Copa Libertadores -- without global marketing and SuperBowl-like build-up -- has remained
one of the more prestigious competitions in the world. Its passion, purity and pressure is what
drives all South American-based players to step it up a notch in the intense challenges that the
Copa offers.

Four South American teams representing four countries will do battle over the next two days in
the opening legs of the Copa Libertadores semifinals.
Brazil's Santos and Paraguay's Cerro Porteno open their tie Wednesday night, while Argentina's
Velez Sarsfield and Uruguay's Penarol do the same on Thursday.

Pumas UNAM didn't put forth a great performance on Sunday, but goals from former Chivas USA
standout Francisco Palencia and Javier Cortes proved the difference, as Guillermo Vasquez's side
claimed the Clausura title with a 2-1 victory over Morelia.

Out of the four semifinalists in this year's Copa Libertadores, only Paraguay's Cerro
Porteno will be vying for its first title with Brazil's Santos, Argentina's Velez Sarsfield and
Uruguay's Penarol all having lifted the trophy on at least one occasion.
Despite European leagues winding down and no MLS games until the weekend, there's still an
ecclectic array of soccer on Wednesday.
Between the UEFA Europa League final, Copa Libertadores quarterfinals, a U.S. women's national
team pre-World Cup friendly and Canadian championship, there's plenty of entertaining soccer to go
around.

One of the top matches in all the world this weekend won't be played in England, Spain, Germany
or anywhere else in Europe. It'll be happening in Argentina.
Boca Juniors and River Plate renew their Superclasico rivalry Sunday afternoon (3 p.m.), and
while Boca Juniors hitman Martin Palermo (above, right) has enjoyed a fascinating career with many
memorable moments, scoring a goal in his final Superclasico would certainly be very special.

Argentina's Velez Sarsfield and Uruguay's Penarol each have a step into the semifinals of the Copa
Libertadores after their shutout wins in the home legs of their quarterfinal ties.
Santos, the lone Brazilian team remaining in the field, got a vital away victory in Colombia,

other first-leg quarterfinal matches.

Chile's Universidad Catolica, Brazil's Fluminense and Argentina's Velez Sarsfield put
themselves in prime position to advance to the quarterfinals with favorable results in this week's
first legs of the Copa Libertadores Round of 16 stage.
STARTERSIt rarely gets funnier than his in soccer: Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey yesterday, and then
last night on a bus parade around Madrid the billiant Sergio Ramos dropped the cup off the front of
the bus and the bus ran over it!!!! See it here via Spanish newspaper AS.
On Sunday, Velez Sarsfield were hosting San Lorenzo de Almagro. The two clubs aren't traditional
rivals but have, over the last few years especially, had to contend with a very heated atmosphere
whenever they've played. One San Lorenzo fan got into an altercation during a routine police
security check (most accounts seem to agree on that) and then .
