The Twohundredpercent Pre-Season Predictions: Conference North

Twohundredpercent at related • 2 views

Last year was pretty clear cut in the Conference North, Alfreton were pretty much definitely going up despite having a ridiculous backlog of games, the play-off places were fairly clear early on and Redditch were dropping like a stone from around February time, but this season it looks set to be a bit closer at both ends of the table and closer still in the middle.

The Easter weekend is traditionally the weekend during which most non-league promotion and relegation issues are sorted out one way or the other and, with a round of fixtures to be played this afternoon, we're going to take a moment to catch up with some of Saturday's matches. Our first match comes from the foot of the Blue Square South.

FA Trophy

Kettering Preview

FC Boro at related • 0 views

So it's back to league action this Saturday when Kettering are the visitors to Broadhall Way. It's been a long 3 weeks since Boro beat Cambridge 4-1 to go top of the Blue Square Premier. In that time we have had games against Wrexham and Eastbourne postponed as well as have the FA Trophy game against Vauxhall Motors called off twice before finally getting the go ahead on Tuesday night, in a game which Boro won comfortably.

Further snow likely to postpone Wrexham fixture

It's looking increasingly likely that Stevenage will have another game postponed this weekend as the 'big freeze' continues in the UK. Weather warnings have been dished out to parts of North West England, the West Midlands and Southern England while Boro's re-arranged FA Trophy fixture against Vauxhall Motors was put back again to next Tuesday due to freezing conditions and snow.

Trophy game to be called off again?

FC Boro at related • 0 views

Boro's game with Vauxhall Motors tomorrow night looks likely to be postponed again as the freezing conditions continue to disrupt the club's fixture list. The initial game was called off at the weekend due to snow and ice both on the pitch and around the ground. Conditions have improved since then, but the game may come too quick for the pitch to recover totally.

Vauxhall Motors game likely to be called off

Saturday's FA Trophy clash with Vauxhall Motors is likely to be postponed due to the poor weather conditions over the last few days. Stevenage announced that there would be a pitch inspection at 1pm on Friday to determine whether the Broadhall Way pitch had a chance of recovering in time for Saturday, but I've been told it's almost certain to be called off because of the snow and ice.

Could Westley be off to Cheltenham?

FC Boro at related • 0 views

Rumours surfaced this afternoon that Stevenage manager Graham Westley could be in line to become the new manager of League 2 Cheltenham Town. The Robins are without a manager after sacking Martin Allen last week. Allen was initially suspended by the club before being told he would be sacked after an 'incident' at a nightclub.

Nicholson looking to follow Sills to Broadhall Way

FC Boro at related • 0 views

Kevin Nicholson is in talks with Stevenage over a loan move until the end of the season. The experienced left back, who is currently at Torquay, has spoken to Graham Westley about a short term deal and could move ahead of Saturday's important clash against Kettering Town. If Nicholson does decide to move up to Broadhall Way then he will be following his mate Tim Sills, who signed for Boro in a permanent deal last weekend.
