There are 13 players of age that make both lists. Eight of those are from MLS. D.C. United and
the Philadelphia Union look to get hit hardest.
While neither pundit picked Zac MacMath, he's probably in the converstion. The of age players
that both list?

It was on the 10th of January, 2012, a day that will forever linger in the national memory of
this proud, peninsular Mediterranean nation, the Italian under-17 national team won the famed and
highly sought after Valentin Granatkin memorial trophy, trouncing the previous champions Finland
with a definitive 4-0 that has proved to the world the true might of our oft-ridiculed boys in
blue.
The MLS SuperDraft is Thursday, Jan. 12 and for a few players in camp, it's the day they could
finally realize a childhood dream of turning professional. Two players in camp have had their name
tossed around in the various mock drafts building up to tomorrow's big event in Kansas City.
Defender Andrew Wenger out of Duke traveled to the Midwest to be a part of the proceedings and
forward Kelyn Rowe out of UCLA will be watching events unfold from his hotel room here in Southern
California.

When Major League Soccer teams make their draft picks in Thursday's amateur draft, several
players with local ties are sure to go off the board. You may not have three former Reading United
players go off the board in the first round, as happened last year when that burgeoning soccer
factory churned out C.
Thursday's SuperDraft will be here before we know it. I'll be fairly busy with the day job over
the next day and a half but I did want to get this up today. With one final day of the Combine,
teams are hoping to fill as many holes in this draft as they possibly can. Some teams will only get
one shot at it (FC Dallas) while others have a few chances to add depth (Toronto).
Jeremiah Writes A 2012 Wish List For MLS
And I agree with all of them, but there's one missing. A potentially huge one; I want to see a
deep run by the US U-23s in the Olympics with stellar performances by Adu, Bunbury, Shea, Hamid,
Wenger and Valentin. Imagine the USA beating Great Britain in London riding the backs of MLS' best
young American talents.

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Terrence Boyd should have been sent off on Thursday.
After delivering a clumsy and dangerous challenge on Zarek Valentin in the second half of the
U.S. Under-23 men's national team's intrasquad scrimmage, Boyd was given a second yellow card.
United States Under-23 coach Caleb Porter has been a star here in the US at the collegiate level,
and is now charged with the responsibilities of managing the US Olympic team. His goals are not
only to qualify for the Olympics, but also to help develop a nucleus that will compete for the US
in the 2014 World Cup.
On Saturday night, Kelyn Rowe put on his cheerleading hat as he watched the UCLA Women's Volleyball
Team compete for the NCAA Championship against Illinois. OK, it wasn't actually a hat, but he was
following the entire game, even during his interview with Zarek Valentin for an upcoming podcast.
(Zarek gave his blessing, and even asked a couple questions .
For seven of the MLS-based players, arriving into camp on time required a Herculean effort that
began with an early morning wake-up call in Amsterdam and ended 21 hours later in Sarasota. As
you'll see, there's no easy way to get from Point A to Point B. The merry band of travelers
included David Bingham, Will Bruin, Dilly Duka, Zac MacMath, Jack McInerney, Amobi Okugo, Kofi
Sarkodie and Zarek Valentin, who were with a select MLS squad playing in Holland.
A day after topping one second-division side from the Netherlands, the MLS Generation adidas
team dropped a result to another one, falling to Almere City FC, 2-0.
The loss wrapped up the side's 10-day tour of the country, in which it also lost to a team of
Ajax Reserves and defeated FC Volendam.

The MLS Generation adidas side continued its tour of the Netherlands with a 3-2 victory over
second-division club FC Volendam on Tuesday.
Columbus Crew midfielder Dilly Duka scored his second goal of the tour, tallying off a free kick
much like he did against the Ajax reserves in a 4-2 loss last week.

Here's the skinny on new signing Josue Martinez from Kenneth Hernandez, soccer writer for Costa
Rican daily Al Dia:
- "Martínez is a player for the future. He's still young and he has a lot to give. But he's just
21 and he needs to establish himself as a forward who responds with goals.
Shana, Rachna, and Megan talk about MLS Cup, from which Megan has recovered well. The girls
ponder David Beckham's future and look back on his time in MLS. All three girls are upset about the
results of the MLS Expansion Draft. Rachna provides some updates on NCAA soccer, and the girls
discuss the positive and negative possibilities for the future of WPS.
The Montreal Impact came away from last week's expansion draft without a proven goalkeeper, but
that void was filled in a major way on Monday after the Impact acquired Jamaican national team
goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts from the Impact for allocation money.
Ricketts had been one of the best goalkeepers in the league before a broken arm sidelined him
and paved the way for Josh Saunders to take the starting job away from Ricketts.
Liverpool are keen on rookie Romanian goalkeeper Valentin Cojocaru according to talkSPORT.
The 16-year-old stopper is widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents to come out of
eastern Europe, and is currently on the books at Steaua Bucharest.
Cojocaru has been offered the chance to train with Liverpool at the club's Melwood academy - where
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish will ask his team of coaches to determine whether or not the teenager
could have a future at Anfield.

That five thoughts on the expansion draft post seemed to work pretty well yesterday, so with
time short and you (maybe? hopefully?) interested, here are five more on how the Montreal Impact
might be the new evil geniuses of Major League Soccer.
And they might just be that. Because right now Montreal looks evil, re: Brian Ching, and they
look like geniuses, re: Justin Braun.
The Montreal Impact started the 2011 expansion draft with a controversial move, selecting Houston
Dynamo forward Brian Ching over the player's objections. Ching let it be known before the draft
that he planned to retire rather than leave Houston. In the only trade move, Montreal drafted
Seattle's James Riley and sent him to Chivas USA for Gerson Mayen and Justin Braun.
Goat guy: former Sounders favorite James Riley will bring experience and a winning attitude
next season to Chivas USA's back four, which badly needed strengthening, after arriving via a trade
today with Montreal (AP Photo).
Perhaps the most surprising thing to me about today's now-completed Expansion Draft - no players
from the MLS champion Galaxy were among the 10 selected by the Montreal Impact.
Justin Mapp was selected by Montreal in the round of the 2012 Expansion Draft.
Since joining the Union after being acquired in a trade with Chicago Fire on July 26, 2010 in
exchange for allocation money, Mapp has played in 46 games with 35 starts, scoring four goals with
eight assists.

The next big day on the MLS calendar is Dec.
Welcome to the 2011 MLS Expansion Draft! We've covered the event quite extensively already here
on Stumptown Footy, but now here's the real deal. Who will the Montreal Impact take? Could Ryan
Pore be on his way out? No more need to speculate as the event kicks off.
I'll be following the event live and updating the thread here with the picks as they come in, as
fast as I can.
Ever read those posts on SI.com, Fox Soccer, or ESPN.com with the "five thoughts about ..." and
then, well, lo and behold, they offer you five random thoughts about a topic?
Yeah, I always thought they were mailing it in too, too rushed or whatever to come up with a
lede, coherent structure for the column, etc.
Some of you have asked and here it is, the list of players that have graduated out of the
Generation adidas program.
- Teal Bunbury (Sporting Kansas City)
- Danny Cruz (Houston Dynamo)
- Dilly Duka (Columbus Crew)
- Blair Gavin (Chivas USA)
- Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire)
- Perry Kitchen (DC United)
- Josh Lambo (FC Dallas)
- Peri Marosevic (Toronto FC)
- Danny Mwanga (Philadelphia Union)
- Tony Tchani (Columbus Crew)
- Zarek Valentin (Chivas USA)
There are still 15 others left in the program for next year like RSL's Luis Gil, Vancouver's Omar
Salgado and Portland's Darlington Nagbe.
U.S. MNT defender Zarek Valentin is back with his podcast! The popular segment that started in
during U-20 MNT Qualifying in Guatemala returns with an episode from Duisburg Germany. You can

Zarek tell you himself with this podcast Behind the Scenes:

*Chivas USA wilted in the Texas heat today and lost to FC Dallas for their first loss in their
last five games. Dallas play the Galaxy next weekend in Carson.
Quotable:
"It was possibly the hottest game I have been a part of in MLS, so it was difficult for
both teams," Chivas USA Coach Robin Fraser said.
Perry Kitchen isn't naturally a right fullback, but you wouldn't have guessed it watching him
hold his own against FC Dallas standout Brek Shea.
Kitchen, the No. 3 pick in the 2010 MLS Draft, did his part in helping contain Shea as D.C.

Chivas USA was ready to win a second straight game and hand Sporting Kansas City its first ever
loss at Livestrong Sporting Park.
That was until Zarek Valentin made a rookie mistake in stoppage time that Omar Bravo capitalized
on.
After a long ball was sent into the penalty area, Valentin mis-hit a clearance and Bravo headed
it home in the 92nd minute to help Sporting Kansas City earn a 1-1 draw with Chivas USA.
Chivas USA entered Saturday's away clash with the Philadelphia Union coming off of a thrilling
finish in a close loss to FC Dallas AT THE home Depot Center. The Union were trying to get back on
track after falling at Vancouver last weekend and drawing with Sporting KC at home midweek.
Chivas USA Setup: Chivas USA set up in a 4-4-2.
The Philadelphia Union had gone nearly a month since their previous victory. The home side
overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Chivas USA 3-2.
For the second match in a row, manager Peter Nowak fielded a combination 4-1-4-1/4-1-3-2 shape,
with Carlos Ruiz as the lone forward when out of possession.
The U.S. U-20 MNT was back to reality this weekend after Wednesday night's extremely disappointing
result. The players returned to their respective clubs or colleges on Thursday, some turning around
to see minutes on Saturday.
Here's a quick recap of the match vs.

While the U.S. men's national team was attempting to find a way to crack Paraguay's defense in
Nashville, the Under-20 national team was busy pummeling Suriname's in its World Cup qualifying
opener in Guatemala City.
Zarek Valentin checks in from Guatemala City on the first episode of his Audio Diaries - the
first special guest was Perry Kitchen, who is Z's roommate and thus did not have a say in the
matter.
The two former Akron teammates talk a bit about Guatemala City, an inside joke that is annoying
everyone else on the team and their new MLS teams.
