Players from JMU, VCU, William and Mary, and Old Dominion where recognized for their great seasons at this years All-CAA Men's Soccer Awards Banquet hosted at James Madison University.
Yannick Smith and Gideon Asante (ODU), Nicolas Abrigo (William and Mary), Paul Wyatt (JMU), and Juan Monge Solano (VCU) where named First Team.

The Willam and Mary men's soccer team withstood a brutal flurry of shots in the second half to down VCU 1-0 in Richmond, and keep pace at the top of an ever-tightening Colonial Athletic Association race. The Tribe improves to 8-5 overall and 5-2 in the CAA, while the Rams fall to 8-6 and 3-3 in the league.

Ok so I haven't posted in almost a month. In that time it was the end of a summer class the start of fall classes, an earthquake, a hurricane, and the end of the Kickers season. But VCU's 4:0 win over Elon today had me thinking.

VCU was able to pick up a 4:0 win with goals coming from an own goal by Elon, Jason Johnson, Yoram Mwila, and Jose Carlos Castillo.

Over 80 girls showed up last night to participate in the first ever Chesterfield United All Girls Night. The night was run by VCU women's soccer team who put the girls through a series of fun and challenging skill stations. In attendance was Co-Head Coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak who was on hand to give young Chesterfield United players excellent advice.

Kentucky is the fourth and final team to qualify for the Final Four. Although the underdog against North Carolina, freshman Brandon Knight led Kentucky with 22 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. With big shots late, Kentucky won by a final score of 76-69. Kentucky will play UConn for the right for a spot in the national championship game.

Nobody believed in VCU. Even though they made it to the Elite 8, basketball pundits viewed VCU as lucky. Kansas, they said, would make easy work of VCU. Think again. No. 11 seed VCU shocked No. 1 seed Kansas on Sunday afternoon to advance to Final Four 2011. At the Final Four, VCU will play Butler for spot in the national championship game.
