rubro decisivo el lugar que ocuparon en el "top 20″ de las votaciones en el 2012.
Following Paul Scholes' return from retirement and Manchester United's issues settling in a new
number one goalkeeper, Edwin Van der Sar has revealed people have been asking whether he has any
plans on doing the same.
"I got a few text messages from friends saying, 'What about you?'," Van der Sar
said.

Goalkeeper David De Gea has not exactly lived up to expectations in his first season with
Manchester United, and there is pretty legitimate reasoning to explain what has gone wrong.
He might need be able to see clearly.
De Gea reportedly requires laser surgery to repair a case of farsightedness.
The Manchester United goalkeeper seems set to undergo eye surgery in the summer, just after the
end of the English Premiership campaign and just before Spain's Olympic football participation
begins.
The goalkeeper is unlikely to be called up by Spain for the 2012 UEFA European
Championships.
David de Gea has claimed that he reckons he can be as big a legend for this club as Edwin Van
der Sar, despite his early mistakes for the club.
"Hopefully, I will equal or even surpass the performance and contribution he made to the
club," said de Gea. "Let's face it, all goalkeepers make mistakes once in a while and none
of us like it when we do.
It's that time of the year again, the time when Santa comes knocking and also the time when
everyone looks back at the year that was and takes note of the joy and sorrow that it has given us.
It has been a while since I've posted and I thought this is the best time to write a round up on
the year that was as a Man United fan.
Liverpool have been terribly unlucky this season in front of goal. This fact all Liverpool fans
know. 17 shots against the woodwork and four saved penalties testify to the Reds' dominant and yet
strange lack of goals. Also Luis Suarez is the Premiership striker with the most number of
attempted shots to goal (75) but only scored five goals.

David De Gea cost £17million and yet the jury is still out on the Manchester United goalkeeper.
After three and a half months in the Premier League, you would have expected a bit more.
The Prem's early season no-hopers OTP has already given you the best team of the Premier League
season so far, but now it's time to look at the other end of the scale. Let's focus on the players
that have made us laugh with howling misses and tickled our funny bones with woeful performances.

Edwin Van der Sar, one of the greatest Manchester United goalkeepers in the club's history, has
said that if his old club are going to be able to defeat Barcelona then they need to change their
style of play in midfield. Van der Sar has said his old team need 'to have more touches, be a
little less direct, and more intricate in their play' if they are to challenge, get closer and
eventually beat Barcelona.
Manchester United third choice goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszchak has launched a blistering attack on
his employers accusing them of slavery.
And I bet anyone of you reading this would love to become a 'Slave' if you were to earn anywhere
near his £30,000 a week?
Kuszchak (29) who spent the last four years as Edwin Van Der Sar's understudy without actually
stepping up to the plate with performance's to match his obvious big head has fallen behind Anders
Lindegaard and David de Gea in the pecking order is desperate to leave Old Trafford before January
to enhance his chance's of making Poland's Euro 2012 Finals squad had this to say:
"I've become a slave to Manchester,".
As he completed 25 years in charge of Man United today, Sir Alex in the bigger picture has
always looked an epitome of perfection, a Midas of sorts. To the common man, most of his buys were
intelligent and always paid dividends but even the greatest make mistakes. So on this day, we take
a quick look at the 10 worst signings of the Fergie era (in no particular order)
10.
Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez won all the headlines when he came of the bench to
score the equalizer in a toughly contested 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Saturday but the Mexican
has personally hailed goalkeeper David De Gea as the difference maker.
United's lack of firepower up front without either Hernandez or Wayne Rooney in the starting
line-up allowed Liverpool to attack relentlessly for the first 70 minutes at Anfield but aside from
Steven Gerrard's successful free-kick, De Gea denied all of the Reds' efforts.
David De Gea's living the charmed life. He's young, talented, rich, playing for Manchester
United and he seems to be skating by unscathed from criticism about that diabolical patch of facial
hair which is surely a result of new signee hazing at Old Trafford. (It's the only logical
explanation, really.
The image is burnt into your memory. Lionel Messi kicking a microphone after scoring against Van
Der Sar, David Villa curling into the top corner, and watching Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez
sit on the pitch in utter despair while Abidal lifts the giant trophy. Yes, the Champions League
final may just have been 4 [.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Sunday's opponents Chelsea to once again be
one of his team's closest challengers for the Premier League title. United are 6/1 with Bet 365 to
win 1-0 at Old Trafford and customers can get a free In-Play bet for the game this weekend. Andre
Villas-Boas' side have failed to impress in the league so far this season, although they have taken
ten points from their first four matches, and are 11/1 to beat the league leaders 1-0 on Sunday.

Manchester City get the chance to finally definitively emerge from the shadow of their
cross-town Red rivals as this year's UEFA Champions League commences. They'll do so with a team
which, while not having ever competed in the the Champions' League as a unit, possesses a
significant amount of top-flight continental experience.
SIR BOBBY CHARLTON believes that Wayne Rooney can be the leader of the young Manchester United pack
evoking memories of Eric Cantona.
United great Charlton praised the important role Cantona played in helping nurture the careers of
David Beckham, Gary Neville, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes in the 1990s.
They have two of the richest football owners in the world, so it should not be a surprise that
Manchester City and Chelsea were once again the big spenders in the summer transfer market.
Manchester City spent well over 120 million euros last summer, and for the second year in a row,
the club was the biggest spender, albeit only a comparitively modest 92.

Let me begin by clarifying that I am a Manchester United supporter, so I obviously hate City. But
to ignore them would be akin to sitting at home watching TV when the boy you hate next door is
having a party for celebrating his selection to the national football team.
An interesting statistic was highlighted over the weekend when comparing the United team that
finished last season against Barcelona and the one that battered Arsenal into submission in
Sunday.
The team that went down at Wembley back in May had an average age of 29, with 40-year-old Edwin
Van Der Sar and 39-year-old Ryan Giggs in the starting line-up.
Peter Hill-Wood: Another prick on the wall
The saddest part of Arsenal's annihilation at Old Trafford is not the scoreline which is in
itself a reflection of a heartless and cruel policy of turning to ingenues to save the club's
season. That it was done by a Utd side that had its share of injuries and untested talent filling
in huge shoes left by Paul Scholes, Edwin Van Der Sar, Nemanja Vidic, and Rio Ferdinand inflicted
the deepest cut and left Wenger's bragging rights of turning to youth for provenance in
tatters.

Spurs came to Old Trafford having not won there since 1989. For about 60 minutes both sides
created little with David De Gea providing a moment or two of nail biting stuff. The sight of Edwin
Van Der Sar in the stands served a reminder of the huge shoe to be filled by the young Spanish
goalie.

Manchester United will be striving to go one better and win the Champions League next season,
but they are a transformed side that has lost a lot of experience during the summer.
The key trio of Paul Scholes, Edwin van der Sar and Gary Neville have all retired from Old
Trafford while Sir Alex Ferguson has allowed the experienced stalwarts of John O'Shea and Wes Brown
to join Sunderland.
Having a rather unconvincing debut for Manchester United in the Community Shield's victory
against Manchester City last weekend, young Spanish keeper, David De Gea received several harsh
criticism from many people.
Understanding De Gea's young age and the fact that it was only his first official game, United's
legendary keeper, Peter Schemeichel, voiced out his defense for his young heir saying that one
official game isn't enough to judge De Gea.
Chelsea To Pip Manchester United To The Title 2011/2012 Premier League Preview - originally
posted on Soccerlens.com
It's been a strange summer. Given that last season saw the Premier League's top teams treat
first place like a hot potato, and given that Manchester United's relatively turgid trudge over the
finishing line ahead of a resurgent but technically limited Chelsea, a
cautious-bordering-on-paranoid Manchester City and Arsenal's theatre de l'absurd, one
might have expected the world's richest league to have buzzed with transfer activity.
Why Spurs' inactivity this summer could cost them - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Harry Redknapp and shrewd transfer usually go hand in hand, the cheaper the better. However this
summer has been a period of austerity at Tottenham and that, excuse the pun, could cost them this
season.
While many clubs are undergoing some degree of financial conservatism this summer, they are the
sides that finished below Tottenham.

Edwin van der Sar's testimonial evening at the Amsterdam Arena last night was a three-pronged
affair, with the festivities opening with a match between Ajax U13s and Manchester United U13s,
with Poppa van der Sar's son Joe turning out for United.
Secondly, an Ajax '95 side took on Holland '98 with Marc Overmars scoring the only goal of the
game for the Amsterdammers, and a bit of a beaut it was too.
In Edwin Van der Sar's testimonial last night his Dream Team beat Ajax 2-1, with Louis Saha and
Dennis Bergkamp scoring.

With David De Gea's arrival, Manchester hosts two of the most promising young goalkeepers in
European football today. And as Manchester City and Manchester United make their preparations for

make his debut in the United goal.

Year after year, Manchester United continues to show that there is a huge disparity between the
world's best and Major League Soccer.
