When 'super duper set-piece' penalties go wrong, you tend to end up looking like a bit of a
massive great sopping tit as Uzbekistan U23 striker Aleksandr Geynrikh found out to his cost
during a friendly game against Zenit St Petersburg last night.
Penalty FAIL As Thierry Henry and Robert Pires can testify, you really do have to be as good as
Johan Cruyff to do this penalty routine because when it goes wrong, it goes very wrong. Uzbekistan
U23 striker Aleksandr Geynrikh is the latest player to fall foul of attempting to follow in
Cruyff's footsteps.

Another month has come and gone and so it's time for another WCR Monthly International RPI
Rankings. With all of the matches in September, I was expecting a lot of movement. I guess there
was quite a bit but nothing as significant as I had expected. The most movement occurred with clubs
in UEFA.

With the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup now in the history books, the first FIFA Women's World
Rankings since the completion of the tournament are out. Despite Japan's penalty kick triumph over
the USA in the Final, there were no moves in the top five, with finalists the USA continuing to
lead the pack, followed by Germany, Brazil, Japan and Sweden.
By Andrew Villegas If Mexico's U-17 World Cup win this week has shown us anything, it's that the
gap between U.S. Soccer and FMF development has widened into a gulf. In that tournament, the U.S.
lost to Uzbekistan in the group stage after beating the Czech Republic, tying New Zealand and ended
taking 4 points [.

The Round of 16 kicked off today across Mexico, and this afternoon's games were the talk of the

-Ben McCormick After a promising start, the US U-17 National Team is in a tough spot. The Americans
opened the 2011 U-17 World Cup with a satisfying 3-0 win against the Czech Republic before it was
wiped out by an embarrassing 2-1 loss to Uzbekistan. On June 25, the Americans squared off against
New Zealand, needing a win to clinch the group earning themselves a date with Australia, a
manageable task in pursuit of returning to the quarterfinals for the first time since.
The U.S. U-17 MNT spent its morning at Estadio Corregidora watching the final match of the group
stage - a game that was suspended last night between Australia and Denmark.
Denmark needed a win to advance to the Round of 16, and it looked like they had one locked up, but
an 89th minute strike from Rochester Sorenson tied the game and sent the Aussies to the knock out
round.

In the group stage, that is. Tonight's Group F match between Australia and Denmark was suspended
due to heavy rains and lightning.
That means that there are still some teams waiting for their Round of 16 opponents. The match will
be replayed in its entirety tomorrow morning at 10 a.m., and only then will Uzbekistan and France
learn their first knock-out round opponents.

While the rest of the USMNT fan base was busy mourning the recent loss to Mexico in the Gold Cup
final, the U-17 team was celebrating its progression in the Round of 16 at the U-17 World Cup in
Mexico.
A scoreless draw against New Zealand was enough to see the United States finish Group D in
second place behind Uzbekistan.
It was an interesting night for the U.S. U-17 MNT, which played to a scoreless draw against New
Zealand this evening in Pachuca. The tie meant that both teams were both on four pointsn and
deadlocked in every tiebreaker category, which meant .... a drawing of lots!

The U.S. (and New Zealand) packed up everything and traveled together today from Torreon to Pachuca

from city to city in the middle of a tournament, here's a quick look at what a travel day looks
like:

The United States run for glory at the U-17 World Cup hit a major bump in the road on
Wednesday.
Wilmer Cabrera's boys were unable to mount a comeback against Uzbekistan, falling 2-1 against
the Central Asian nation.
Well, good luck making any sense of Group D. The US beat the Czech Republic 3-0, New Zealand
beat Uzbekistan 4-1, then Uzbekistan beat the US 2-1, and the Czech Republic beat New Zealand 1-0.
Huh? What that means is all teams in Group D are on 3 points, and the US is tied for first with New
Zealand, with 4 goals scored and 2 goals allowed each.

four teams in Group D of the FIFA U-17 World Cup are tied on three points. The U.S. and New Zealand
are deadlock in all tiebreakers for the first-place in the group. Basically, everyone has a chance
to finish either in first place or fourth place.

against Czech Republic.

The U.S. Under-17 men's national team has the talent to bring the United States its first
men's World Cup title, but maximizing that talent will be the major issue for head coach Wilmer
Cabrera's men at the U-17 World Cup in Mexico.
"Official Training Session" is a fancy phrase that FIFA uses for stadium training on Match Day -2
(two days before the game), but regardless, the U.S. team got to train for the first time on the
brand-new grass at Estadio Corona.
This stadium? Sharp. It's all dressed up and ready to put on an excellent event on Sunday.
